So continuing on from our boycott/flowers we need to continue to defend our profession. This is teacher/school staff chat - if you do not fall into that category please start you own thread elsewhere.

Oh God the DFE have released attendance figures and now that will explode in our faces. Only around 4% of critical care worker kids and 10% of vulnerable. It's probably our fault.

RigaBalsam · 28/04/2020 16:23

Says unavailable to me but I saw it before with about 5 replies.

noblegiraffe · 28/04/2020 16:40

Ah bum it had been up all day, he maybe got in trouble, in which case it probably shouldn’t be repeated.

bettybattenburg · 28/04/2020 16:54

Thanks for the new thread.

They are a great little firm - currently producing sanitizer so grab it quick!

Damn, I went to have a quick look at their website out of curiosity and before I knew it a salted caramel cocoa vodka and a blackberry and apple gin just fell into my virtual basket. Ooops.

DreamingofBrie · 28/04/2020 16:55

Checking in with Brew and Cake. I've been lurking on the other thread but not had a chance to post. Reading the odd thread and then wondering why, as it usually gives me the rage....

Technical issues with Teams and Mathswatch today. I haven't got the heart to make my students go back and do the work they couldn't during the lesson. Most of them have sent enough in.

Is anyone else working across multiple platforms at the moment? I find I'm setting the same homework in 3 different places - the one the students are used to and two others that we're trying to get them used to. It's knackering!

Appuskidu · 28/04/2020 16:57

I’m intrigued by that deleted Tweet!?

Please can someone PM me if it’s something important??

DreamingofBrie · 28/04/2020 17:01

Forgot to post this image, which popped up on my newsfeed the other day. Was totally me.

Hello staffroom.

I have spent 7 straight hours trying to mark photos of work and doing long term department admin whilst being emailed every 5 seconds..... my brain feels like it is about to explode.

The annoying thing is I don't feel like it's been hugely productive. I'm sure it has been. I've got free e-book access to lots of our most vulnerable students, am writing department plans, trying to write assessments for next week.

Think it's time for a G&T!

GuyFawkesDay · 28/04/2020 17:02

My kids have done zero school work today. Between DH and I it's been mad.

Tomorrow we will do better.

RunningRoo · 28/04/2020 17:07

Thanks for starting a new thread. It’s nice to have a space to vent.

ChloeDecker · 28/04/2020 17:08

I’ve been using the weekend to catch up on ‘home learning’ missed during the week GuyFawkesDay - needs must!

phlebasconsidered · 28/04/2020 17:09

Find them on facebook betty, they're a laugh. They have lovely dogs too. They do the local shows round me and I do love a little local firm. If i were not a teacher, brewing gin and vodka with my dogs would be my next wish.

Heck, what am I saying. It IS my wish.

bettybattenburg · 28/04/2020 17:14

I'll have a look phleb but right now I've found an exercise video with RAF personnel for DS to do, I need to watch it a few times myself to be sure I know what he has to do Grin

IHateCoronavirus · 28/04/2020 17:17

I’m in! [Takes place at the beck of the class and waves]

GuyFawkesDay · 28/04/2020 17:17

I want a gin distillery.

I've always been a gin drinker. At uni I got laughed at!!

tadjennyp · 28/04/2020 17:23

I like the ones from Ely Gin Company as well. Though from large companies I am keen on the Adnam's Copper house gin. Summer in a bottle.

noblegiraffe · 28/04/2020 17:29

Happy Ed Balls Day everyone by the way.

The only Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families ever.

pinkrocker · 28/04/2020 17:37

Betty please link, I need to see that, DS is into the RAF at the moment and erm...I need to see it for educational purposes...

GuyFawkesDay · 28/04/2020 17:38

I am so peeved I missed Adnams Sea buckthorn gin. Really really annoyed with myself!!

ChloeDecker · 28/04/2020 17:43

Though from large companies I am keen on the Adnam's Copper house gin. Summer in a bottle.

I love that one too. I first got it as a wedding anniversary gift for ‘copper’ (beautiful bottle!)

I currently have Rock Rose Scottish gin because it is in a pottery bottle (also a wedding anniversary gift!)

Good times.

Piggywaspushed · 28/04/2020 17:43

Aw, I love Ed Balls.

Piggywaspushed · 28/04/2020 17:45

It's probably our fault

The children's commissioner thinks it is. No mention at all of social services in the article I found : just al about how schools need to do more. It's a microcosm really of how much over the years schools have become welfare.

cheesecurdsandgravy · 28/04/2020 17:53

I’m always late. But, it’s your fault for putting our HQ on the third floor of main block when I teach in B block third floor Grin
