This really annoys me.

Yet again, the Sussexes have no care for anyone else's privacy or security:

A spokesman for Harry and Meghan, who moved back to the UK last month, called the actions “an extraordinary lack of judgment” in the wake of the suspected terror plot near RAF Fairford, with a number of American children with families connected to the base said to attend the school.

https://archive.ph/XUOE0

Dear Lord, how long is their school run?!

Viviennemary · 30/09/2026 14:44

Pair of idiots drawing attention to the fact that America children with parents attached to a nearby airbase attend the school. Do they not think before they speak. Yoo hoo all would be terrorists we're heeeeere. We need security.

notimagain · 30/09/2026 14:42

@Mondommountain

is there another airbase close to them, I wonder?

Assuming they are in Northants then going from memory now that Upper Heyford has gone (AFAIK) there's nothing close to them that would be within mutual school run range.

If they’re in the southwest of Northants there’s an RAF base I can see on google maps at Croughton. Google tells me it’s used by the US too

It's a van rental company in the UK as well, so you are correct.
There is also a class issue and snobbery about men who drive white vans in the UK. It's a trope "white van man". A man who is a tradesman and earns his living this way. A man who certainly wouldn't understand Latin.

It’s supposedly a foreign van registered to “an international photographer”. Are we supposed to believe he travelled to the UK to take photos in his own white van ??

WilliamsExtraSausage · 30/09/2026 14:56

Next stop for Archie: Stowe. And then they try to arrest all the members of the National Trust who are legitimately wandering around the gardens and athletics tracks.

Marking my place to get access to October's Public Engagement Court Circular for the Royal Prince of England

You forgot the 'TM'. It's actually 'The Royal Prince of England™' and let us not forget it. Since, you know, he is the only one that should be called that. The rest are just run of the mill prince/princess.

The hamlets shall receive their own ™ in due course.

🙄🤣

WilliamsExtraSausage · 30/09/2026 14:57

A foreign van as in a Ford Transit Van? Or a Mercedes van?

How do they know they are international paparazzi? Were they wearing berets ? Or lederhosen? Maybe smoking gitanes? I’m intrigued

I actually snorted when I read your post . Woke up the cat . 😂

I think the Mirror added the bit about American children from the base at the school. It's not in the Sussex statement.

I had thought of Stowe too. It’s a shame Harry didn’t end up there, supported by his local uncle who was going to do so much more than the royals. Oh wait, it was just words.

Apparently raf fairford , is not near where ham are supposed to be living , so it’s hugely likely that they have made this up , that it’s highly unlikely that children from the base will attend the school …….which means they have endangered children for nothing!!!

Regardless, jeff, it's all part and parcel of the same thing, where other people - regardless of their needs or wishes - are there to be used in whatever H&Ms' manic narrative happens to be

To them, others either don't matter, or if they do and they go on to say anything unwelcome, they're cast aside like the rest

What a way to live Hmm

Ah...Chicksands (now closed) in that part of the world was ringing bells, but forgot about Croughton, thanks... being a pedant in my defence I'll point out it's not an airbase, as in a flying station.

Croughton is supposedly err.....communications and I guess might be a source of the kids the HAMS are so worried about...only if those kids actually attend schools off station.

News fresh from the front!

I have just driven home from Cirencester. Heading towards Cirencester, at pace and with blue lights flashing, were 8 various unmarked police cars with a variety of plain-clothes officers in them.

First thing my eldest said was 'What has Harry done now?'

Stowe is not secure. We arrived, they said “Stowe House is open, would you like to go in?” We said OK and before we knew it we were guided inside the refectory and then through the corridors into the library with a load of kids. Then we wandered back to the NT car park through the tennis courts mingling with all the rich heirs and spares.

I sent my two through independent schools, boarding and private. Their schools were never this lax with the general public wandering around the grounds. But I digress. Ham would be mad to consider Stowe for this reason. V good school though!

Why would he need a van? If he spots the faceless children, is he going to set up a load of photography apparatus just across the road from a posh primary school? Surely all he'd need is a good camera which can easily be stashed in an ordinary car or even a motorbike? Much easier to hide and make a quick escape having taken the photos which are supposedly so lucrative.

Interesting! DM used to buy all my exam music books from the school book shop, but long before anyone worried much about school security. I remember going to a few craft fairs and events there as well.

mummypigoink · 30/09/2026 15:35

Should’ve just sent them to my local state school. Two blokes hanging about outside with cameras and a van would be swiftly dealt with by the locals. And no, it wouldn’t involve an unmarked convoy or a glock but it would be effective!!

PullTheBricksDown · 30/09/2026 15:36

Hello all. I've just walked past a screen with Sky News showing and 'DUKE AND DUCHESS CONDEMN PAPARAZZI' scrolling across.. Is it really 2026? <rubs eyes>

Settling down for today's near-catastrophic invasion of privacy (other people's, by HAM, of course)

Starryfifty · 30/09/2026 10:18

Why were there no paps hanging around Cali school? Seems ham were a lot safer there

Because by the time they started school, the HAMlets (and their parents) were of very little to no interest to the public. Pics of them wouldn't have made a pap very much money here.

To be fair, as a rule celeb kids here really don't sell many papers unless they do something weird or 'special' or unless there's a big story about their parents. If there are pics it's usually because they're with their parents and normally the faces are blurred. I'd say that since many/most of them are taken to school by 'staff' there just aren't many paps hanging round or hiding in the bushes.

Mylovelygreendress · 30/09/2026 15:42

There are rumours on X ( so pinch of salt) that staff in a pub refused to serve M because she insisted on being addressed by her title.

canklesmctacotits · 30/09/2026 15:45

Harry has always was raised with many safety nets, many people doing the thinking for him. He doesn’t have that now. But he does have husband security goons, the firm that wrote the 40-page report concluding that <colour me shocked> their services to him are essential because he and his family are at critical threat of lethal harm. He’s treating this security firm like he used to treat whoever was in charge of his security when he was a working royal: blind faith and trust. And obviously because he’s a dad now who loves and feels responsibility for his children more than any other dad (certainly the ones at actual risk of harm, eg troops), his just protecting his family.

This is why he’s spiralling and making such a drama out of this. He knows RAVEC has no remit to cover press intrusion, so the reports have to use military-style language and he has to rope in any form of military or terrorist-type threat, because those things are covered by RAVEC. It’s BS and everyone sees it. Sadly, I think he genuinely thinks his and Meghan’s (because she’s Diana 2.0) and his kids’ lives are under daily threat. “Sitting ducks” in school run traffic fgs. Some wannabe ex-army American security guards living out Die Hard on the mean streets of Oxford. It’s pathetic.

Edited

Chicksands is in Bedfordshire, the opposite side from Northamptonshire. It's used by the MoD as a base for the Intelligence Corps (so no interest to Harry...).

Chris Ship reports the white van is hired. What doesn't make sense is that the HAM's securidy phoned the hire company and were told international paparazzi had hired the vehicle. Two things are wrong here. The hire company being prepared to divulge details about their customer to a random non-official source on the phone. The hire company asking for the profession of the hirer.

I've just read a Ravec report on X posted by @snowy. It includes the Summer 26 visit as well as the judicial review and the appeal hearing following the judicial review. Two things are emphasised. State-funded security is for identified risks and explicitly excludes harassment by press, however intrusive. State-funded security is not an entitlement for former working royals. It's been written for private security companies, using Harry's case as a case study.

HAM and their advisers would do well to read it. They may think they have created a threat with this ludicrous white van incident. The report makes clear they have not. Did the private security person use the special direct line to the Met to help deal with this incident? If it's important enough to make the national press, isn't it important enough to warrant police advice?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 30/09/2026 15:54

Perhaps they said "Donchernow who our clients are? they're the DUKE AND DUCHESS OF SUSSEX!" and the van hire co fell over themselves in their attempt to be helpful.

Did the van have a logo? that's a very amateur mistake on the part of these paps if it did.

Not that I believe a word.
