I'm just on YouTube watching an interesting discussion about the white van incident

One journalist has pointed out that what happened is a privacy issue not a security issue

But another journalist has pointed out that PH will argue that the two guys could have had anything in their backpacks and it IS a security risk

Ir's really interesting how PH can turn anything into a security issue . . .

Starryfifty · 30/09/2026 18:36

Even if HAM had the full bells and whistles security, this still wouldn't prevent paps anyway

SomethingUniqueThisTime · 30/09/2026 18:37

Of course, as we all know, the biggest security risk is HaM’s own behaviours. The more they talk about the risk and their lack of adequate security the more they become potential targets.

Absolutely. I think, on another thread, someone added up that there were 16 children in the Royal Family back in the 1970's/1980's (QEll's, Princess Margaret's, Duke of Gloucester's and all the Kents) There was concern about the Duke of Gloucester's son in the IRA days as he has the title Earl of Ulster and I believe he had extra security because of a perceived threat but it's strange how 16 royal children each attended school for 14 years without any reported issues and H&M children have been at school for 3 weeks and already have security issues

Yes, it's remarkable how the actual future king was able to routinely drive the actual future Prince of Wales to and from school for years. With no drama, no chaos and absolutely no security incidents of any kind. How is that even possible?

It isn't really believable in any way.

During covid I was part of a food hub that was set up, by some ex-army people. There was a rather nasty robbery from a foodbank at the beginning and so it was decided that it would be kept very quiet where we were and what we had so not to draw attention to us.

We had various ex-army people on the door and about, but when a white van drew up and the chap got out and started peering through windows, a couple of the army chaps went into combat mode and surrounded him very quickly.
He was a reporter, hoping to do a piece on the local food hub that had appeared out from nothing <his words>. Let's just say he left very thankful that he still was in one piece, showed his camera to prove he'd taken no photos and promising that he wouldn't post anything unless he was given the go ahead - and he didn't!

That would be the response I would expect from their security guys if they were there.

When I was at school now 40 years ago, I can remember the head going out to have a conversation with someone who seemed to be hanging about suspiciously (turned out they couldn't find where to read the water meter or something).

That would be the response from the school... if it happened. Unless of course they're hoping to scare the Hamlets off.

If we are to believe HAM (which would be unwise), they have every reason to conclude that both their securidy personnel and the school are incompetent.

My2cents1975 · 30/09/2026 17:25

Personally, I would not be surprised if HaM have been asked to leave the school and have staged the "security incident" as a cover.

Or it could be to simply drown out the reports on leadership and financial losses at Travelyst...another failing HaM project.

Edited

You could easily be right on both counts, My2cents; funnily enough I'd just been reading about Travalyst, and the number of failures they're racking up really are remarkable

Starryfifty · 30/09/2026 18:49

Surely RAVEC have made their decision by now ? How long ham here? 4 weeks? I assume they have been told about the decision?

OrdinaryGingerBloke · 30/09/2026 18:49

Cocolapew · 30/09/2026 16:11

So reports on X are saying the security watched 2 men get out of a white van, wearing backpacks, and walk around the school for 2 hours!? Not a notion to phone the police?

Sounds like they were paid to do it by HAM then. If they actually had actual concerns, seriously, then they would have made the call!

I agree . If there was a serious risk things would be in place by now . I think they have been in the U.K. for 5 weeks ?
Wonder what they will do next ? Stage a break in? Kidnap ?
I feel so sorry for the HaMlets .

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 30/09/2026 18:53

Perhaps Harry security assumed they were filming on the couples behalf as they are usually followed by their own camera people

What was in the rucksacks, that's what I want to know. Bottles of diesel? Bulk loads of flower sprinkles? Ginger beard trimmings? A variety of brushes with bristles of hog hair?

I would have serious questions for the school if I was a parent. I'm in Ireland but assume the same in UK and EU. Anything/ anyone which has a whiff of danger is shut down asap

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 30/09/2026 18:56

Our principal is useless but she’s sorted out a dodgy man looking over the wall in less time.

AlexandraCarrington · 30/09/2026 18:57

Ironic that Catherine is getting on with a non glamorous public duty chatting to and helping the elderly in that mini-bus....in Sussex..

Still catching up on the thread having been out all day, but I must say Catherine is playing an absolute blinder, what with the regal purple dress at the premiere (no need to remind people who she is, the dress says it all) and now out in the community (again, after Bute the other day) interacting with real people, while M the humanitarian philanthropist is nowhere to be seen. 'Meghan who?' seems to be the subliminal message.

If the Hamlets are asked to leave this school, I doubt if they'll find many others queueing up to take them. I expect the heads of all these schools talk to each other, and H&M will be seen as the parents from hell.

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 30/09/2026 18:57

Perhaps the school had Netflix already filming on site so presumed more of the same.

Starryfifty · 30/09/2026 18:58

If I was a parent with a kid in that school, I would be very concerned about this "story". Strange men roaming around with backpacks

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 30/09/2026 19:00

The poor kids. They really are being messed around by their parents dramatics.

Im sure it would be lovely for them to stay with their royal cousins but it’s not worth the risk to the Wales.

Mylovelygreendress · 30/09/2026 19:00

I must have missed something. How do HAM know these guys were international paparazzi?

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 30/09/2026 19:02

The car rental people told their security apparently, is GDPR not a thing in the U.K. did Harry not sue ANL alleging a similar breach with Chelsey

DancingFerret · 30/09/2026 19:03

Does anyone give any credence to these "securidee" scares and allegations? It's all looking a bit desperate to me.

Apparently they told the van rental crowd. As you do…
Renting it doesn’t explain the van’s foreign registration, though 🤷🏻‍♀️

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 30/09/2026 19:05

Did they fill out their form as folloes
Occupation ; ‘international paparazzi
Reason for visit ‘ get some shots of the hamlets at their school’

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 30/09/2026 19:06

Between this and Eric Schmidt in the US, I’ve spent the day quite bemused

Isn't part of the problem with the so-called paps outside the school the fact that Harry is sending his kids to the wrong type of school? A school like the Dragon, located in a town, would be expected to present security/traffic issues. But it's also a highly academic school for the children of the wealthy professional classes, which is not quite the same as the aristocratic, sporty, country types that Harry is used to. Harry was himself talking about wanting to watch Archie play rugby, which would be more of a priority at a different type of school. I can imagine the Dragon School - if that is indeed where Archie and Lili went for a couple of days - was a bit of a struggle for them, especially when they were brand new to the country.

Similarly, this new school also appears to be too exposed on the street for the type of privacy Harry demands. Somewhere like Lambrook, where William's kids go, with its huge private grounds, "country people" vibe, slightly more traditional outlook and greater emphasis on outdoor activities would have been more suitable. Of course, I don't expect Harry to have sent his kids to Lambrook, but there must be similar schools near where they live.

This whole mess is all because Harry can't be bothered to do the right research, consider the best school for his kids and plan in advance.

Surely there are people/companies who help
rich people who are relocating or are choosing private schools?

You'd have to be a very foolish head to pander to two drama-queen parents rather than act in the best interests of all the other families in the school.
