Meghan and bashful in the same sentence??

Getting ready for the pantomime season?

Thanks for new thread @bluegreygreen Great title.

This clip of Prince William chatting about films was posted to the Wales Instagram. (I suspect we are supposed to know who he’s talking to but I haven’t a clue). Anyway thing is he talks so knowledgeably. And it occurs to me that whenever you see William talking to people about particular things he always seems to have a depth of knowledge about the subject. Football? Well obviously he’s a fan and a fan who really knows his stuff. Same on environmental issues.
He can talk intelligently about anything really, whilst putting the other person at their ease and letting them shine.

Whereas Harry….. I honestly couldn’t say what he has talked about beyond me, me and my mother, me and my mental heath, poor me. With a side order of disgusting lavatory humour on that recent podcast.
If, God forbid, I was stuck in a lift with him, or just sat next to him at dinner I haven’t a clue what we could talk about. I think I’d die of boredom. He simply has no deep knowledge or passion about anything.

A long time ago I worked for a popular Insurance company. Staff values were:
*Know your stuff

  • Treat people like family
  • Make it feel special

There was a fourth I can’t for the life of me remember. Anyway I really think William lives those values.

ps. I just looked on google in the hope of finding the fourth. Of course they have new values now. Yawningly woke. Inclusive obviously. Yada yada 🙄 🥱

That's because William, and the others, do their homework. They read it up beforehand, memorise names and understand points. They also make it about others, not themselves.
The Sussexes make it about themselves.

That's because the William & Kate will thoroughly research any cause that they are representing. They do their homework & extensive study beforehand so they are never caught off guard. Also W & K always align with causes they are passionate about.

Also the issue about AI restriction is really bloody complicated and contentious.

Harry is just a useful idiot who they can get to parrot lines about 'protection' and 'safety' because to a certain group of people 'safety and compassion' are synonymous, so always the right thing to do.

Simples right?

I'd be raging if expected to listen to him.

CrookedEaredCorgi · Yesterday 07:55

Just adding, I think the fourth value was *Make sure everyone counts or something like that.

I think William would get top score for living the values at his annual appraisal.

Harry could do with having to complete an annual appraisal. What are your values Harry? How do you demonstrate living the values? 🤔

Multibarpack · Yesterday 07:55

is only a matter of time before people ask...How did H get into Sandhurst with two A levels one of which was a dodgy Art A level?

It is quite clear why he did - because he was the third in line to the throne. We have a monarchy so training even an unacademic prince in the military is a reasonable thing to do. He quite clearly couldn’t enter as a squaddie.

StrawberryWasp · Yesterday 07:58

He has no humility.

It's so unattractive.

OneHundredYearsOfAttitude · Yesterday 08:00

I can't help but see the irony of Harry's autocue failure during a speech about the dangers of AI.

If ever there was an opportunity to say "See? We shouldn't be relying on computers to do everything for us" and then he could have continued the speech in his own words. But he's clearly not passionate about or educated on the subject enough to do that.

Would you mind very much if I queried your use of the word "useful"?

I really don't think he is. His antics last week at the school in Birmingham and the way he was unable to utter a word when his teleprompter failed in NY seem to indicate that he hasn't matured into the role that he thinks he is carved out for.

He has boasted in the past about his many years of Royal Service but his performance when in public is very amateurish (and I'm being polite here)

MeghansMerkin · Yesterday 08:01

fuschiaproudparrot · Yesterday 06:22

They " drifted apart" when Meghan was involved in Suits and then moved to the UK . Maybe she thought Kelly was of no use to her then.

Kelly’s husband is / was besties with Trevor Engelson - that’s how they met. I suspect MM binning him out of the blue, apparently sending her wedding rings back in the post caused the ‘drift’ - her behaviour maybe caused a bad taste bit like Ninaki Priddy her oldest school friend who was also disgusted had how MM treated TE.

I genuinely struggle to understand how something that Harry will have been exposed to this way of working his whole upbringing - both his parents (Diana, for any other faults, was always clued up about the places and people she met. Her work with Aids and landmines etc for example). His grandparents, aunt Anne etc. How did he manage not to absorb a single bit of good WRF practice, and turn out this way?He really should be ashamed of himself but I suspect he doesn't have the insight for that.

Because he was indulged too much. Because he's always been selfish and lazy. Because he's the ultimate privileged Prince.

HoldMyWine · Yesterday 08:04

Harold will just blame others for this and his other fails. He can never take responsibility for himself.

Because he's very limited intellectually and emotionally.

He didn't understand that what they do is a role, with duties and learned skills.

He just thought: people love me! So I must be amazing! I must do more of this going around being amazing thing!!

He usefully gets attention.

Maybe he's so useless this will become a negative.

Thedom · Yesterday 08:16

I was shocked he uses a teleprompter at all, I thought his bumbling non sensical speeches were because he was trying to do them without a teleprompter and recounting them off the top of his head.

I think Markle not inviting any of her family to the wedding plus the subsequent treatment of Mr Markle was the eye opening moment for the British public where Markle revealed who she really was.
Family is a huge deal in Britain & the fact that this woman treated hers in such a callous way will never be forgotton

I don’t have much faith in her half siblings but her brother wrote to PH warning him about her before the wedding - this is how Chat deconstructs the letter:

  1. He began with a warning to Harry.
  2. He essentially told Harry that there was still time to call off the wedding and that marrying Meghan would be a serious mistake.
  3. He questioned Meghan’s suitability for royal life.
  4. He portrayed her as someone whose public image was very different from the person he believed the family knew privately. He suggested Harry had not been shown the “real” Meghan.
  5. He attacked her Hollywood career.
  6. He characterised her acting career as relatively unsuccessful and argued that her desire to become a member of the Royal Family was part of her ambition for status and fame.
  7. He brought up their father, Thomas Markle Sr.
  8. This was one of the central themes of the letter. He accused Meghan of turning her back on their father despite the financial and practical support he said their father had provided for her throughout her life.
  9. He described their father as struggling financially.
  10. Thomas Jr. said that their father had helped Meghan financially when she was younger and criticised her for not doing more for him later.
  11. He accused Meghan of abandoning family members.
  12. He argued that Meghan had distanced herself from various members of her family after becoming successful, while simultaneously cultivating relationships with celebrities and influential people.
  13. He questioned the guest list.
  14. He was particularly angry that members of Meghan’s own family were apparently excluded from the wedding while celebrities and people he considered less personally connected to her were invited.
  15. He attacked the idea of the wedding as a “fairytale.”
  16. His argument was essentially that Harry was being presented with an idealised version of Meghan and that the wedding should be stopped before Harry discovered what he believed was her true character.
  17. He warned Harry about the consequences.
  18. He suggested that Harry would eventually regret marrying Meghan and that the Royal Family would suffer embarrassment as a result.
  19. He ended on a more personal note.
  20. Despite the extremely harsh criticism, he acknowledged that Meghan was his sister and said, in effect, that family should matter. The letter therefore wasn’t simply an attack on Meghan; it was also Thomas Jr.’s attempt to persuade Harry not to proceed with the marriage.

Pretty accurate really.

I’m struggling to understand what was the point of H going to NYC. I haven’t seen a single mention of it in the MSM. It’s all a bit sad.

CoffeeCantata · Yesterday 08:25

@MeghansMerkin

Very interesting - thank you.

Seasidewalker · Yesterday 08:29

If the stories about a forthcoming separation are true, the garden photo makes me think it's a bit of a fuck you to Harry. Look at me having a lovely time and look at the empty chair where you aren't.

PH could do a tolerable job if he just turned up, shook hands and talked about the weather. The royals bring publicity to the projects and that brings exposure and funding. The focus should be on the projects though and PH because of his need to rehabilitate his reputation is making them about him but he's just not up to it.

I know someone who knows someone who went to school with PH, his dyslexia was quite significant apparently, if that hampers him they need to be working around that which does bring you to the more practical/ physical stuff.

AlexandraCarrington · Yesterday 08:30

Other members of the royal family don't seem to give speeches all the time. They just show up, speak to individuals to learn about their experience and attend events. They don't star in them.

I found the King's introductory speech at his recent AI summit online. Very short, using paper notes. Basically welcome, thank you for coming, a bit of his personal philosophy about technology and the natural world, and the issues to be addressed re: AI. Now over to you, you're the experts, go away and talk about it.

To return briefly to the wedding . It was widely reported that Meghan didn’t want George and Charlotte in the wedding party but the late Queen insisted .Benitta Litt ‘s 2 DDs and Jessica Multoney’s 3 DC were included . We know M is NC with JM but wondering about BL ?
Anyone know ?

Wow! If I was Netflix I'd have been giving my documentary to The Markles not Ham... Sounds like Thomas Markle Jnr has a lot to spill & it would be very entertaining.
The press need to revisit the Markles! So many people warned Haz prior to the wedding not to marry her
