Continuing the saga of Sussex PR disasters.

Much as I deplore all things gender related, I do hope Lily comes out as non binary, dyes her hair blue, demands they/them pronouns and, obviously, rejects her gendered title.
It's the teenage rebellion Meghan deserves.

He actually did a second speaking engagement on the same day! Perhaps those were for this one?

And changes her name to Lionel.

Just been mooching about in my local Waterstones. I can report a total, complete, 100% lack of interest in "the" book. Not one person stopping to even glance at it during my observation period. 😂

Edited to add - quite a small display too, and small area of shop front window top left corner.

M would revel in it - quite a few Hollywood children have taken (been persuaded down) that route. And on form for M to be on the tail of a passing fad just as the harms become more and more apparent.

That speech looked like a load of hypocritical word salad. I can fly everywhere but its bad if other people want to. I wonder how many flights he has taken in his life.

Yes, he can certainly carry bits of paper around with him when he wants to, that’s what it shows.

He’s so utterly hopeless and arrogant.

It also shows that he didn't bother to rehearse the speech. If he had, he would have been able to muddle through with the help of notes even without the teleprompt. Instead he was 100% reliant on technology, kind of ironic given the theme. It's also obvious that someone else wrote the speech, which is pretty normal for 'celebrities' but still you'd expect the speaker to have some input into the content, even if a professional made it into a coherent speech. He's just an empty vessel.

I used to work with a pompous prat who spent a lot of time briskly walking around the building always with some sheets of papers in his hand as if he was on his way to an important meeting .
One day someone bumped into him and he dropped the papers .
They were all blank .

If there was a speech where H should have been thoroughly prepared it was this one. It was his one chance to make a case for himself in the role of "thought leader" that he is desperately trying to carve out.

Former President Bill Clinton still has vast convening power, as evidenced by the list of heavy hitters at the CGI, despite Clinton leaving office in January 2001. H has very few opportunities to speak to such an influential gathering as H has no convening power and he arrogantly quit his job for the monarchy which does have convening power...see the list of attendees to KC3's AI event.

IMHO, the 10 second autocue mishap clip making the rounds on social media has just destroyed any hope H has of positioning himself as a thought leader in the public eye. I am not sure how H's PR team will reset the growing public perception of H as a clueless, dimwitted nepo baby who is in way over his head.

Wow. He was speaking about how to encourage travellers to be more sustainable and that holiday destinations are also where people live.

And he STILL managed to squeeze in a mention of granny sending him around the world AND his mum. He honestly has nothing else to sell.

How completely lacking in self reflection and critical thinking do you have to be to deliver that speech?

I would think hard about attending.a conference that had H as a speaker. I have no sympathy for the audience here.

Just going back to the unholy collusion (of HaM and Spencer): looks like the latest countess Spencer, Dr Cat Jarman, is in on it too. Apparently she issued a gushing Instagram post yesterday about how proud she is of Husband Spencer for his book that is so moving blah blah and he got up at 4am every day to write it blah blah.

That's her academic reputation swirling round the drain of the downpipe, then. If she - who styles herself from a quote as an 'accomplished historian' on her TwiX biog - is prepared to praise Spencer's book the minute the collusion and the inaccuracies start to became clear, it makes her look like a sell-out in academia.

Or was she leant on to do it, as were Sentebale and perhaps the Ninestiles school, etc?

Especially when you add Clinton into the mix - how he avoided being cancelled is beyond me

This I what I simply don't understand. Why do they lecture people on things they clearly do themselves? Internet safety, keeping kids away from the internet, sustainable travel when they fly constantly, often in private jets. On and on about kindness and bullying when they are vicious and bullying themselves. Why can't they see how utterly hypocritical they are?

There seems to be a disconnect between their own personal behaviour and what they think they ought to be lecturing the public about. Is it that they think they are somehow morally superior just by existing?

It will be a new social contagion by then.

Yeah for me that would have been my first instinct something like

"My auto cue has packed up and.... this is why we can't rely too much on tech!"....I mean it's not gonna headline at the Fringe but everyone might have laughed politely while you throw something together and save face
