The swan. That book is absolutely horrendous. Why are HAM aligning with CS?? I thought this return was about reconciliation and the hamlets connecting with their family?

They're aligning with him because it suits their narrative. KC is cruel, Harry was treated badly. He is a perpetual victim.

But surely they knew that? When they were saying A would be day boarding so staying later anyway?

They appear to be very badly informed on most matters.

Aprilfountain · 19/09/2026 11:51

It's so odd isn't it, it's like they don't seem to know how to function in the real world. Haz could maybe claim that he's been wrapped in privilege and mollycoddled all his life, but Meghan's got no excuse, she must know how traffic works in busy areas by now!

SqueakyDinosaur · 19/09/2026 11:54

I suppose they didn't specify which side of the family....

jeffgoldblum · 19/09/2026 11:55

I have seen more of the board, it’s very reminiscent of previous times….something is afoot!

We have 5 grandchildren between the ages of 14 and 21. I showed them a photo of Harry and they didn't know who he was. They all said that they would be embarrassed if he was in their classroom.

Having 14-21 year olds being ignorant of current affairs and their own countries monarchy is nothing to be proud of... My 7yo knows who Prince Harry is! She doesn't know about all the nonsense, but she knows he's the King's youngest son, and brother to Prince William.

ilovemykindle · 19/09/2026 12:15

@OhNoooooooooooooooobully for you.
They know who Charles and William are. And a lot of current affairs.
Just the idiot harry they don't know or care who he is

I’ve no idea how H&M were able to use clips from the Panorama interview in their Netflix series - surely they are copyright to the BBC - did the BBC cooperate?

Netflix didn't ask permission from the BBC, @ShamedBySiri.

Welcome again everyone! , sorry for my late arrival, my son has caught the lurgy and obligingly given it to me!! , I’m so glad school is back !🙄😁

As long as it’s not nits.

Hope Jeff Jnr makes a swift recovery.

I'm afraid Earl Spencer's spiteful book of variable recollections has unleashed all out war. I have just listened to Kevin O'Sullivan talking to former royal chaplain Gavin Ashenden who "warns of an escalating “civil war” between the Spencers and the Windsors". Meanwhile over on X a couple of posters are unleashing on ES with the most unsavoury tales of his past imaginable. As this is a place for discussing H&M I won't post links here - I may do over on one of the book threads, but really they are so unpleasant I feel uncomfortable spreading such nastiness.

However I can say I was unaware of his previous issues with alcohol abuse (obviously not paying enough attention) until he recently posted proudly on his instagram celebrating a full year without alcohol. So I will leave you with an image of a drunken Earl lying insensate under a neighbours rhododendron bush. There's something about the detail of it being a rhododendron that brings shades of Manderlay, not that I think there was suggestions of Maxim de Winter being alcoholic (though it would probably would go with the territory) and thus far ES seems to prefer divorcing his wives to popping them off.

Anyway, I must apply myself to an overdue clean out of the fridge. Full of out of date foodstuffs DD2 didn't finish before moving out last week.

That's something I've found odd about Meghan in general.

OK, Haz has been pampered and protected since birth. Other than his time in the army, he has never lived in the 'real world'. Not even a rich person's real world. He's always had people smoothing his path and picking up after him. He's also not known for his intellectual ability, to be generous.

But Meghan lived a pretty normal life. She got a degree from an excellent university, so while she may not be as 'whip smart' as her fans claim, she's clearly at least passably intelligent. She had to make her own way in the world, would have faced rejection as an actress any number of times, and pre Harry could have walked down any street without being recognised. Yet the way she has behaved these past 7 years you would think she'd been a pampered princess all her life.

Thanks. Bloody cheek. There should have been some comeback for that, it makes me really cross. I hope William has his lawyers all over the possibility of H&M making a 30th anniversary documentary and will be at the ready to block as much as possible of archive footage etc.

No! , I’ve been very lucky there!! Despite my daughter having rapunzel length hair ( seriously!) since preschool…..15 years and none ! , which frankly was great , no idea how I would have got them out of her hair!! 🤔

I suspect William will block any use of unseen family material, but may decide there is no point in trying to restrict what is already in the public domain.

Since HaMs return to the UK it’s really highlighted something which I’ve always seen as their biggest problem since leaving the protection of the RF; and it’s not security.
The RF have a huge apparatus behind them - advisors, planners, organisers, experts on protocol, speech writers/editors/coaches, PR, political and social connections, dressers - the list goes on and on.
All the gaffes, missteps and errors are due to this lack of infrastructure. I have no doubt that when M joined the RF these mechanisms are what frustrated her the most, she just wasn’t open to advice and well-meaning support clearly believing she knew better because she was a ‘star’. H had never experienced being without this support and hadn’t the intellectual capacity to understand how important it was to being a successful working or non-working royal.
All his thrashing around about lack of security is his way of processing the total disaster of the missing support infrastructure..

And he made a whole show of shaking everyone else's hand around him but that one kid. Dick

Ah he shook it in the end.

But it should have just been one "neeener" and then a shake

Total derail, but my dd had nearly ankle, yes ankle length hair for a while in her teens. It cost a small fortune to nit treat as one bottle wasn't enough... so we found a cheaper option.

Listerine mouth wash.
From dry, soak thoroughly all the hair in the mouthwash.
Then put the hair up under a shower cap for 15 minutes.
Wash as normal.
Repeat after 5 days, 10 days and if there were any larger ones again after 15 days.

It took about 1/2 a bottle of Listerine per go, total cost around £5 as opposed to £20-30 of the nit treatment.

The nits just seem to float off, we used to say they were drunk. It doesn't kill the eggs, which is why you need to do it again.
It was a far better, and nicer solution than the nit treatment all night etc. It always worked on her whereas the nit treatment didn't always and combing out was too easy to miss.

I kept a bottle of Listerine in the bathroom for this purpose until this year!

It's reminding me of a panto I went to see when about 7 or 8. I remember very little about the show except they did two points where they invited about 6 children up to help. At the end, both times they gave a sweet to 5 of the children and didn't give one to the youngest, who would have been about 3 or 4. They then pretended to continue the scene with the youngest asking for their sweet and getting increasingly upset until they "noticed" and gave her one.

I didn't find it funny, nor did the audience, the first time. The second time just came across as cruel. Over 40 years later I remember how mean it felt.

Ever since I read his book Spare I've suspected that Harry might have a cruel streak in him (imho). His description of the way he mocked the disabled Matron at Eton was pretty appalling and he showed no remorse for it.

I wish I had known you then Margaret! , yes my dd had ankle length hair when she started preschool! , very odd ..she was born with lots of thick dark hair as a baby and it never fell out just continually growing and that in addition to being extremely tall for her age meant she was treated as being older than she was ….very unfair….very irritating.
and apologies for the derail everyone…it just reminded me of the unfair treatment between William and Harry despite the fact there was hardly any difference in age.

Not funny at all. He likes to throw his weight around and humiliate people. Like the life guard bottom pinching, the nipple tweaking. He’s an inadequate little man, trying to big himself up.

Inadequate is the word, HoldMyWine

I know I've used it a lot about both of them, and TBF there's nothing wrong with not being very good at particular things since very few have skills which cover everything

There's a lot wrong with not being prepared to listen or learn though, and then expecting to be feted no matter how you behave, and sadly for Harry just being a member of the RF doesn't cut it any more

It's clear Harry's completely out of control, and if only for the kids' sake I worry how this will end

This incident though was because he thought he was being funny.

Yes, and that was when he was still a child and, at a push, could possibly be forgiven. But he wrote about it when he was a middle aged man and showed absolutely no regret or remorse for his cruelty. Imo that says a lot about his innate character.

OhNoooooooooooooooo · 19/09/2026 13:09

This incident though was because he thought he was being funny.

However since this socially inadequate tale - his behaviour has been challenged and he could reflect that he was not seen as funny but cruel and apologised. He has chosen not to.
