I actually cannot believe how far he is going with this. W&h were kids at that time. How could they be aware? I really hope PW makes a statement to say absolutely not and that his father would never say such a cruel thing. H won't say anything as he's in the hole with CS

It’s what CS says. He needs to prove it. PW doesn’t wish to comment but to let anyone lie so much about something so serious. He has to. However, CS is horrendous

AristocraticAutumnCrowFight · 20/09/2026 19:43

Spencer is trying to provoke William into making a comment to stoke a new ‘War of the Waleses’, I think. In which case it’s possibly best for William to maintain a dignified silence.

Edited

i agree. But whole thing is awful.

Thedom · 20/09/2026 19:44

He also did an interview with CBS (I think, US channel anyway). he speaks with such pomposity, most of the evidence now is that Diana didn’t confide in him at all. He also spoke about poor Harry having to walk behind his mother’s coffin, nothing about William.

fridaynightzzz · 20/09/2026 19:45

I actually can’t believe their master plan to get the public on their side is to rope in the odious CA. What a pair of fannies they are.

OhNoooooooooooooooo · 20/09/2026 19:45

😂
Meghan will turn upk in that revenge dress soon enough no doubt!

Also, this bloody book’s title: ‘Swan Song’. What exactly does Spencer think was Diana’s ‘swan song’, ie her final, wonderful accomplishment - shagging Dodi Fayed? Hanging out with his ghastly criminal father? Not wearing her seat belt? Trying to make her previous lover Dr Khan jealous? That final summer was a shambles and she had the paparazzi on speed dial.

Starryfifty · 20/09/2026 19:48

I think if H was aware of that comment, he would have used it against his father

Anotherusername123456 · 20/09/2026 19:49

They are really quite nasty. Meghan reminds me of someone many years ago. Total dead eyes. I could describe that person more but i won’t. Meghan is a dead eye who will trash anyone she comes in contact with. She is a survivor though.

That would have been a whole chapter in Spare, part of the Netflix series, told to Oprah and discussed with Tom Bradby.
There's no way that Harry knew that and didn't milk it.

so CS says that both William and harry were there when PC as was said that their mother will be forgotten soon. This whole thing is horrendous.

Hang on!!

I thought that this was supposed to have been said in a phone call between him and Prince Charles
Princess Diana's brother has told the BBC exclusively that he is "telling the truth" about a phone call with King Charles in the days after his sister's death.
Earl Spencer claims in a new book the then-Prince of Wales said "we'll forget her soon enough" during an argument over whether Princes William and Harry should walk in Diana's funeral procession.
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cmqxvd1drd35o

now he is saying it was in person and William and Harry were present - so which is it?

Why the shift in story?

Well yes. Apparently he now says they were both there. I am not sure that truth is actually a thing!

Anotherusername123456 · 20/09/2026 19:55

I am in difficult situation as i don’t like any of them. Tbh really dislike them all an their elitism. But challenge CS on that. Was PW there when his dad said that? Probably not. But CS is spiraling in his accusations.

I understood it that he has told both of them this story long ago, so they have already known this, its not a new revelation to them.

is he now saying William and Harry were with King Charles when he hissed that down the phone,? Bloody heck.

How would I know? I’m just reading what you’re reading.

Oh okay, that is your interpretation?. Sorry I misunderstood, I thought he had said it in the interview, which I haven’t listened to.

I think it’s more likely he means he told both of them this happened, I wonder when did he tell, them?

He probably doesn't know what it means

AristocraticAutumnCrowFight · 20/09/2026 20:10

This is on Spencer’s own TwiX account with a ‘tinkly laugh’ comment to accompany it:

‘Just sent this by a friend - I don’t read pieces in the Press about me (I’m not very interesting, frankly) but this is a light and fun take by @Tatlermagazine on Cat and me that made us both smile.’

Interesting timeline.

His youngest child is still quite young, I think. Was only about nine when he first met his fourth-wife-to-be.

But yet here is this paragon of virtue giving it out large about the supposed victimhood of HaM.

Horrible thing to do to W. Speak out and get dragged into the whole mess or say nothing and have people saying well it must be true or he'd deny it.

After all the worry about Catherine and his father.

And George and Charlotte are old enough to be reading the newspapers for themselves now.

Charles Spencer is a vile excuse for a man. I wonder if any of his children will still be speaking to him after this.

Anotherusername123456 · 20/09/2026 20:14

Your dad and sister in law have cancer and you trash them.

your elderly grandparents are dying you trash them.

if you do that. You are not very nice.

diddl · 20/09/2026 20:17

So if W&H knew-how on earth did that come up in conversation?

"Oh by the way boys guess what your father said to me on the phone about your mother just after she died?"

Anotherusername123456 · 20/09/2026 20:19

I feel very strongly that they are very out of order. But i feel a bit sorry (not much though) for harry. I think meg is a psychopath and I’ve met similar before. I think harry was captured although he is such an idiot that he deserved it. Some silly men can be captured quite easily by certain women. I am not even vaguely on the absolute elitist Charles and William side. But also not on the HAMs side. They are all idiots.

CS said in an interview that neither of his parents got beyond their sixties and he himself was 62. He felt he had limited time to get his story out. Is it possible he’s thinking of this book (somewhat fancifully) as his own swan song?
