Buckingham Palace have said they won't be commenting further on the book. But I expect plenty of others will be and it's not even published yet so I started this second thread. I really liked Diana and thought she got treated shabbily by Charles. But really writing a book of gripes 30 years later is not on imho. I noticed on the news Harry declined to comment on it. Sensible decision for once.

They were, but the whole set up of Monarchy is the problem, and they are the ones keeping it alive. They are victims of a system they themselves are desperate to continue. They will never give up the homes, the privilege, the power no matter what damage it does to their own children or how perverse or outdated it is. No one forces them to do this performing monkeys nonsense. They do it because they know they have to to keep the whole gravy train on the road. That was the only reason they did anything about Andrew. They would just be ordinary rich people with out it, and would have to get jobs to pay for their own house repairs. Harry tried and has realised pretty quick what a mistake that was.

To them it's "The Firm" and a hugely rewarded role for being able to tilt the head and say "how naice" and "have you come far?" and folk laugh lie hyenas at a lame bon-mot. Whilst a huge army of staff choreograph the performative stuff.

The worst thing is that some of them can't even do that- There has been reports of some of them being so extraordinarily rude to people they are meeting it just betrays a breathtaking lack of awareness of their own privilege. And people just bray about how funny they are. Well really making a joke about someones job or education when, despite the world's best education you have come out distinctly average and your job is something other people do in their spare time for free is a bit rich.

Will this eventually bring down the House of Windsor!

About time someone called them out. They portray a benign presence but what lies beneath is the important thing. There is plenty of form in that family for cover ups, bags of cash, cheating on spouses, racism (PPhilip) and Princess Michael who wore the blackamoor brooch in the presence of Meghan, oof!, and so much more.

Individually these things might not appear too bad, but collectively they are IMO. I think they have gotten away with a lot over the years with bland statements of the "recollections may vary" type conveyed to a largely compliant, believing and somewhat sycophantic audience. PR at its finest, and lord knows they can afford that to preserve their image!

Being a cynic is one of life's great gifts. 😉

Yes
And when you read "and what do you do?" book by Norman Baker, you realize it's all just a very very expensive farce

They will.do anything, literally anything, to preserve the status quo. I imagine they despise the British public somewhat as well. Because they are so so far removed from anything normal that the Great British public do day in day out, they will not be able to get their heads around it.

They make big mistakes, small mistakes, absolutely awful mistakes and the men in gray, the courtiers, the massive team of people behind them scrabble around and get it all covered up. They are a pretty awful dysfunctional family. That's it

The media are pathetic.. today there's an article "Kate effortlessly gets down from a tractor". I mean come on! We have had Kate effortlessly opening an umbrella and Kate effortlessly walking across grass in high heels. It's beyond pathetic and infantalises her to a parody of herself
Is this what we are reduced to in this country?
Woman opens an umbrella. WOW!

Long to reign over us ...King Charles.Good job he had the job sorted.

  • Gordonstoun School: He obtained five O-levels — English Language, English Literature, History, Latin and French.
  • He then took two A-levels:
  • History – B
  • French – C
  • He also received a Distinction in an optional special History paper.
  • University of Cambridge, Trinity College (1967–1970): He initially studied Archaeology and Anthropology, then switched to History.
  • He graduated in 1970 with a BA (Bachelor of Arts), with a 2:2 in History.
  • In 1975, his Cambridge BA was converted to the university's MA (Cantab) in the traditional Cambridge manner. This was not a further postgraduate course or examination.
So, in modern terms, his highest actual academic achievement was a Cambridge History degree, awarded at 2:2 level.

@jeffgoldblumNo need to give me your life story,

Jeff is one of my favourite actors and you post a lot of GIFs of him hence why you have stood out to me over the years.

If KC was giddy and elated at Diana's death, it does bring up the old theory of 'could they have planned her death'

EC is a brave man. Because if I was him I would think that I could be killed for writing this book. Maybe as he's getting to a fairly late stage of his life, he is willing to take the risk

You are being excessively melodramatic

The Gestapo are out, Jeff!

Clearly I wasn’t wrong about time spent on here just the reason why. And I do assume older people are more pro the RF which again is true I think.

A tad I agree ! That said he is no doubt blackballed in the sort of places that many Earls frequent whatever they may be.

BunnyBunbunbun · 19/09/2026 15:55

I wonder how Harry feels about his uncle using the newspaper he hates to trash his father and exploit his mother. Perhaps Uncle Spencer could give the money he's been paid by the Mail for the serialisation to Harry so he can pay the several million he owes the Mail.

No, it doesn't. The vile journalist Martin Bashir presented Diana with forged documents suggesting that she was being monitored by her security staff which caused her to give up her Met security. Had this not happened she would have been protected by armed protection officers in a convoy of vehicles. The paparazzi would not have been able to give chase and the Mercedes would not have been travelling at high speed through the Alma Tunnel with an intoxicated driver at the wheel. Another contributing factor in Diana's death was that she wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Why ask then? , I could assume from your username that you were an 80 year old bingo enthusiast but I certainly wouldn’t ask your age or if you were retired.

Flufffluff11 · 19/09/2026 16:19

MrsLeonFarrell · 19/09/2026 15:22

It really doesn't. Diana died because she got into a car with a drunk driver and didn't do her seat belt up.

I mean come on. They can lie about any information that they want to.

Diana's sister said that Diana never went in a car without putting her seat belt on.

The autopsy would show if she was wearing a set belt or not. She wasn’t. Just because she “always” did doesn’t mean she did this time. Give over!

I think he waited until his brother in law died who was secretary to the queen, before speaking out.

Yes, best not risk Robert Fellowes publicly correcting his claims.

I'm sorry but I think your naive if you don't think that the Royal Family are capable of killing someone.

Diana wrote in a letter about how she thought the Royal Family were going to plan for her to be in a car crash

How many times have people who would actually be capable of killing someone (eg members of special forces) said that a car crash would be the most stupid way to try and assassinate a target? There are too many variables and car crashes are eminently survivable if you are wearing a seatbelt etc. To whit the only survivor of the crash was actually wearing a seatbelt. As conspiracy theories go, it’s a pretty crap one

There are photos of her in the car, before the accident, with no seatbelt on.

No , since you ask, I’m on here at particular times because I have an autistic child and am his main carer , I also have just recovered from a serious illness and have been unable to leave the house.
anymore questions?

I think you need to provide an itinerary!

If they plan a crash on a high speed road in a tunnel, it's unlikely that people would survive. I don't think it's a conspiracy theory. I think it's a theory.

Diana wrote that she suspected that Charles was going to plan a crash on her car.
Her car crashed.
Her body was embalmed quickly against French Law.
Paul Burrell wrote that the queen talked to him about 'powers in the country that he needed to be wary of'
Earl Spencer now writes that king Charles was happy and giddy after Diana died.

None of us can prove it, but it's a theory

Oh God! This old chestnut.

No, only conspiracy theorist and crazies believe the RF killed Diiana.

Dodi Fayed pulled Henri Paul, a driver who was off duty and had been drinking heavily, out of the Ritz bar and got him to drive them back to the Bois de Boulogne. When he saw the paps he urged Paul to race ahead. Diana and Dodgy Dodi weren’t wearing seatbelts.

But you’d rather believe in some weird conspiracy theory.

I should think that the French police investigation of what happened when Diana died is enough proof of the truth, and none of it contains any evidence of a murder.
