Breaking news in the Daily Mail. Duke and Duchess of Sussex's children 'removed from school after two days' mol.im/a/16130877 via https://dailym.ai/android

I do wonder if there is actually any school that will be able to meet their expectations in regard to security. I'm interested to see how it all plays out.

Maybe she should've thought about security when she posted the video of them in their current home yesterday – it took people minutes to identify where it is. Which means she basically drew a map for their route to school.

Those poor kids though. How confusing for them.

Yep.

Do you think they’ll get the term’s fees refunded? I wouldn’t have thought so, so that’s £££ down the drain.

Good point

What rubbish parenting!
It was H&M’s responsibility to ensure they chose the right school for their children. They secured the school places really late, without doing the necessary due diligence apparently, and are now putting their children through yet another massive upheaval by starting them at another school. Poor Archie and Lilibet won’t know whether they’re coming or going!
If all this palaver is due to incompetence then that’s highly unimpressive and if it’s been done on purpose to try and force the security issue then that’s despicable.

True!

Princessfluffy · Yesterday 22:25

H&M do not wish to wait in traffic jams like everyone else.
Why should they when the British taxpayer can fund armed escorts with motorcycle outriders to stop the traffic everyday for the school run whilst a second team helps Meghan get to soho farmhouse for coffee and yet a third helps Harry to do his pretend “work” for an hour every so often.
I imagine they also expect people to line the streets and curtsey to their blacked out Range Rovers as they roll past.
Even Princess Anne doesn’t get 24/7 tax payer security FGS.

I think this couple are in a perpetual family fall out that we all know examples of - but he is public property to an extent because of his family. He was used (in his opinion) as a PR prop for his whole life, then his rep was damaged to make other’s rep’s shine.
I am not agreeing with him but I can imagine in his brittle mentality - that he has paid the price his whole life and now it’s his right to rail against what he also values and sees himself as part of.

I’m sure he grew up seeing deals made and broken and assumes that deals can be made and remade forever.

They are both very determined, singlle- minded people who also appear to be very harmed around their sense of what they deserve. They have an extraordinarily solipsistic world view. They appear to be bullies who feel bullied which is a strange paradox.

Brooklyn Beckham has a similar dilemma of “who am I in my own right without my name, my trademark?” But in BB’s case he has married into limitless wealth. The Sussexes have nothing like that cash power.

The essential unfairness of the royal family only works if the offspring are somehow very stable and well adjusted. It doesn’t work for the psychologically fragile like Diana & Harry. He seems very fragile underneath all this bluster. Still angry at losing his mum maybe because he is still stuck in that loss.

MM does appear to get an incredible level of hatred in the press. It’s hard to be objective about her. I think they are likely to be feeding each other’s sense of outrage. He does appear to be a very very angry man. Their kids are going to go through whatever unfolds now. They are materially fortunate but also don’t get to play with their cousins; at that age literally nothing in the world is more fun. But I guess they get to play with their cousin Brookbanks kids.

This thread is not 'full of hate speech''.

It is just people who have had enough of their constant circus, drama and need for attention.

I used to have a lot of sympathy for them at the beginning, but I have none left at this stage.

Harry and Meghan seem unable to understand and appreciate how privileged they are (wealth, health, two kids, a loving partner).

They had the chance to start a new life abroad away from the glare of the media, which they claim is what they wanted.

Instead they managed to mess it all up by seeking attention, engaging in some weird money-making enterprises and constantly criticising other members of the Royal Family. They alienated anyone who did business with them in the US with their behaviour as well.

At some point they really need to take responsibility for their poor choices.

Frankly so many people are struggling in their everyday lives and it is hard to empathise with two people who have so much and yet never seem to be able to live a happy life and create chaos wherever they go.

They are just an embarrassment at this stage.

Edited

I couldn't have expressed my feeling towards this pair better myself @Greenseacat 👏

They cant hire armed security in the UK.
It has to be done through the correct channels, ie: the department that deals with Royal protection. Only working royals qualify for protection which H&M are not.
Unless KC intervenes, I assume

No security team is going to have a shoot out. It doesn't happen even in the USA when Trump has been targetted.Their first action is to get the individual away.

Security teams don't need guns they need to be able to plan secure routes and risk assess situations.
The lack of guns is a red herring to get the UK tax payer to pay for protection.

The UK has some incredibly famous people living or visiting yet they manage...why can H&M? Think of the world famous footballers who could be targets.

The reason H&M want armed security is for their ego.

I am the most Anti-royalist person going, but even I struggle to comprehend the vitriol aimed at this couple.

Amazing how easily the DM manipulates public opinion. And I repeat , I'm totally anti monarchy but I really couldn't get any more worked up about this pair than any of the others. People rage about them as if they've been affected personally by their choices. Bizarre.

I’ve not been manipulated - I’ve watched the podcasts etc - they are vomit worthy - Markle constantly talking about herself rather than the cause being supported - constantly saying “im me, authentic me” - you don’t say that if you are - it just doesn’t occur to you

did you not see the “i have full body chills” 🤮

it’s becuase they act like this - publicise their location - and then say I’m scared

and say one thing - then do another

The king of Norway went to a state school in the 1940s. Our Royal Family could have chosen to do things very differently and I think it would be better for them all!

That being said, however obnoxious I find him he does have a point in that he didn’t choose to be born a prince and that does put him and his family at risk. I can see why if you’ve spent your whole life until your mid 30s not being allowed to go anywhere without an armed guard to then have it abruptly taken away must be disconcerting. Arguably he is at risk because of who he is, not how many hospital wings he’s opening, so either the risk was never that high, and he’s spent his whole life with a 24/7 escort for no reason, or the danger remains and he and his family are left exposed.

He didn't have it 'abruptly taken away'. He chose to give up his official role and move to the other side of the world. You can't be suggesting that the British taxpayer should have paid for specialist protection officers to move to California to 'protect' him while he makes 'documentaries' slagging off his family?

Threat levels change, and Harry's protection level would too even had he not moved abroad.

He seemed to manage fine in California without police protection. Maybe he should have stayed there.

A huge deal to a 5 and 7 year old.

Indeed.

Not to mention of this was underclass parents pulling a child out of a rough school after 2 days then social services would probably get involved for them being Missing From Education

Unfashionable here, imho the Sussexes x4 should get paid police security.

They might be annoying but no one deserves dead/living in fear.

They’re not targets & won’t end up harmed, but that’s not the point. They can’t help who his family are.

There are hungry children in this country. Police are barely funded and vital services are being cut. Our taxes shouldn’t be going to millionaires who are paranoid just to appeased their “fear”.

No way; in fact they’ll be expect to pay for spring term fees too

ABitFab · Yesterday 22:32

No police funded security. The uproar will be insane.
Pay for your own security.

JacknDiane · Yesterday 22:34

The magazine quoted a friend of the couple saying: 'It's a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents. It was perfect for them in every way and the children really enjoyed their time there."

What a load of bollocks. They only went for 2 days.

I don’t think many people realize that 24/7 armed police protection requires a team of about 15 officers per person - to be able to cover shifts, annual leave, sick leave etc.

The estimated costs for that are between £1.3-3 million.

If the children are always together, so count as one additional protectee, that’s up to £9 million a year to give the Sussexes the type of security Harry is demanding.

Security that the UK intelligence agencies cannot find a significant reason for.

BruFord · Yesterday 22:35

Pattygonia · Yesterday 22:15

I have colleagues with children at the two schools in question - and any “security” risk is essentially just a complete lack of planning / taking advice. Any educational consultant (and there are plenty of firms advising high net worth families relocating to the Uk on choice of schools) - or any parent - could have told them that the school run through that particular area is a nightmare and the journey would easily take an hour each way. It’s like Christmas being a surprise.

@Pattygonia This confirms what I thought when I saw the headlines about changing schools - for whatever reasons, they rushed into the UK relocation and it wasn't particularly well-planned. Leaving the UK was the same!

sickofsixseven · Yesterday 22:36

Paddingtonsmarmaladesandwich2 · Yesterday 22:22

They would have still had a ring of security around them - you just didn’t see it

yes people get used to it and ignore it - the markles wouldn’t like that - being ignored!

Yep. If meghan wanted to run in and grab a coffee she would probably expect the whole place cleared out for her like Wimbledon. God forbid she mingle with the hoi polloi!

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · Yesterday 22:37

Totally agree that we should not fund their security.

Women with ex partners who want to kill them, stalkers threatening violence etc get pretty much nothing except, if they are very lucky, a panic alarm.

Ravec will assess and personally I am hoping they are as annoyed about this clear attempt to manipulate as I am.

However, I would be happy to contribute generously to a whip round for the Sussex air fares (economy only) to a country far, far away.

Portakalkedi · Yesterday 22:38

FFS all the usual comments about 'hatred'. Nobody cares about them enough for that. What people feel is contempt, derision, amusement, sadness at the way they treat others, amazement at their astonishing sense of entitlement, etc etc etc. If they weren't in the media every day, (at their own instigation, directly or indirectly) then we wouldn't be here, would we?

Lampzade · Yesterday 22:47

They made a mistake coming back to the UK
The children could have had a relaxed , happy Californian upbringing .
Now they are stuck in the UK where their parents are constantly harassed by the heinous UK press

Beesandhoney123 · Yesterday 22:47

Anyone who has set foot in Oxford knows its a busy city. Why, when yiu can live where you like, and appear to be able to pay for any private school, would you pick one in a busy city.
Surely you'd pick one out in the sticks - an old stately home or something.

More likely the dc werent enjoying it, the car journey too tiring, and the culture change must be huge.

The sooner the dc go to boarding school the better, to get away from their strange upbringing.

And if we CAN afford it it should be for the poor people who find themselves in witness protection, or are at immediate risk of being attacked by dangerous people, or on street police instead so perhaps women can enjoy walking around their towns again with reduced fear of harrasment.

3peassuit · Yesterday 22:48

They didn’t give notice to the school in America and are now leaving the Dragon School after a couple of days. That’s a lot of school fees they’ve thrown away.
