Breaking news in the Daily Mail. Duke and Duchess of Sussex's children 'removed from school after two days' mol.im/a/16130877 via https://dailym.ai/android

I do wonder if there is actually any school that will be able to meet their expectations in regard to security. I'm interested to see how it all plays out.

Just a different School, not a big deal

A huge deal to a 5 and 7 year old.

Supersimkin7 · Yesterday 22:16

Unfashionable here, imho the Sussexes x4 should get paid police security.

They might be annoying but no one deserves dead/living in fear.

They’re not targets & won’t end up harmed, but that’s not the point. They can’t help who his family are.

Pattygonia · Yesterday 22:16

Yes I’m not naming the schools, but they started at one school last week and at another today

Me too. Dr Gabor Maté has said he clearly has PTSD, of which hypervigilance is a part. Then you’ve got Meghan who felt suicidal over press harassment last time. I feel super sorry for them because they have obviously come back hoping people will be kinder but in fact that rightwing press have massively radicalised a portion of the public against them.

I have some relatives who read the mail and they actually sound totally mental when they talk about it. So irrationally angry. Like some on this thread. It’s very sad and also concerning. Thing is, as with Diana, if any of them end up coming to harm all the people who gobbled up the gossip will lay flowers and deny their complicity entirely.

Why do you think they have come back though? If they had such a horrid experience in the UK and had to flee to freedom in the US, why did they come back here at the drop of a hat? If they were both so traumatised they should not have returned

I’ve always personally found it very easy to keep details of my kids’ whereabouts private, including deploying such niche tactics as not posting photos of them online and talking constantly about what we as a family are up to.

But really, I fail to see what more the Sussexes can do. Thoughts and prayers.

I used to live by one of the schools that two of Kate and William’s children went to.

We had two security vehicles that stayed all day with their engines running. Kate used to drop the kids off and pick them up more or less every day. Sometimes William. Occasionally both. They used to go to the cafes by the school. All as normal as it could be.

For a while, Kate and the boy would hang out quite early in the morning on a council estate round the corner until the school opened. Presumably, they needed to drive in somewhere and that was the best place to park, and they would wander about.

She had lovely hair and lovely clothes. I once saw Will walking up the road with no security and a coffee in hand.

It was never in the press that they were there, and we all sort of ignored it.

God I wish people would leave them alone! Seemingly they can’t do anything right. I actually feel sorry for them. I’ll probably be under attack now so I’ll batten down the hatches.

They desperately do not want to be left alone. They crave attention, specifically Meghan.

It's naive to think they want to be private citizens when everything that they do is designed to generate publicity.

Harry isn't the only child to lose a parent however he's had access to resources to help him. He was a heavy drug user and admitted to this. He's over 40, not young any more and needs to start taking responsibility.

The children don't deserve to be pawns in their partners manufactured drama.

Threads full of hate speech like this are exactly why they need to be worried about security. They are reviled in the press every single day. The Daily Mail articles didn't stop even when they were in the US. I hope they find peace as a family.

The story was originally reported in Hello magazine.

Hello mostly runs articles flattering to celebrities, or at least preapproved by them. It's highly likely the Sussexes themselves leaked this story.

@Greenseacat spot on!

I do not understand (and will never understand) why they don't just pay for security?

Although they might not need as much as they claim to, if they didn't keep announcing their movements to the media.

They cant hire armed security in the UK.
It has to be done through the correct channels, ie: the department that deals with Royal protection. Only working royals qualify for protection which H&M are not.
Unless KC intervenes, I assume

Shoobadadoo · Yesterday 22:19

Why did they come back here?!?!?

KnickerlessParsons · Yesterday 22:19

Do you think they’ll get the term’s fees refunded? I wouldn’t have thought so, so that’s £££ down the drain.

I hardly think H had chronic drug use wasn’t it just weed back in his uni days ?

H didn’t go to uni

ABitFab · Yesterday 22:20

I used to teach in a posh London school with some well off families and fame. Never had this sort of fuss.
Let's hope our regular citizens have had enough and go back to some other country.

These matters are decided by experts who have access to all the relevant intelligence and threat assessments, not by random folks like you or me.

Full time close protection is a very expensive resource and will only be granted if there is a genuine need. Not simply because of whose son or grandchild someone happens to be.

Chickadiddy · Yesterday 22:20

I am the most Anti-royalist person going, but even I struggle to comprehend the vitriol aimed at this couple.

Amazing how easily the DM manipulates public opinion. And I repeat , I'm totally anti monarchy but I really couldn't get any more worked up about this pair than any of the others. People rage about them as if they've been affected personally by their choices. Bizarre.

Plus they were being chased at high speed!

I think Archie and Lilibet are at more risk than their cousins due to the hatred for their parents.

Pps on th RF board have been predicting a “high speed car chase through the Cotswolds’ for some time now. I must say, it’s come sooner than expected!

Ugh - they are so pathetically predictable.

They would have still had a ring of security around them - you just didn’t see it

yes people get used to it and ignore it - the markles wouldn’t like that - being ignored!

IcedPurple · Yesterday 22:22

What's with all the near identical 'leave them alone' posts?

To repeat, this story was originally reported by Hello magazine, so almost certainly leaked by the Sussexes themselves.

Ah. Well if the first one is the one I think it is, I hope the new one doesn't have what am idiot would have known are the massive traffic issues.

@Trousertrim lovely to read this and this is exactly how school runs should be!

Two schools?

The school they were at is across two campuses.

Then he should get professional help for his paranoia and not inflict it on to his children. Imagine growing up being told that there are people lurking everywhere who want to harm you and nowhere is safe?

Whilst posting details about their lives and location on Instagram!

FancyKitten · Yesterday 22:23

Greenseacat · Yesterday 21:25

The constant drama they create is really incredibly tedious.

I just wish these two would grow up and start living a quiet life.

Their two kids must find all of this rather bewildering and unsettling.

They could have had a quiet life in Canada.

But Time said they’d be the Next Big Thing.

100Otters · Yesterday 22:24

I think they should just drop them off at school like other parents do. There'd be a bit of a fuss and excitement at first then it'd all settle. They've already withheld permission for the press to show their faces, right?
Plenty of celebs manage it.
Plus royalty in Scandinavia (or Iceland at least) go out and about with no fuss in public. Just do it and then it becomes normal.

The king of Norway went to a state school in the 1940s. Our Royal Family could have chosen to do things very differently and I think it would be better for them all!

That being said, however obnoxious I find him he does have a point in that he didn’t choose to be born a prince and that does put him and his family at risk. I can see why if you’ve spent your whole life until your mid 30s not being allowed to go anywhere without an armed guard to then have it abruptly taken away must be disconcerting. Arguably he is at risk because of who he is, not how many hospital wings he’s opening, so either the risk was never that high, and he’s spent his whole life with a 24/7 escort for no reason, or the danger remains and he and his family are left exposed.

ABitFab · Yesterday 22:24

Australian news this morning, was focus on poor kids likely distance to travel to school.
of course protection for the private citizens was the other part of this story- Harry and Meghan will have a separate review of security.
