Breaking news in the Daily Mail. Duke and Duchess of Sussex's children 'removed from school after two days' mol.im/a/16130877 via https://dailym.ai/android

I do wonder if there is actually any school that will be able to meet their expectations in regard to security. I'm interested to see how it all plays out.

Me too. Dr Gabor Maté has said he clearly has PTSD, of which hypervigilance is a part. Then you’ve got Meghan who felt suicidal over press harassment last time. I feel super sorry for them because they have obviously come back hoping people will be kinder but in fact that rightwing press have massively radicalised a portion of the public against them.

I have some relatives who read the mail and they actually sound totally mental when they talk about it. So irrationally angry. Like some on this thread. It’s very sad and also concerning. Thing is, as with Diana, if any of them end up coming to harm all the people who gobbled up the gossip will lay flowers and deny their complicity entirely.

I could give this more credence if William hadn't been through exactly the same traumatic childhood. Harry acts like he's the only person who has ever suffered or been traumatized and the only person who has a right to complain. He's unable to see that millions of people around the world have gone through bad things, including his own brother who suffered through the same things he did. Possibly more, since there are stories of Diana subjecting William to emotional parentification and dumping her baggage on him. And his wife had cancer, so again, Harry's not the only one who's been confronted with the possibility of losing a spouse.

But he can't see any of that, and somehow William has managed to live his life without living in total dysfunction, alienating everyone around him and launching vicious public attacks on his family.

The whole thing is so sad. I can't see this marriage lasting long-term. Two damaged people who have had no good models for relationships and share only dysfunction in common, is not a good foundation. And when it inevitably falls apart, Harry's going to realize he needs his family, only he's burnt every bridge. But I feel even worse for his kids. William grew up in the same dysfunction and seems to have manage to model better for his own children. Harry just can't get out of his own way. The whole thing is pitiful. Pulling your kids out of school after 2 days is just another iteration of a long list of bad choices that keeps growing.

Its fairly hard to get into a good Uni in UK now. You have to do very very well.

@AuroraCake Oh I agree that academic standards are high in the UK. One difference perhaps is that private schools in the US market themselves as sending 100% of their students to university. If you're academically weak, your parents would be expected to provide enough extra tutoring to get you there.

Exactly. I've long thought that harry acts like he was Diana's only child. It must be very hurtful for William to see his brother monopolise her memory in this way. He doesn't seem to exist in harrys version of events. Its bizarre.

And you think expectations on royal offspring will be lower in the UK?

They were for Harry. One of his teachers at Eton did his art class work for him. I wonder about his other classes. Also, if he pulled that crap with a teacher with health and mobility issues at one of my schools, he would have been dragged into the principal's office.

I think they should just drop them off at school like other parents do. There'd be a bit of a fuss and excitement at first then it'd all settle. They've already withheld permission for the press to show their faces, right?
Plenty of celebs manage it.
Plus royalty in Scandinavia (or Iceland at least) go out and about with no fuss in public. Just do it and then it becomes normal.

Does Iceland have royalty?

to be fair the press in Scandinavia hardly reports on every blink on an eye with the scandalous zeal that daily heil does here

You've obviously not read certain sections of the Scandi press that make the DM look very take

The second in line to the Swedish throne attends a non-fee paying free school in Stockholm.

If the kids have been taken out of school it could be time social services got involved, it might be better for all concerned if the children were taken into care if the parents can't cope or are making chaotic lifestyle choices.

Poor children. I can't imagine their life is going to become any less chaotic either.

They're not poor. Like the Beckham wastes of space they will never have to do a days work in their lives...

They don't even need to worry about qualifications, a degree, work experience, getting a mortgage, all the hoops normal people have to go through.

They can rely on family, inherited money from the day they are born to the last minute of their lives.

I'm so bored of endless drama with Harry and megan, all revolving around needing, wanting more money... It's so poor taste, cheap, selfish

BemusedAmerican · Yesterday 00:55

Out of curiosity, why can't they make their own coffee at home? Have they never heard of coffee machines? Or insulated thermal travel mugs?

Diamond7272 · Yesterday 00:56

Megan reminds me more and more of Wallis Simpson every day.

She ended up loathed by the British population as well... But thankfully, lived a life of privilege in a chateau outside Paris. Even she realised she's wasn't welcome...

The penny hasn't quite dropped yet for h and m

The Montecito neighbors said the security guys dropped the kids off at school in Montecito, not the parents. Maybe they should try that with the kids and security in one car.

Oh wait, aren't they still employing the security that got them stuck in NYC midtown traffic? 🤔

Oh did they?!!!

As many many people have demonstrated over the years, money is no substitute for a stable loving home with parents who care more about their chidren than themselves.

Ask Christina Crawford, any of Katie Price's kids, Apple Paltrow, Alec Baldwins daughter.....and yes the junior Beckhams.

Having more money than they can spend and literally nothing to do is not a good thing at all. Everyone needs a purpose in life. Look at how many people who have come into huge amounts of money and it has destroyed their lives.

PyongyangKipperbang · Yesterday 01:30

I think that its interesting that people who think the worst over an unemployed family on benefits living a chaotic life through trauma and poor choices in the lower working class, are more forgiving of an unemployed family on benefits living a chaotic life through trauma and poor choices in the aristocracy.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the plan was always to flounce back to California after a few weeks/months. They can claim they tried their best to mend bridges, etc but were forced back due to lack of security and general nastiness. Gets more headlines, publicity and reinforces the victim mentality.

You have to be really messed up to disrupt lives of your children just to gain some public sympathy. I hope it’s not true.

@PyongyangKipperbang I think it's because wealthy people have access to levels of help and support that most people don't, so they're judged more harshly.

I wonder if you misunderstand my point.

I am saying that H (not so much M) is judged far less harshly, simply because of what happened to his mother and who his father is. But a lot of people have lost their mothers at a young age, have difficult relationships with their fathers and struggle with life, and they dont get the free pass H gets.

They were hounded by the press before they left. Which is why am still shocked they came back when nothing has changed in terms of why they left. He could not see a world in which he could bring his family here due to security concerns (Without full police protection) so why did he? Whats so urgent that its worth risking it all. I feel sorry for them but I am still wondering why they came (its not as if Harry cares much about his dad. All the good in him, is according to him from his mum. And when he did an interview in his home the reporter said there wasnt a single pic of Charles. So its not because he is sick. So why return to the UK. I feel sorry for them all and wish them peace

I personally think they want to make sure there is money for them once King Charles dies and wanted him to see their grandchildren.

The hatred for these two is insane.

And no, I don't mean most people just not liking them - I mean the pure hatred than means daily death threats.

I really think they should leave again. They are a walking target.

What “pure hatred” have you seen on this thread? People commenting that their planning was piss poor, noting the hypocrisy of posting videos of their children on social media one day and claiming they are too unsafe to go to school the next and feeling sorry for the two poor mites caught up in the chaos is not hatred.

If you’re not referring to the thread, how do you know they get daily death threats?

H gets the free pass because a lot of people think very poorly of Charles as a man and as a father, and feel sorry for both William and Harry for being left with such an emotionally illiterate cold fish to bring them up, or should I say leave them to nannies and boarding schools he paid for.

Darkershadeofpink · Yesterday 03:29

it must have been pretty chaotic if their security dropped them. These poor kids are being brought up as if they are porcelain objects. I can just imagine traffic queues, parking, anxiety for the kids in the car, other parents rolling eyes and resultant extra worry for these two children on top of normal nerves of starting a new school in a new country and new house with no friends yet while just getting over jet lag.

why can’t they drop them and pick up themselves? Or have a minder do it. School is full of assemblies, sports day, parent talks, parties, play dates, hanging out in the green or park ad hoc after school, whats apps, cake sales, sleepovers eventually etc. How will they cope with these when there will always be some fraught attitude to it and security concern?. They have literally created the problem by slagging off the royals, our country, our heritage and ways and put themselves up for this. They would have been better off getting hands on, apologising and allowing their kids the chance of a normal happy carefree tree climbing life they clearly isn’t going to happen because of their paranoia.

I think they managed to keep the school name out of the media as did parents. So why change schools to another one when it was so perfect ?

the problem will get worse. Kids need independence. What then?

All too soon Archie will also grasp and read what his parents are like and they won’t be able to control everything.

massive chaos for the children and a likely more than eye roll from parents at the new school who definitely won’t want to get involved with them.

It's been widely reported.

Where? I haven’t seen any reports of daily death threats.
