I was opposed to Harry receiving state-funded security but now I’ve changed my mind. Given his increasingly erratic behaviour, I think the it is he who is the security risk and he should have armed police on his tail 24/7. Should that happen, how long before HaM complain about invasion of privacy?

Sounded to me as if he has the measure of them. And Chris didn’t really have an answer for it.

There was always going to be a reassessment as soon as they decided to move back to the UK.

His bespoke arrangement was based on the unique position of being a non-working royal living outside the UK but travelling back frequently, giving notice and having security assessed on a case-by-case basis.

He will now have his security assessed on the same basis as all other non-working royals living in the UK. It will be assessed according to current risk, and recommendations for security made.

Even if he gets the security now as the son of the monarch he won’t keep it forever. Being the king’s brother makes him less of a target than being the king’s son. And also less interesting to the media other than the tabloid stories of his estrangement from his brother. They might not even stay in the country once reality bites as to all the bridges they have burnt with the upper class and wealthy.
