A golden opportunity to reinvent themselves, but I’m not even sure the move was particularly well-planned. Neither was Megxit… Buying the house in Montecito was a rash move, too. It’s seems to be what they do (relying on wealthy “friends” just look where it got Fergie & Andy…)

According to Tom Sykes (I just watched his interview 😀). He was told in March of this year the Sussex’s were moving back next year, 2027, he kept that info under wraps to release it in a new book he was writing. He doesn’t know what caused the change of plan, but it was clearly a very sudden pivot.

Goodness me! I go out on my morning engagement and nearly 200 posts already

I have been to my local leisure centre for a meet and greet ( a couple of classes). I am considering a new wardrobe for the next time I do this (need new leggings)

I was later due to carry out voluntary work at a veteran establishment (cut the in-laws grass), but this has been postponed due to lack
of security guarantees (it’s too wet for an electric mower)

Good point.

We will be making a public appearance in support of the efforts of public transport workers, on the 156 bus.

I applaud your effort of support.

Of course I had chauffeured transportation on my recent visit to inspect the A&E department of my local hospital recently. However, I did fund it myself via uber, no tax payer transportation for me.

From the Office of Porcupine:.
Tomorrow, September 14th, PleasantGreenPorcupine will be driving her elderly neighbour Dorothy to the foot clinic. This is both supporting healthcare and supporting the elderly.
Ms Porcupine is aware of this awesome charitable endeavour.
She accepts no petrol money from Dorothy, but Dorothy will make her a Victoria Sponge by way of thanks.

In my important schedule of appointments today, I arranged for the removal of certain items of clothing to benefit the poor. (Sorted some clothes out for the charity shop!) However, in the spirit of the LHMQ, I've FINALLY got rid of some jeans I've had for nearly 30 years, but they've gone to the rag bag as they were more holes than jeans. They've been my housework jeans for years.

murasaki · 13/09/2026 14:01

I have been engaged in a 'save the planet' initiative by sorting the recycling.

Later I shall supervise a cultural exchange where a man from the North of England attempts to cook a Mongolian lamb stirfry using only a gousto card and exactly step by step instructions and measured ingredients.

It's quite magnificent.

canklesmctacotits · 13/09/2026 14:03

Charles is hosting a group is AI leaders at Dumfries House next week, supposedly to get them to think about their responsibility to humankind in allowing AI to progress without restraint.

Compare this to Harry & Meghan who’s anti-online bullying efforts almost certainly stem from the two of them reading DM comments from before the statement Harry made entreating the media to not be racist to her.

There’s no question that online bullying is real and can do fatal harm. It’s a laudable aim. But it goes to show that the RF thinks on global terms, with the monarch able to convene people in a way that not even a prime minister or president can; whereas ham are making their personal problems (Meghan being victim of online abuse, Harry losing his mum as a child) the basis for their work. The first is about all people. The second is about two people. The first is about ideas and thoughts. The second is about feelings and emotion. Just different playing fields.

We are all doing more in a day than HAM are doing in a month. Go us!

I remember seeing one of the Queens early formal dresses at Balmoral. It was heavily beaded and the beading was exquisite. Not just beaded fabric made to fit, the beading was applied afterwards with the pattern designed perfectly to replicate round the dress.

Yes, I went, there were so many special pieces. We were told that QE2’s wedding dress, (the fabric which had degraded to a pale peach colour with age) had become too fragile to continue displaying it and so this was likely to be its last ever outing.

longtime lurker here, these threads have kept me company on many trips to a and e where I have to work hard not to snort with laughter.

@murasaki I took my mum to the exhibition at BP last month for her birthday (very much more her thing than mine). It was actually very interesting, the tailoring and attention to detail was amazing and the thought that went into each design in relation to the country/occasion was so well done.

I need to go back now and catch up on the last five pages 😬

I'd say they panicked due to KC health and hurried back expecting a rapturous welcome

The absolute antithesis of Meghan and her “Let’s make this quick” and “Where’s the camera?”

If Meghan was coming to your organisation you might agree with her on this!

I honestly don’t believe it is anything to do with Charles health, and even if he is more ill than he looks, I think H&M would not be privy to that at this point.

I think it is more likely to do with finances and their marriage hitting a crises point.

We are! Plus we haven't even announced when our birthdays are!

Well I have announced a day of rest following my exertions yesterday as housing officer and transportation chief Petty officer.
I am however supporting my local animal charity by comforting the cat who is missing her young human.
In the interests of cat rehabilitation I decided to preserve evidence of said human’s existence for her emotional comfort. (I decided not to strip DD’s bed for a week or two so she can enjoy her human’s scent when she curls up in the bed).

BasiliskStare · 13/09/2026 14:16

@canklesmctacotits - I do agree with you. 👏The difference is the WRF do things for the long term and take advice. H&M pick up Issues du Jour ( to paraphrase a saying from Ab Fab from years ago ) , or personal gripes/worries/concerns.
Which is why they are not creditable philanthropists (imho) H has 3 charities left ? but they came from when he was still in the RF. What have they started on their own and carried through in a measured way ? (I'm happy to be corrected as ever 😊)
