longtime lurker here, these threads have kept me company on many trips to a and e where I have to work hard not to snort with laughter.

Welcome 👋

I genuinely can't think of anyone else who had so much, and completely trashed it.

That’s the secret of their fascination now.

Well I have announced a day of rest following my exertions yesterday as housing officer and transportation chief Petty officer.
I am however supporting my local animal charity by comforting the cat who is missing her young human.
In the interests of cat rehabilitation I decided to preserve evidence of said human’s existence for her emotional comfort. (I decided not to strip DD’s bed for a week or two so she can enjoy her human’s scent when she curls up in the bed).

I for one applaud your efforts in the field of saving water in these times of climate crisis.

A golden opportunity to reinvent themselves, but I’m not even sure the move was particularly well-planned. Neither was Megxit… Buying the house in Montecito was a rash move, too. It’s seems to be what they do (relying on wealthy “friends” just look where it got Fergie & Andy…)

I think at about the time his book came out he had a discussion with a Doctor who gave an unofficial diagnosis of ADHD. I’ve always suspected that this may at some point be expanded on perhaps a documentary giving an official diagnosis and suddenly all the mistakes and impulsive behaviour isn’t their fault it’s the ADHD.

Lookatmelookatmedontevenlookatme · 13/09/2026 14:20

Forgot to add, I’m currently on an important overseas tour examining cultural, social and climatic conditions in a country I cannot name for security reasons. <slaps on sunscreen>

I haven’t read the article as it is subscriber only but I wouldn’t be surprised if some brands are drawing up plans for an appropriate response should Meghan contact them. Anyway, as Royals always pay for their clothes, and Meghan has a reputation for seeking freebies it should be a fairly easy decision.

I think the problem is that the removal of titles would need to be total. Letters patent supported by parliament can make him plain Harry Windsor. He would no longer be a Prince or a Duke. That way, his wife cant call herself either a Duchess or Princess and then their children are just plain Archie and Lily.
I agree with you. Its a straightforward thing so Charles just needs to get on with it.

Yes!!

In the words of our esteemed Jeff Goldblum: their retort should be "flattered, not interested"

Not surprising, and I imagine any charities who want royal patronage will be thinking the same.

I applaud your effort of support.

Of course I had chauffeured transportation on my recent visit to inspect the A&E department of my local hospital recently. However, I did fund it myself via uber, no tax payer transportation for me.

That's beautiful

Is anyone else on here overwhelmed by the astonishing public service of the posters on here?
It's quite magnificent.

We are all living lives of service, and have done since the moment of our birth...

It is such a shame for W that H is so hopeless; he really could have done with a supportive brother. Ok AMW has turned out to be a dead loss, but Anne and Edward have done a great deal since KC3 came to the throne, despite none of them being young. They won’t be around for W, at least not as much, as they will be increasingly elderly. So who will support him? There is ‘slimmed down monarchy’ and ‘too few people representing the monarchy on official engagements to enable the monarchy to continue to be relevant to people’s lives.

Wasn’t looking for free clothes one of the first points of contention for Meghan?

I'm normally a lurker here but find these threads give some light relief.

Just been watching the Great North Run. Andy Burnham was running and being interviewed at the end. He obviously had security but I couldn't see them and he was being interviewed like any other finisher.

It really contrasted with all the whingeing from H&M and their desperation to be important.

William and Catherine's security is usually very low key - even in huge crowds like Wimbledon. One of the very few times that I've seen an RPO intervene was when an over-excited American tourist grabbed Catherine's hair to pull her into shot for a selfie.

They don't often use motorcades - usually only when they need to move without stopping through city centre traffic as they don't want a repetition of the time when Charles and Camilla were on their way to an engagement and their car was attacked by protesters when stuck in traffic.

William and Catherine go out and about without any security - although there were those incidents where that creepy stalker guy followed them in Norfolk when they were without security and William had to block the path so Catherine and the kids could cycle home.

Even though her working wardrobe - bespoke designer gear - was paid for by Charles.

Genuinely think that one of the biggest threats to the monarchy in recent years was Princess Anne getting kicked in the head by a horse.

Angela Kelly was actually treated very shoddily by the RF following the Queens death. They couldn’t wait to give her the bums rush and apart from the house she was given she was very much persona non grata almost immediately following the Queens passing. It’s well documented and I think it was a very good indication of how people within the family were jealous of her relationship with the Queen.

Edited

I doubt if a lot of the family were happy that she'd scored a tell all book deal prior to the Queen's death.

I believe it's one of the reasons that the Wales family have no/few live in staff. William didn't like growing up under surveillance that some staff were collecting content for book/media deals - like blabbermouth Burrell and the Highgrove Housekeeper's tale of the War of the Wales' (although Charles got that book banned in Britain).

I was stopped by W motorcade recently. Was near a city centre but very quiet traffic-wise (I was the only car on my roundabout, no cars waiting. Only a took a minute but given the traffic level it didn’t seem worth it.

If titles are removed, Meg is gone. However, RF will take H in, as a family member. He can't survive on his own. It may be the best thing for him in the long run

Meg has moved back to the UK,- I don't think we can say anything with certain anymore - it is part of why they are so interesting - they are unpredictable

AlexandraCarrington · 13/09/2026 14:43

Fashion houses forced to choose between Meghan Markle and 'Princess Kate'?

Hardly a choice, is it? Catherine, who has always supported British fashion, who always dresses appropriately and who by her demeanour always shows off her clothes to their best advantage... and who owns an iron -

Or Meghan, who - doesn't.

And I imagine the fashion houses couldn't run fast enough from any suggestion of merching.

Didn’t Adelaide Cottage only have four bedrooms? I took that to mean just four not four principal ones plus staff.

My Official Engagement today was to exert my influence over the affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden.

.... OK it's a General Election but it's very tricky work - 3 envelopes, multiple papers to choose from - some with names and some without, and 3 different colours ....

BasiliskStare · 13/09/2026 14:48

I read Angela Kelly's other book. It was so anodyne I'd bet she isn't going to spill any dreadful tea about the RF. Now , I'd love to know the actual story behind tiara gate - shame on me - but I'm not (personally ) convinced AK will diss the RF in any even half damaging way.

She will return to the US and continue to use the title .
