Can't remember if it was Tom Sykes or another reporter but Meg was at Soho house with a huge list of demands already

In the spirit of sharing our engagements I regret to inform the rota the garden party with stakeholders (pot luck annual alfresco lunch with neighbours) has been relocated to a secure facility (neighbours garage) because of rain.

We won't be attending in case someone takes a photo and I hate sipping rose in a garage :-)

Also increasingly belated thanks @jeffgoldblum

To a tiny extent, if squinting from a distance, they do need them.

To be the batshit ones and therefore make the RF look even more reasonable. Defining oneself in terms of the other has been human nature for ever.

I think Charles should cut them off financially. Give them no funding at all. The selfish overindulged overprivileged ungrateful pair have been handed everything on a platter that ordinary people could only dream of and they have squandered it. They are leeches. Charles at least seems to understand how much their behaviour is annoying uk taxpayers.

In this financial climate, with people struggling to afford to live and feed and house their families and pay their bills, it is incredibly distasteful to see tone deaf entitled leeches constantly demanding money.

Charles is seen as weak, how he allowed the Andrew debacle to unfold and now Harry, it seems there is overwhelming support for tidying up the RF website and yet Charles is too worried to do it, despite it being an easy thing to do.

I didn’t realise, the letters patent is a really simple procedure, just a letter written up and printed publicly to say x,y,z are no longer HRH, I thought it was a much more complicated process, so another area where Charles is out of touch and something that could easily be done.

I think journalists should be prevented from using the terms "could", "allegedly" "reportedly" or anything like that which seems to boil down to someone has analysed the situation and made their own mind up.

Edited to say: unless they name their source - and not just "an insider"

Just arriving in thread

TangledUpDown · 13/09/2026 12:32

I do think it was quite cutting that Charles's statement didn't have the usual "of course Harry and Meghan remain much loved members of our family" 😬😬 maybe that line was a QE2 thing.

The whole Harry issue is an interesting one also because in a way he's right. He is a prince. If there's choice and we can get rid of the princes we don't like (see also Andrew) then why can't we go the whole hog and get rid of all of them 🤔

TangledUpDown · 13/09/2026 12:34

Where Harry and Meghan are concerned, whenever I read "an insider" I imagine it is one of the two of them.

Talking of the clothes, has any one been to the exhibition at Buckingham Palace? My sister had a spare ticket so I went along, and was surprised how interesting it was. And such beautiful stuff from the 40s and 50s, I had major dress envy. We even found one my niece loved, reverse image searched, and may well have sorted the prom dress issue....

I remember seeing one of the Queens early formal dresses at Balmoral. It was heavily beaded and the beading was exquisite. Not just beaded fabric made to fit, the beading was applied afterwards with the pattern designed perfectly to replicate round the dress.

That is possible, but it's up to the people, through Parliament.
Being a prince is a title. Harry loves the title and everything that goes with it. Even if we became a republic, Harry would still style himself Prince, like some of these German and Russian aristocrats.
However, it's no longer his job. His choice entirely.

There’s no virtue in hesitating and dragging things out. Machiavelli advised rulers who have difficult things to do, to them quickly and all at once - get them over with and focus on moving on.

And I think KC would be surprised at the approval he will get if he’s firm with HAM.

I suppose the issue is more how far down the line of succession should we grant people any relevance?

Queen Victoria uniquely was the only monarch to ascend through natural succession to the throne from being fifth in line. Her uncles all died without legitimate children, none of them young so it was a foreseeable issue.

I think the problem is that the removal of titles would need to be total. Letters patent supported by parliament can make him plain Harry Windsor. He would no longer be a Prince or a Duke. That way, his wife cant call herself either a Duchess or Princess and then their children are just plain Archie and Lily.
I agree with you. Its a straightforward thing so Charles just needs to get on with it.

Yes, the craftmanship was incredible. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought i would, given I only went to hang out with sis and the kids.

That’s me home from the late addition to my Official September Diary. Accompanied my friend on a walk with her dog . Security concerns mean I can give no further information.

Angela Kelly is apparently releasing a documentary. While I don't like to think of her revealing the Queen's private moments, she will have some interesting angles on tiaragate.

I doubt there'll be anything controversial in it, StartupRepair - I think (?) it was said the RF had provided her with her new home after the Queen died and surely there'll be an NDA attached?

Thanks once again for the new thread, @jeffgoldblum. I'm still trying to catch up, but a question ... does anyone actually know if Meghan's in the UK?
It's said she was seen at Soho House, but that sounds to me like gossip and I wondered if there's anything firm

I do think it will be William's job. He can guise it as slimming / simplifying his monarchy. However, there could be 10+ years of this nonsense and throw the kids in as teens, there's trouble ahead.

spreadandsprinkles · 13/09/2026 12:53

As things stand today, do the hamlets offspring have titles automatically or are they granted by the monarch? I will probably have carked it by then but will spin in my grave if they do😇

Also Portugal allows private armed protection on a case by case basis (I googled)

I bet Eugenie doesn't have it though, amd if he moved there she'd laugh at him if he did.

I’m not a dress person so was quite surprised at how interesting I found it looking close. But I think that is something the WRF have to do with; find something that is interesting in all the functions they attend. Some will be easier than others but unless you engage with what is in front of you you will never see how interesting things can be. HAM just didn’t engage - they never saw beyond the surface.

I think Charles will lose patience now and be supported and encouraged by William to rip the plaster off and get it over and done with. People are sick of this tiresome pair now and wont put up with years of this ridiculous circus.
