Is anyone else on here overwhelmed by the astonishing public service of the posters on here?
It's quite magnificent.

Service is universal! 😃

I think the Lord Chamberlains message was designed to help charities, orgs etc. say no to H&M.

A lot of CEOs, Boards etc. Will understand that they can now set clear boundaries if H&M approach them.

WRT titles, care needs to be taken HRH has been denied to Wallis, removed from Diana and Sarah and held in abeyance for H&M.

Removing titles like Duke and Prince is much rarer. Once you do it for one then it becomes easier to do the same for others.

I agree it was appropriate for AMW and an elegant solution has been found which doesn’t formally remove the Dukedom.

I don’t believe H&M have reached a level where removing their titles is appropriate. The clarity from the Lord Chamberlain clearly puts H&M in their place.

My Official Engagement today was to exert my influence over the affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden.

.... OK it's a General Election but it's very tricky work - 3 envelopes, multiple papers to choose from - some with names and some without, and 3 different colours ....

A vitally important part of your role

Harry is a mummy’s boy, what happened with his mum is very sad (devastating for any child). He was protected within the RF, but I do believe, he was very much a spare who couldn’t find his place after Diana. She loved her boys very much. William always had a destiny, was lead in the right direction as such.

Harry always had a reputation as the fun boy, even Diana would roll her eyes at his childhood antics! William was the good boy. So, the idea of ADHD would fit him well. Meghan thought she’d hit the jackpot marrying a prince. But… What she really needs is a billionaire so she doesn’t have to be the one working, carrying them financially.

However… Careful what you wish for. Money isn’t the key to the Hollywood A-List (what Meghan wants the most). Even Mrs Bezos only has the Kardashians to call on as her best mates. Meghan grew up in LA, her dad in the entertainment industry, believing she could be a princess one day. All that glitters is not gold, as she’s now discovered.

I was stopped by W motorcade recently. Was near a city centre but very quiet traffic-wise (I was the only car on my roundabout, no cars waiting. Only a took a minute but given the traffic level it didn’t seem worth it.

I haven’t read the article as it is subscriber only but I wouldn’t be surprised if some brands are drawing up plans for an appropriate response should Meghan contact them. Anyway, as Royals always pay for their clothes, and Meghan has a reputation for seeking freebies it should be a fairly easy decision.

https://x.com/emilyinpalace/status/2099023544847929650?s=46

This isn’t serious. One woman is going to be the highest profile woman on the planet for the next 50 years, can grant royal warrants, does the brands’ clothes justice.

The other could fall off the front pages in ignominy within 3 years.

It’s all about the bottom line. No CFO is going to back Meghan over Catherine. If a brand is dressing Meghan it’s because they can’t get Kate to wear their clothes. It’s not that Kate would stop wearing a brand’s clothes if Meghan wears them; it’s that they don’t want to run the risk unless they have to.

Harry had the most amazing opportunities. He didn't have the responsibilities of the heir, but could forge his own path. Wealthy, titled, privileged, with doors open that most of us could only dream of.
Look at Anne. She was once the Spare, then went down in the line of succession. Has she whinged endlessly? Played victim? Written a petulant book and spent years trashing her family?
No. She carved a great career as an equestrian and has many charitable commitments. She also supported her late Mother, and now her brother.
She understands her privilege in life.
Harry does not.

This happened last time around as well

Wasn't Meghan supposedly very annoyed that she couldn't get priority access to the Erdem collection as Catherine was a long standing (and prioritised) customer?

Also - I think they’d be very foolish to use an American company for their UK PR strategy by. The two societies are very different. They need people with an understanding of British attitudes, history and behaviour.

Pushy and (what might be seen as) brazen conduct might go down better in the States - I think the British find that too brash on the whole.

Disclimer: I’m not saying Americans are all brash - just that the culture is more sympathetic to loud, self-promoting, performative celebrities.

I think I would use the word 'tolerant' rather than 'sympathetic' to describe the vast majority of Americans. Most of us tolerate them because they provide amusement and for some, entertainment. Rather like monkeys in a zoo.

Some Americans do 'love' that type of celebrity. But just like every country on Earth, some of its citizens are really stupid.

Great example. Harry & Meghan could have had so much to bring to their roles. But they just couldn’t see it. Remember how much we all supported them? It’s real shame… There isn’t really any way back now, for them.

I know this will sound crazy and I know it goes gainst all we know about this couple, but a part of me wouldn’t be surprised if Haz is the one who kicks Megs to the curb. Not because he has suddenly seen the light about her character but because she is a spoke in the wheel of his laser focus delusional belief that he can manifest everything back to normal in the UK. Back to his easy life. Back to the public’s good graces. Back to polo. Back to crazy country weekend hangouts with his mates. I mean, this is long out of his grasp but he doesn’t seem to know this. And there’s Megs whinging and carrying on about hating the UK and trying to endlessly thwart him and What. He. Wants.

Im probably totally wrong but if I’m right, I will be able to smugly quote tweet this post!

I think I can see this as a possibility. But it's going to take time and a lot of serendipity. First he has to stop pouting and start wondering just why he isn't getting what he wants from the RF. Next, he has to realize that he's no longer the UK's beloved cheeky chappy nor Diana's grieving little boy in everybody's minds. Then, he's going to have to have someone close to him start whispering in his ear that 'it's not you, mate, it's her' keeping him from getting what he wants. I think that's a whole lot of planets that are going to have to align.

The late Queen gave them the Commonwealth roles - a tremendous honour, given how much the Commonwealth meant to her, that they could have done so much with. I remember being pleased for them when it was announced, thinking it was something that would really suit Harry.

Exactly. Think about the fantastic opportunity they were given as VPs of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust. Travelling to the various countries, meeting people, supporting projects, getting engaged with some of the least prosperous nations.
They binned it off.

Yes, I remember that. Ridiculous. As was the whole “I had to blend in, never stand out, always bland colours” followed immediately by cosplaying the rich, middle-aged doyennes of Montecito in shades of - you got it - beige in the hope that looking the part would mean she belonged there. And this is the second item about Meghan’s clothes this week: the first (can’t remember where I read it, it wasn’t anywhere serious) was a warning shot that Meghan won’t be going back to the sartorial restrictions of her RF days. The word “silhouette” was used.

As with every other element of their PR, this is a hot mess.

I was just thinking about this & looking through to see if anyone else had put it.

He has his connection to the RF-maybe Pa paying some bills?

But would that be enough for her?

bluegreygreen · 13/09/2026 15:44

The Queen saw the Commonwealth as her life's work.

There were 8 members when she came to the throne and 56 members when she dies, several of which had no historical constitutional links to Britain.

It was a huge honour for Harry and Meghan to be given Commonwealth roles.

AlexandraCarrington · 13/09/2026 15:45

As was the whole “I had to blend in, never stand out, always bland colours”

And yet she wore red, yellow and turquoise when she was in the RF, which suited her far better than the endless beige.

Yep, Mozambique asked to join, despite being an ex Portuguese colony, as they could see the advantages re their local trading block etc.

Angela Kelly is apparently releasing a documentary. While I don't like to think of her revealing the Queen's private moments, she will have some interesting angles on tiaragate.

I think she did truly love and respect the Queen, so I don't think she'd say anything too revealing. I enjoyed her book, and would like to hear more about the clothes and the travel.

Her version of tiara-gate would be interesting, though, and that's fair game, since H has already put it out there.

@AlexandraCarrington

You know, I think she has such great affection and respect for HMTLQ that she won't put in her documentary anything that she wouldn't have wanted to be discussed. So it will be something along the lines of "Ms Markle came in to try on the tiaras Her Late Majesty had asked me to assemble for her. Ms Markle remarked that 'the one with the big emerald' was not there. I replied that that particular one was not available for her use. And as Forrest Gump once said...."that's all I have to say about that".

The Lord Chamberlain's communication should have put HAM in their place. The trouble is, it hasn't done. The flagrant challenge they have made risks weakening the monarchy if no further action is taken. Removing their titles is the obvious way to create distance between them and the monarchy.

Beautiful clothes. Bright colours.

Harry’s role was to support his brother. The problem is he never understood how privileged this position was, just that it seemed unfair. Just as by being surrounded by money he didn’t understand how hard it is to build a career that provides that kind of money and therefore how privileged he was in a position to be handed it.

The commonwealth roles were clearly too far above their abilities for them to embrace.
