Maybe at some point in the long argument about security, someone said something like - there is no way British tax payers can fund your security, you don’t even live here. And Harry heard - if you lived in the UK your security would be funded by the tax payer. Awks 😬

The Sussex team used “Private Citizens” first.

26 August 2026: The Sussex spokesperson
“The Sussexes are returning to the UK in a private citizens capacity, they won’t be carrying out any royal duties”
7th September 2026: The Lord Chamberlain on behalf of the King,
“The Sussexes have returned to the UK as private citizens & won’t be returning to Royal duties, in accordance with their wishes”

I don’t think HAM can be blamed entirely for this. The board of Invinctus have an awful lot of questions to answer too. More so the HAM as they are the ones responsible for it all.

Remember when Harry published Spare he was saying it could all be made right if the RF apologised to him!

Yes the disappearance was odd ! , she was a regular poster for years, she seemed so genuinely certain, perhaps she had inside information that was briefed by hams side ( we know they were pushing that narrative) and when it turned out not to be true felt upset about being falsely informed?
still a real shame she felt that she couldn’t come back , nobody would hold her accountable for being misled .

I agree with this . When you have columnists like Liz Jones (!) and others insisting that the RF needs the Sussex stardust you can see how they would start to believe they are needed . Also , so many writers wondering who are going to plug the gaps when the Kents and Gloucesters are no longer around .
I suspect that H and M remember the heady days of 2018/19 and imagine it could be the same .

PA looked tiny next to the POW though. They had a very long, slow walk behind the coffin from the Royal Palace to the cathedral and the roads looked cobbled, so I would imagine that PA had very sensibly worn flat shoes

The most amazing part of the service was the singing of "Abide with me" (in English) by a gospel choir ~ I was nearly in tears. If you get a chance to watch that bit on YouTube (it's towards the end of the service) it's well worth it but put your tissues on standby

Now, back to the Fussexes . . . .

Ravec exists for the protection on VIP and public figures therefore it now makes me wonder if per KC'S letter they are private citizens will they even be considered/assessed by Ravec in the first instance? Conversely, with being deemed a public figure, it would surely mean they have to be assessed (even if said assessment concludes security is not necessary) which provides more leverage to at least be assessed.
So whilst on the face of it KC'S letter does appear to restate the Sandringham summit has this been quietly slipped into the statement? Not withstanding some legal checking (if I'm correct) to state they are private citizens. Equally, surely if they have already been private citizens would Harry even have been able to request a judicial review with regards to ravecs decision? Hopefully someone with legal knowledge might have a helpful view on this?

I had been thinking how it is ironic that one of the problems within the marriage of Charles and Diana was that Charles was frustrated that whilst he was pursuing important causes like the environment, organic farming or whatever, the press were only interested in Diana and what Diana was wearing etc. He even tried making jokes about it occasionally in speeches but they didn’t really land. And now he is King he is completely overshadowed by an angry son and his troublesome wife.

History repeating itself indeed.

DH and I know a couple of veterans who were involved at Invictus but no longer due to it becoming the HAM show.

People seem to spend like sugar-crazed toddlers with a year's pocket money in the Disney Store at these things, ime. My experience being very minor local causes, but even then, when people get drunk and competitive, auctioned things go for mad prices.

Agree and his two massive relentless obsessions media and security possibly indicate a clinical level of paranoia associated with a MH crisis. I have seen many long term weed smokers / drug users mentally and physically unravel in their 40s - it gets them earlier than alcohol. Was there a report that MM told the family she was worried about his MH?

When and where Archie was born and who his parents are is very publicly known, so I'm not sure why there would be any problem with his birth certificate.

I think it's different, though, because Diana was (for the most part) his wife and a working royal.
Harry has chosen his own path, changed his mind and now wants the original path. Sort of. Nice bits only.
It's easier to deal with, because it's nore clear cut; you got what you wanted, Harry. Suck it up.
