King Charles orders Harry and Meghan to be treated like ordinary citizens

Apparently an order has gone out from King Charles saying that Harry and Meghan are to be treated like ordinary citizens as they are not working members of the royal family. That's according to the DM so it must be right. The thought of those two being pleased at being ordinary is too much.

I wonder just how low they will keep their profile and if it's to do with them wishing to be involved in charities. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to set up their own mock royal court.

Shes not though is she. Its all getting more and more cringe. As if she's the queen. I was happy for them, but this was the last straw for me.

So what happens now? Are you cancelling your BRF charge card?

StripeyPJs · 07/09/2026 21:44

Oh have a day off, Charles! You should be glad anyone wants to ‘work’ for your dysfunctional family at all.

IcedPurple · 07/09/2026 21:45

DryadsRest · 07/09/2026 21:39

This is the most interesting part of the statement- if H and M are like private citizens then surely queries about courtesies should go to them not King Charles!

“Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace”

I think H&M may have been trying to lobby official or semi official bodies. We know that Harry has been harassing a succession of Home Secretaries about his sekurridee. Perhaps this is a way to preempt them trying to set up some sort of 'rival court'?

myrtleWilson · 07/09/2026 21:46

@BiteSizeByzantine how is she not the Queen?

Harry did, actually. Half in, ass out isn’t a role though.

Who do you hate?

Not them.

damnatiomemoriae · 07/09/2026 21:46

I love that on the RF board that there has to be an explanation of why someone is Queen.

Well, if Camilla isn’t Queen, who is?

I wasn’t particularly stoked about it in the beginning either. In over it now. But she’s doing a lovely job and it’s a strange time (and thread) to mention it.

StripeyPJs · 07/09/2026 21:51

Charles, Camilla & Anne will be gone soon.

Is it only William and Kate that ‘work’ now? Edward and Sophie I suppose, too (not sure what they do?). I mean, who else is there? Disgraced Andrew and Fergie, their questionable daughters…

It’s slim pickings.

What does “treating them like ordinary citizens” mean?

Why do you think H&M have returned to the UK?

Genuine question.

DoubleShotEspresso · 07/09/2026 21:55

IcedPurple · 07/09/2026 21:10

Eh? Why the hell would I ask the Lord Chamberlain why a whiny prince and his jam selling wife chose to bring their children to a country they deem unsafe?

You're the one fretting over Harry and Meghan's 'feelings' and playing the 'think of the children' card. Perhaps they should be thinking of the children they chose to put in what only a few months ago they were saying was an incredibly dangerous situation. Those children are their responsibility after all. Not mine and not the British taxpayer's.

Why would you ask the Lord Chamberlain or me? Why do you even need to know the decision-making or thoughts of any other couple? The letter referenced a private office for HAM ....

I am no more fretting than you appear to be frothing here, I am sure they have thought of their children, but as with all else on this thread, it's a mere speculation.

There are many others I would far rather not fund than HAM, who have done far more harm than these two, yet these are the responsibility of the British taxpayer too?

I thought it was Charles illness but that aside I have no idea. They seemed to be happy in the USA and would have less hate there.

Charlize43 · 07/09/2026 21:57

I don't think anyone can just decree that they are not going to behave in an entitled way - Harry was born into it, and Meagain is pretentious and pushy.

They don't look the type that would buy everyone drinks...

smilesy · 07/09/2026 20:58

But it doesn’t matter what they feel/ want or what they have read. If the actual security experts (you know, those who do this for a job and are good at it, as opposed to armchair experts or ex royals with hurty feels) don’t think that there is a threat that warrants security, then why should the Sussexes get it? No one is going to want to put them at risk if there is seems to actually be a risk. The security services would not want that on their watch. But clearly there isn’t a current credible risk or they would have security. Like Taylor Swift did

typo

Edited

And Taylor Swift got the full security for a VERY limited amount of time - hours, rather than days. When there was a real threat.

H&M want it (at least) twice a day every day, not because of any real, material threat but because people are nasty about them on X.

Paranoia and entitlement.

If someone has held public office and as a result knows state secrets which could be compromised if that person were to be kidnapped, then yes, they are the responsibility of the British taxpayer.

The same does not apply to the aspiring influencer and her intellectually challenged layabout husband.

As I said before, I really don't think you understand how RAVEC work. At all.

Well done Charles, and rightly so! I bet they are seething (tee hee!).

You seem awfully invested.

I really do not understand the amount of glee and pleasure that people take from the hope that these two will fail.

With the types that we have running countries, running newspapers, running Social Media and manipulating societies, running around with the Epstein's of this world, and so on - these two are the ones to take aim at? ??

I don't think it's glee and pleasure, more that they stated they wanted privacy and to step away from public life and have done everything opposite. It often feels like a full on pity party and I feel like saying to them, mate, just life your life and be happy, all the interviews and the book etc, has not brought him peace and honestly, deep in my soul I think his wife is being an untrained therapist and encouraging him to unload but she is doing it in the most financially fruitful way she can think of.

No they don't. They used to, but their protection was removed several years ago.

MidlyConcerned · 07/09/2026 22:06

For those who don’t remember, when KC got married, us gullible public were told that Camilla would NEVER be Queen and that when Charles became king she would be called the Princess Consort.

However the MiB played a blinder with the media and managed to change public opinion so that on the eve of her Platinum Jubilee, the Queen said she wanted Camilla to be known as Queen Consort when Charles became king.

When Charles became king her title was initially Queen Consort but over time the palace started calling her Queen Camilla. If you google Camilla having Covid, the BP press realise calls her Queen Consort Camilla.

I mean I would never call her Queen but she does have my respect for keeping her head down and mouth shut unlike her step son!!

I am actually laughing at your interpretations and transparent determination in your one upmanship, it's pathetic to read.

As before, I perfectly understand how RAVEC works, it's a shame so many on here and the numerous threads on this clearly do not. At all.

But then these are the same people referring to people they have never met in derogatory ways, this couple can't win, whatever they do (or not). FWIW I have no desire to see them being working royals any more than I want to purchase mass produced jam. That doesn't equate though to me wishing complete strangers, or their children ill.
