King Charles orders Harry and Meghan to be treated like ordinary citizens

Apparently an order has gone out from King Charles saying that Harry and Meghan are to be treated like ordinary citizens as they are not working members of the royal family. That's according to the DM so it must be right. The thought of those two being pleased at being ordinary is too much.

I wonder just how low they will keep their profile and if it's to do with them wishing to be involved in charities. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to set up their own mock royal court.

https://www.tatler.com/article/princess-anne-survived-1974-kidnap-attempt

There were many shot and injured in this kidnap "attempt", it was a big story at the time, where security was obviously reviewed afterwards as a result of this incident. Anne was spectacularly brave in the moment but imagine if this happened in modern day times with the tech and ammunition now available to anybody with ill will towards anybody in the RF.

Edited

My point was to correct your assertion that she 'was kidnapped'

DoubleShotEspresso · 07/09/2026 20:45

Not at all confused. I think you are spectacularly missing the point here, attempt or successful. it was a pretty hairy situation that just about fell short of anybody being killed.

Oh, I think I just prefer accuracy - it's easy to 'spectacularly miss the point' when a poster contradicts themselves in their evidence. A bit of an own goal.

AlexandraCarrington · 07/09/2026 20:51

And yet Anne doesn't get security except when she is carrying out official engagements. Why should H & Co be more deserving of security than she is?

I don't give a flying fck about Harry and Meghan and really dont understand why they occupy so much of people's thoughts in their head!

I feel the same way about Football. But I don’t go to the pub and tell everyone so while they are watching.

No, it is a clarification for county officials wrt titles and also wrt policing responsibility, and was probably issued in response to questions from county officials.

The Duke and Duchess themselves have not stated they intend to swan in and play at being royal. The King has not been reported to say, "Over my dead body!" when informed of their planned return to the UK. The idea that the King, an old man probably dying of cancer, would purposely insult or humiliate his son and jeopardise his chance of a relationship with his grandchildren is one people should be ashamed of.

Nope because it’s all been self inflicted by the Sussex’s

I meant that HAM feel the need/want the informed security that only RAVEC bring, in contrast to their "privately paid" security.
I am perfectly aware of how RAVEC operate (and why), of course they won't provide full security unless it's deemed "necessary". Harry & Meghan clearly feel the necessity, none of us know what records or reports of threats they have read, there are still two children to be considered here, whatever any of us think of their parents and their actions.

RAVEC don't respond to 'wants'.

I really don't think you are.

Oh please, the 'think of the children!' thing isn't going to wash.

I asked you before, but you didn't answer. If Britain is so unsafe, why on earth did Harry and Meghan uproot their children and move them there without first getting the security they feel they 'need'? They are the ones responsible for their children's security. Not the British taxpayer.

AlexandraCarrington · 07/09/2026 20:54

is strange though how they are treated differently from other non working royals.

How are they treated differently from other non-working royals?

DoubleShotEspresso · 07/09/2026 20:37

so I would say RAVEC are pretty good at their job

Perhaps that is why Harry is so keen to have them then?

I don’t think RAVEC comes via subscription.

But it doesn’t matter what they feel/ want or what they have read. If the actual security experts (you know, those who do this for a job and are good at it, as opposed to armchair experts or ex royals with hurty feels) don’t think that there is a threat that warrants security, then why should the Sussexes get it? No one is going to want to put them at risk if there is seems to actually be a risk. The security services would not want that on their watch. But clearly there isn’t a current credible risk or they would have security. Like Taylor Swift did

typo

IAmATorturedPoet · 07/09/2026 20:59

Harry doesn’t seem to realise that there is a difference between ‘want’ and ‘need’. What Harry wants, Harry doesn’t necessarily get.

If he wants burly men with Glocks at his beck and call then he should have stayed in US.

What a load of garbage. The media hate them so of course they enjoy running them down. Leave them alone for goodness sake.

The King would do well to remember he is supposed to be head of the Anglican church so shouldn't he start behaving like a christian. I was think of the parable of the prodigal son.

Tell me you don't understand the parable of the prodigal son without.... etc

Wasn't there something in the good book about turning the other cheek?

H did that. And someone slapped it if I recall and compared him to a stallion or whatnot.

But that was in a shite book.

😂😂😂

The Prodigal was firstly remorseful and repentant, prior to forgiveness being on the table. Any christian knows that.

I'm looking forward to hearing Harry say those famous words: "Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son..."

No clue. I don't know them, just like most commenting on this thread, why don't you write to the address in KC's letter and ask them yourself?

Why would they be? And also, why are you desperate for them to be? That's what needs analysis.
King Charles's office is inundated with enquiries about H&M (as usual) and they clarify what was agreed between the family several years ago. So put simply, nothing has changed. It doesn't seem like there is anything to see here, folks!
Why can't some people let this couple be? This obsession is a disorder.

So people are mentally ill now for having an opinion? 😆

If the U.K. is so dangerous, as H has repeatedly said- why on earth did he uproot his wife and DC and move over here ? And make announcements about the move ?
Make that make sense 🤷‍♀️

Eh? Why the hell would I ask the Lord Chamberlain why a whiny prince and his jam selling wife chose to bring their children to a country they deem unsafe?

You're the one fretting over Harry and Meghan's 'feelings' and playing the 'think of the children' card. Perhaps they should be thinking of the children they chose to put in what only a few months ago they were saying was an incredibly dangerous situation. Those children are their responsibility after all. Not mine and not the British taxpayer's.

Have you read the prodigal son?

The son comes to the father to say " I have sinned against you and am not worthy to be your son" and to ask him to let him be his servant. That has to happen first.

It's not about a father letting his son do what he likes, even if it hurts others, and continuing to do it. That is not Christian forgiveness. If people can do what they want with the expectation that they'll be forgiven while they can continue to do what they want, then that is no kindness to either them nor the people effected by their actions.

It's about the son being truly sorry and humbling himself and wanting to do what is right in the future.

That’s an ugly and unfounded accusation.

You seem to think that Harry needs Ravec security because of a failed kidnapping plot before he was born. That’s ludicrous.

Also that Harry should have Ravec protection because he wants it. That’s not how it works.

Harry and his wife and children will get the protection that Ravec says he needs based on their expert assessment. And that assessment wi be ongoing. That’s logical, fair and warranted.

Daisywhatsyouranswer · 07/09/2026 21:13

OlympicWomen · 07/09/2026 20:17

Unfortunately, Harry has become so focused on his title and status, he can't see beyond it. If only he listened to, and understood, the Home Office information about security, and how RAVEC works
Or got someone to explain it to him.

I think this is very valid. I think it’s his whole identity, he wanted the whole half in half out, and he followed Megan for her dream thinking he could still be a working royal , but when he chose to be, using his title to leverage fame and fortune for her dream.

the fact he can’t monetise it, is something causing him huge resentment as he feels entitled. I don’t think he will ever stop trying, as they have failed at everything and this is all that’s left. If they had succeeded I think it would have been different. But that can’t be a happy home. The mere fact they uprooted themselves to come back to the uk to pretend they are working royals again, is just really sad.

Pedallleur · 07/09/2026 21:20

the good news is Meg has been spotted in North Oxfordshire at an exclusive health club. So now you all know where not to go and if a member you can cancel or avoid the times she goes there
