King Charles orders Harry and Meghan to be treated like ordinary citizens

Apparently an order has gone out from King Charles saying that Harry and Meghan are to be treated like ordinary citizens as they are not working members of the royal family. That's according to the DM so it must be right. The thought of those two being pleased at being ordinary is too much.

I wonder just how low they will keep their profile and if it's to do with them wishing to be involved in charities. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to set up their own mock royal court.

Anne and Edward didn’t have 24/7 security and their mother was Queen .
I am absolutely certain that H and his wife DO want security at the same level ( if more) as W and C .

Well that did't work out too well as Anne got kidnapped didn't she? She did for some tie afterwards receive full security.
We also forget that at one point one of Andrew' daughters used her publicly funded security to go and find her Arab gifted Bentley that she had parked unlocked on the Kings Road.

We also need to acknowledge if not it seems going by the absolute glee from some on this thread that just being black has placed Meghan at a higher level of risk than very key members of the RF. There were credible noted risks of real harm reported for HAM, so whatever you think of them, spare a thought for their children. The risk is being overlooked on this thread with those obsessing about stats. The two are connected but not at all the same.

Absolutely! Princess Anne was once the victim of a kidnapping attempt at gunpoint - she only gets security when she's on official royal duties.
Oh, and she was once actually the Spare.

I mean, this isn't reassuring. People may dislike H&M, but they and their kids do deserve not to be at risk of kidnap attempts.

You should try spewing. It's much more fun.

@myrtleWilsoni don’t believe that QE2 wanted H&M to have public funded security as non working royals. I do believe though that KC3 wants it for them. KC3 seems way more out of touch with the public than QE2 and also way less concerned with his own public duty than was QE2.

Not sure why you would think that. This letter makes it fairly clear that public funding in any shape
or form is not on the cards for the Sussexes. The late Queen did write to RAVEC asking that it would be ensured that Harry was kept safe, but accepting that it was not her decision. The King hasn’t done that. He is acting as King, not as Harry’s father

Nobody "deserves" it.
Which is why RAVEC deliberate, analyse and allocate taxpayer funded security when and where it is necessary.
Not because somebody is a Prince.

Why did Harry and Meghan choose to return to Britain if it's so unsafe? Why did they deliberately put their children into a 'dangerous' environment?

The British public is not responsible for the safety of Harry and Meghan's children. Harry and Meghan are.

That’s demonstrably not true as the court documents will confirm

Queen Elizabeth wanted Prince Harry to have "effective security" even after he and his wife Meghan Markle left the Royal Family in 2020, a letter has revealed.
Newly published court documents which include the letter, show that after the 2020 break-up summit at Sandringham following the Sussexes' departure from the Firm, the late monarch's Private Secretary wrote to the Government saying it "is of paramount importance" to her that Harry and Meghan get protection.

Well maybe HAM should stop posting photos of their DC on SM ?
I have absolutely no wish to see those children harmed in any way but their parents ‘ behaviour puts them more at risk .

@Princessfluffy QE2 wrote to RAVEC about their security re exit saying

"You will understand well that ensuring that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain safe is of paramount importance to Her Majesty and her family.
"Given the Duke's public profile by virtue of being born into the Royal family, his military service, the Duchess's own independent profile and the well-documented history of targeting of the Sussex family by extremists, it is imperative that the family continues to be provided with effective security"

What a couple of twits they have turned out to be.

OlympicWomen · 07/09/2026 20:17

Unfortunately, Harry has become so focused on his title and status, he can't see beyond it. If only he listened to, and understood, the Home Office information about security, and how RAVEC works
Or got someone to explain it to him.

damnatiomemoriae · 07/09/2026 20:18

Someone got an Arab gifted Bentley?

Imagine working your arse off in various locations and just getting a whinging prince.

I wonder if they too would have preferred a Bentley.

They must feel robbed.

If you want to know what the military think of them, have a look on the ARRSE forum. Hint,it’s not positive!

Especially regarding the certain H Prince and women.

WitlessCheeseEatingPeasant · 07/09/2026 20:18

No one wants any of them to be unsafe. They’ll get the security deemed necessary and appropriate. That probably won’t be the same as the security that makes them feel important and special.

myrtleWilson · 07/09/2026 20:20

@DoubleShotEspresso Anne didn't get kidnapped unless I've missed a whole chunk of royal history

fridaynightzzz · 07/09/2026 20:20

I don’t want them to have security. If they had gotten what they wanted they would spend all their time flitting around the planet on our coin.
If they wanted to live on Royal property and live a quiet life with security available if and when required, sure. Not paying for their self promotion tours.

Yes if there is a credible threat then security will be provided for the duration of that threat. 24/7 armed Met security for all four Sussex family members for the rest of their lives is a frankly ridiculous notion.

https://www.tatler.com/article/princess-anne-survived-1974-kidnap-attempt

There were many shot and injured in this kidnap "attempt", it was a big story at the time, where security was obviously reviewed afterwards as a result of this incident. Anne was spectacularly brave in the moment but imagine if this happened in modern day times with the tech and ammunition now available to anybody with ill will towards anybody in the RF.

The day Princess Anne survived a violent kidnap attempt

Fifty-one years ago today, the unflappable royal survived an attempted kidnapping that turned violent

I can’t get worked up about paying for his security. He has to have to it by virtue of his birth, not his life choices, so I don’t see why he should fund it.

I’m sure he’d rather not have to have it at all.

Nonsense! He left his job! He’s no longer a senior royal, QE2 children didn’t get top tier security, except Charles and family … H&M spend their lives pushing themselves and kids now as their PR, and the expect the UK to pay for the fall out …. Fuck that! They should pay their own security and RAVEC will step in if any real issue comes up … their idea of a real issue, not Hazmats idiotic cartoon theories

jeffgoldblum · 07/09/2026 20:32

mythbuster88 · 07/09/2026 19:45

Why would they be? And also, why are you desperate for them to be? That's what needs analysis.
King Charles's office is inundated with enquiries about H&M (as usual) and they clarify what was agreed between the family several years ago. So put simply, nothing has changed. It doesn't seem like there is anything to see here, folks!
Why can't some people let this couple be? This obsession is a disorder.

I would say a statement from the king issued to the government along with many others and made public for clarity, is as far from nothing to see here as you can get!
why do you want to stop viewing and discussing a very important topic that is literally being broadcast on the tv news globally?
is it not important for people to keep up to date on all news!

RAVEC don't need to 'imagine'. They continuously monitor threats against members of the royal family, and will of course provide additional security if deemed necessary. There have been no serious attempts against any royals for some time now, so I would say RAVEC are pretty good at their job. If Harry disagrees, he should have stayed in California.

Gibstub · 07/09/2026 20:36

What a load of garbage. The media hate them so of course they enjoy running them down. Leave them alone for goodness sake.

The King would do well to remember he is supposed to be head of the Anglican church so shouldn't he start behaving like a christian. I was think of the parable of the prodigal son.

Quite. RAVEC intelligence is from the Met, MI5, MI6 and counter terror operatives.
Harry does not have more intel than them.
