King Charles orders Harry and Meghan to be treated like ordinary citizens

Apparently an order has gone out from King Charles saying that Harry and Meghan are to be treated like ordinary citizens as they are not working members of the royal family. That's according to the DM so it must be right. The thought of those two being pleased at being ordinary is too much.

I wonder just how low they will keep their profile and if it's to do with them wishing to be involved in charities. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to set up their own mock royal court.

Oh, ho ho! Now THAT one’s my personal favourite, Iced.

It truly is one for the connoisseur, I feel. In fact, I confess I’ll be a little disappointed if it doesn’t make an appearance.😟

cough cough

Found it:

The King's letter in full:
Following the decision by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to relocate to the UK, we have received a number of requests for Guidance. To help avoid doubt or confusion, The King has directed that the following information be shared.

It is well known that in January 2020 the Duke and Duchess stepped down from undertaking representative duties on behalf of The Sovereign, and are no longer working Members of The Royal Family. This position, distinct from the State and Royal duties undertaken by the working Royal Family, and with the personal latitude it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish, will continue to be fully respected.

It follows that there is no change to the current status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used. The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.

Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace. Any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant Police authorities.

All correspondence and administrative questions relating to the couple should be sent directly to their office, which will continue to operate separately from The Royal Household.

The Right Honourable The Lord Benyon GCVO

But we have to call Camilla queen? Can these guys all do one?

Daisywhatsyouranswer · 07/09/2026 18:53

I do think Harry and Megan will be angered by this. As said, Charles will not have taken this step so publicly, lightly. He’s done it has his hand was forced. I also don’t think he will have discussed it with them, likely they got a copy of it, no more,

the fact he didn’t even tell his father he was moving back, says a lot about this relationship now sadly, it is very broken,

harry nd Megan were clearly going to behave as working royals, use their hrh title and try to access public funds, to support their activities. This will be to bolster them in the USA, as royal again. Revitalise the brand,

they have been firmly told they will not do so. And no entity should permit this. So it’s done, Harry has under estimated his father, I would assume that Harry will now play the victim card and throw a hissy fit.

I think some posters are reading through the actual, clearly written lines, suggesting it’s saying ‘welcome back to the fold H&M’ as opposed to what the words are actually saying - I think whomever said ‘smack down’ sums it up nicely! 😂
personally I’m very proud of KC3 today and I’m not a royalist

Yep 👍, I think he’s played a blinder! 😁

I think you’ll find that HAM will care very much what “a king” is saying.😲🤣

Surely you realise that H is a committed royalist and would not agree with your anti-monarchist views? Or had you missed that little detail?

seems fair enough.
is strange though how they are treated differently from other non working royals.

How are they treated differently? Which ones?

I would say because he thought he could be something other than a Royal, but has quickly realised that he cannot survive in the wild. He'd probably never paid a bill in his life before. The rest of them know full well they will just have to fend for themselves on very limited talent and skills so aren't stupid enough to bite the hand that feeds them.

It seems the process of natural selection is working in H’s case. He’s now roaming free in a hostile and unprotected environment and his Olympic-level dumbness may well be what causes his extinction as a royal.

The quid pro quo of this should be that H&M's children are left absolutely and completely alone and the national press are not allowed to publish any details of their lives (schools etc) that might put them at risk.

I am not a fan of Harry and Meghan but in the absence of any public position for them and publicly funded security for their children, there should be an absolute ban on publishing any information that might make the kids a target. We should be given absolutely no details of their lives except what the parents choose to publish (and if they're wise, they'll very limit that).

But he is not an ordinary citizen, he is the son of the King.

He is the son of the king, but he’s in the unusual position of not being a working royal, a bit like Edward when he abdicated, it’s rare this happens, but Harry is now a private citizen as his own request.

Of course he will always be the son of the monarch, until Charles passes, then he will be the estranged brother of the monarch, but he chose private citizen ship.

and wrote a book, and did interviews, to tell everyone repeatedly why, about fleeing for their lives, their freedom flight, their desire for privacy, how awful they all were. How they schemed and leaked, how evil his fathers wife was, how cold his father, showed us all how jealous he was of his brother.

The UK press has announced several times that they will not make public the school out of consideration for the kids.

Well, they've certainly shared a lot about their children's lives so far.
Those children are not at risk from the UK press. The publicity will be from the usual, Meghan's Instagram

The only people who ever publicise anything about Harry and Meghan's kids are Harry and Meghan. There have been no private details in the press about them.

But they're not wise. They frequently post about their children, including photos of them in bathing suits.

The British press have an informal agreement not to post 'unofficial' photos of royals, especially the children. There's no reason why this would not also apply to the Sussex family. If any information about their school or other activities is 'leaked', you can be all but certain it comes from the Sussexes themselves. AsI said above, past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour.

Princessfluffy · 07/09/2026 19:23

H&M continue to pursue half in half out to get other people to fund their ridiculous lifestyle, be that money from charities they “support” aka are supported by or by fleecing the tax payer to provide £5M a year for security that no other non working royal has and way more security than even Princess Anne has. They clearly still use HRH too. The reign of KC3 looks like a joke right now. Why should tax payers suffer daily from lack of policing and security in their own lives whilst Prince Harry swans around with armed police motorcades on his way out for a coffee.
