Well, I'd agree - I thought I'd said that in my last post - unacceptable. But no, I don't think he was a simple, moronic racist - it's more nuanced. I have read a lot about him, honestly, and that description isn't really justified. It was - what - 50+ years ago that he said that? Those 'jokey' (I'm not justifying them) references were viewed very differently, but no - he should not have said them - no argument there.

I was on a residential summer drama course organised by my LEA in 1976. We were given lessons in stage make up and one lesson was on 'racial types' where we were instructed on exactly this kind of crude stereotyping. The LEA was a Labour-dominated one and no-one thought there was anything wrong with this approach.

All I'm saying is - look at the time and the context. Very few people think differently from the prevailing mores of their time. Some do, yes, but most of us just accept the current thinking. In those days BAME people were fewer in the UK and the culture hadn't adjusted to them at all - they were still 'othered'.

A nuanced racist rather than a crude racist? Give it a rest.

Like I say, I read these threads because the psycho drama of H&M is endlessly fascinating on a soap oera level, but let´s be real, the royal family are a bunch of massively privileged, entitled people, very out of touch with the vast majority. The circles they move in are well known for being classist and a bit racist. I mean, the classist bit is kind of the point of the whole system.

H&M are clearly quite bonkers, but the fawning about the rest of them really does get boring.

I will be surprised if she isn’t out of the country in a week honestly! , already we have had an article that she’s afraid to do the school run( obvious bollocks!) , in my opinion it’s just setting up a narrative about how she has to leave…whether with the children or not is the question.

What, another narrative about needing to leave, Jeff? Haven't we been here before? Hmm

I don't expect her to have any intention of staying, just as I didn't last time, but even I believe it might take a bit longer than a week

And about whatever school the kids may or may not attend, I realise some will appreciate having royal-adjacent children on roll, but if H&M visit the same chaos on them as they do on everything else I don't suppose there's any obligation for a school to keep them there

jeffgoldblum · 01/09/2026 15:31

Sorry ! Just laughing to myself when I recall Harry seriously and with some exasperated surprise….informing us all that the royal family…the monarchy….is a hierarchy!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

'Womble'???

Is that a misspelling?!

No - I remember this firm from my days back on the Post Office Inquiry - they are an international law firm

I think Kingsley Napier have strong connections to Prince Harry and have acted for several times before on his privacy lawsuits - so I can see why Sentebale might want new representation

Soooo many narratives puzzled! , it’s hard to keep track of them all isn’t it?
a mean barely a week before the announcement of their triumphant return…we had Meghan briefing that she was humiliated and fed up with the treatment from the royal family in July and was done with them !!!
now apparently they are here ! , at this point unless I actually see her , I’m finding it hard to even believe she is actually here at all !
and yes I’m probably very , very wrong but part of me is waiting for the reverse ferret where suddenly we discover…no they are not here , no they are not coming with their children….they never said that the evil U.K. media said it! 🤷‍♀️

I don't quite follow @Lunde - is your thinking that Sentebale might use Kingsley Napley so that PH doesn't?

Edited

Sentebale were with Kingsley Napley -who have a very longstanding relationship with Prince Harry and have represented him on all sorts of legal issues in the past

My thinking is that Sophie has chosen Womble Bond Dickinson to break away from a firm that has strong Harry connections. As Sentebale's previous solicitors they may have actually advised Harry and the trustees about how to oust Sophie from the board and not be impartial in the matter.

I meant to post this on the previous thread regarding Meghan's attention seeking "march" at the Düsseldorf IG.

Much of the narrative focussed on the inappropriate march. However I think that her flashing the military/invited guests while climbing in/sitting in the buggy in such as skimpy outfit 😮But it certainly grabbed the headlines as nobody remembers the veterans 🙄

You're not alone, Jeff, though I'm also prepared to be utterly wrong

That said, returning after all they've said and done is such an obvious mark of failure that I could just about buy them having to stay quiet to get any entree into the family at all, but if that's the case it certainly won't last. Whether it's security, an invite to a royal event, whatever ... if it's made clear they won't get anything they want their mouths will be off and running again

myrtleWilson · 01/09/2026 15:56

I think @Lunde that @bluegreygreen said that SC has moved from WBD to the new firm not vice versa?

Oh my lunde!! , I don’t know who the man is in the first picture but he appears to be wearing an invictus lanyard! ….that is not an admiring look it it?

I liked them too. I had the whole set, it’s how we got my youngest reading just after he became verbal at 8. He’s a man now, well into his 30’s, and it’s only 3 years ago I took the whole lot to Kenya with me and donated them to a school.

It was Read Write Ink that tipped me over the edge, the Fred talk, I hated it and hated those books brought into my life by my middle grandchildren. I had the whole set but they still live in the cupboard under the stairs and that’s where they’ll stay. I wouldn’t wish them on anyone else.

I know you are right puzzled , honestly I’m having real trouble understanding the brass neck of this couple after everything they have said and done, just rocking up here expecting people to welcome them back!!!
any normal people would be mortified and embarrassed!!! …god even amber heard had the good sense to keep a low profile! 🤷‍♀️

I hadn't seen those images before so hadn't thought of that, Lunde, but it would certainly explain the choice of such an inappropriate outfit ... and I certainly wouldn't assume that Meghan gave a stuff about the veterans in the first place if there was any risk of them becoming the focus instead of herself

I wouldn’t usually criticise another woman’s body but she really really does not suit shorts .

I can't believe those pictures. Does she have no self awareness whatsoever?

Odd move then! , do we think it’s like divorces where one spouse purposefully engages a firm so the other can’t? , forcing Harry to hire someone else? , or simply a coincidence 🤷‍♀️

Wiglio · 01/09/2026 16:23

Hopefully the change in solicitors means SC is less likely to settle

LemonDash · 01/09/2026 16:27

god even amber heard had the good sense to keep a low profile! 🤷‍♀️

"Even" @jeffgoldblum ? The British courts ruled that Depp had abused her "to a civil standard", the US court case was not run to the same integrity.

Amber Heard was clearly very messy and troubled and abusive back but the main reason she had the sense to keep a low profile for a few years is for her own safety. The vilification of her including by many women was awful.

Anyway, it's quite a different scenario for Harry and Meghan. Allegedly they've said they will keep a low profile, and like you I hope they do, but suspect they can't.

There will be tons of false rumours though.
