Regarding RAVEC, if anyone can answer. Before Megxit, did H have the bells and whistles security he is now demanding???

No , only on official business or when accompanied by senior royals and covered by theirs , he had the same standing as all the other working royals.

His security was always goi g to reduce the further away he got from the throne. In the same way as Anne, Edward etc he would only have got it when he was representing the monarch. Not 24/7

IcedPurple · 01/09/2026 14:35

Me too but I think now that he's permanently living here, he's entitled to it

He's not 'entitled' to it.

As I said above, RAVEC class him as a 'Tier 2' individual. His security is based on a threat assessment, not on simply being the son of the king. Just like other royals in a similar situation. He's not special.

IcedPurple · 01/09/2026 14:37

HeirNspareBNB · 01/09/2026 14:31

I think yes, because he was a working royal.

Not necessarily. Royal security is generally very discreet. Harry wasn't getting convoys and flashing lights as routine.

Exactly.

They will now have to do a reassessment based on him living being a non-working royal here rather than him having a 'bespoke' plan because he's visiting.

The fact that they carried out his reassessment in July, and he didn't tell them that he was moving home before that (which he clearly already knew), means he has wasted yet more taxpayers' money, as the assessment now needs to be repeated.

AutumnCrowInEmeritoVeritas · 01/09/2026 14:42

That's some existential dark comedy, isn't it? That Harry's demise would be a bit of a 'meh' and a shrug constitutionally speaking. And was already the case when Meg married him.

Anyway, am I right in thinking that RAVEC would require evidence that HaM are now resident in the UK? To risk assess a family of four effectively, the committee would need to be sure of their physical whereabouts and legal domicile.

Absolutely, not only is the man a liability, he's an expensive liability!

Yes, all the convoys and flashing lights started after the Spectacle for the World.

Perhaps a new series of readers authored by Meghan!

😱 You joke but I wouldn't be surprised if it did in fact happen.

A set of readers about a young prince and princess who went to school in the US now going to school in the UK, incorporating both American and English spelling.

If she or her people are reading here, and it does indeed happen, then you and I should receive some royalties.

Absolutely, people don't seem to understand this. It's not about status, it's about risk.

I do agree with you. However I think whilst for Ravec it's about risk , it would not surprise me if for H it's equally about status.

And his general importance to the Crown has declined, quite apart from his slipping down the line of succession. No one seriously wants Harry as king, so there is not much to be precious about from a national-interest perspective. The same applies to Meghan. In terms of national interest, they simply don't have that much significance so security is surely tailored to that.

I was just thinking Id hate to be the teachers at that school

I'm a teacher at a normal, run of the mill primary school over here & even regular parents can be precious & make you inwardly roll your eyes so I cannot imagine what those poor teachers will be dealing with 🙈

ETA @Starryfifty & @TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis VB was very much a Roland Mouret knock off at the start but she has evolved, I'm not a fan of her clothes but her make-up is my Christmas/Birthday present every year, that's where she's found her level, sunglasses & bags too but I'm not a huge fan of them either for the price

It is.

Referring again to the documents from Harry's failed JR, it was mentioned that security assessments take into account not only the likelihood of a successful attack on the individual, but also the impact such an attack might have on national security. In Harry's case, he is the King's son and 5th in line, so he's not a 'nobody'. Then again, he holds no official role and it's highly unlikely he'd ever be King. When he flounced off to California, it barely made a ripple in terms of constitutional impact. Hence his status as a 'Tier Two' individual.

He and his family simply aren't that important, and that's what he can't accept.

I'm sure you're right! He's entirely driven by that, and irked that they judge on risk.

It's all about status. I genuinely don't believe he is afraid of being attacked etc. If he was worried about his or his family's security, he wouldn't be knocking on random doors in London half cut. He wouldn't leak to the press about his family, plans, etc but he does

Indeed! And I think the media themselves have to share the blame for his overinflated ego , since his early years they have consistently featured him as equal to his brother and then we had the Fab Four rubbish! , it was only a matter of time before reality would raise its head and the actual place he actually holds in the monarchy was clear …unfortunately he obviously didn’t understand this and obviously neither did many people who followed the press did either 🤷‍♀️

Only when on official royal duties, and he doesn’t (for now) actually have any.

HaM ought to thank their lucky stars it's not judged on YouGov popularity ratings.

Justdancevance · 01/09/2026 15:11

I’m sure she’ll arrange to come and read ‘The Bench’ for the kids, leave some copies after getting a donation to her foundations and use some of the other kids for publicity.

She’ll be onto the school for marking ‘color’ wrong, and fake write letters to global leaders and signing off as her kids and getting Liam her PR guru to release it.

I will be surprised if she isn’t out of the country in a week honestly! , already we have had an article that she’s afraid to do the school run( obvious bollocks!) , in my opinion it’s just setting up a narrative about how she has to leave…whether with the children or not is the question.

Quite simply , he wants what the Wales family have .
