Dolly had the bar of Meg. I can only assume Glo had some sort of nervous breakdown in her latter years

She took the decision to start believing the unbelievable (all that binary spectrum ideology crap) to stay on trend within the Democratic Party. It must really mess with your head, especially when you’ve been up there on a platform with root feminists like Greer for decades. Meg though is careful what she says, often employing plausible deniability and strategic silence with opportunistic implication, and will see which way the zeitgeist is leaning. She has no beliefs as such.

diddl · 04/09/2026 11:05

and slathers it in sugary bullshit.

The jam isn't that bad is it?

Catching up this morning and it strikes me that this Gloria Steinem nonsense is the very essence of Meghan.

Instead of a tribute to an actual feminist she makes it all about her, shoehorns one of the kids into it, implies ajacency and slathers it in sugary bullshit.

Then you notice the clearly reframed photo, the smiling Meghan reflected in the frame and imagine the hasty and ill thought out process which led to all rhis rubbish.

It's a classic of the genre really.

And it is a tactic of her new marketing strategy which is to douse her DCs in glitter / adjacency at each and every opportunity so that she can monetise them to reflect on her.

Archie is totally irrelevant in this situation - MM has made him the main character in the death of hugely significant US campaigner.

She really is deeply socially inappropriate.

@AutumnCrowInEmeritoVeritas
I agree. M has no deeply held beliefs. She's just savvy and sly enough to know what is considered chic and she espouses that.

Why this isn't bleedin' obvious to everyone baffles me.

She believes in equality - but lives an elite life and will make sure her children do.
She is a true American and hates the RF but is royaller than the royals and clings to titles for dear life.
She is a devout feminist but has always climbed the ladder through the men in her life - first Daddy, then various partners and finally the big, stupid orange goldfish that she managed to net in 2018.
She wants women to find their voices but as shut up many of her female employees and slapped NDAs on them.

Ugh.

Wommmble · 04/09/2026 11:26

DancingFerret · 04/09/2026 10:27

Perspective: Harry and the wider RF were (are) nothing more than stepping stones to a deranged narcissist's fantasy and dogged pursuit of global adulation.

As was GS and anyone else’s neck she came across in life to step on and hoist herself up. Even her recent neighbours in Monteshitshow have said they only engaged with people who the HCould benefit from.

Agree with you. She's so vacuous. All about the $$$$ and power. Her and her husband are absolutely hideous. They remind me so much of the Yorks

Most people getting married don’t actually proclaim that they’re planning to stay together forever, it’s sort of implied…
It’s a glimpse into her how her mind works.

Yes, very odd. Like "he loves me so boldly" (?) and "he loves me so much"... not how much they love each other. Not that it needs to be shared at all, imo.

The bracelet was part of a campaign set up by Gloria to support feminist.com.
I don't think MM ever did anything for this initiative and I haven't seen her wearing the bracelets outside of that interview.

Yes, it was a bit. To be clear: I have nothing against goldfish. But I know they're not renowned for intelligence, bless them.

It reminded me of the unfortunate exchange you sometimes hear in dramas where things are not fine and dandy between the couple:

Ist person: "I love you!"
2nd person: " I know."

Not the answer you want when declaring your adoration!

Charging women $40 for a bit of beaded tat from a 5 year old's bracelet making set. No wonder "Glo" and the As Ever "entrepreneur" got on so well.

Apparently, to canter joyfully completely off topic, goldfish do have a really good memory and score highly in memory tests! (Presumably against other fish and not middle-aged mumsnetters)

NormalAuntFanny · 04/09/2026 11:52

Not saying anyone here is middle aged or anything
