A shiny new thread for September Sussex shenanigans!

Exactly this. We could achieve it at a large state school in North London, it can easily be achieved in a private prep school in the Cotswolds.
That's my point.

It wasn't "random" and I don't know what you mean by "standard" .
It was a state school in a North London borough which had a mix of those students as well as teenagers from a council estate, and migrants and asylum seekers.
My point is this; we could manage child privacy there, it can be managed in a small private prep school with a larger budget.

Oh my god! Actually using the titles as well?!
So... overtly merching the children!

But I still believe that the school's parents and staff will be the greatest leveller H&M have met so far. I don't think they truly appreciate (yet) how much people will close ranks to protect their own children from the possible intrusive actions of a couple of parents who are unaware how that particular system works.

I know Poppy and the SS wonder why we are fascinated by them! 🤷‍♀️

I think the point is though that safeguarding is safeguarding, whether at an expensive prep school
or a “random” comprehensive. Parents do not need to be reminded not to take photos and upload them because that is standard practice in UK schools. So the Sussexes are grandstanding again

That Page Six article about the request to parents about famous peers in school said further down that the school that has sent the letter is NOT the one the Sussexes have enrolled in.
So who knows what the hell is going on. It's exhausting.#

I can well imagine there are children in the Cotswalds who are more important politically than H&M's. But that isn't what I and others were specifically talking about, is it.

I was specifically talking about H&M being the most famous parents at this primary school/prep in the the Cotswalds. Not in the 2000s or whenever Madonna's daughter went to school. Not in London where a lot of celebreties children go to school.

There is no way that parents at that school won't know who Harry is. And yes as I will say again, he has a lot of press inches and notoriety partly because of his own actions or wishes. But he is still known.

I cannot believe that there is any family there with more international infamy or name recognition and as @jeffgoldblum @bluegreygreen and @PoppysAunt disagreed, I asked that they suggest another name more famous than Prince Harry with young children. I'm still waiting

Oh and to answer your rhetorical question @MidlyConcerned , I live in London but I grew up in the Cotswalds where my parents still have a house and one of my parents is SLT at a private school there.

Some people may not know who prince harry is @LemonDash, after all meghan famously didnt know 'much' about harry before they met.

What is your point, though? We have already established that parents don’t give a shit about how famous other parents are. If you have paid to put your children through a school, then your money is a s good as everyone elses. What do you think parents at the schools that the Wales children attend do? Clamour for selfies and autographs?

I find this obsession with them being famous really strange. Royalty isn’t the same as celebrity. Traditionally, royalty tends to want privacy, distance, discretion, the opposite of celebrity. They have carefully managed public appearances rather than constant (self generated) exposure. The whole point is to maintain a degree of mystique and separation from ordinary celebrity culture.
Painting HaM as celebrities is quite sad.

There will be children of other highly accomplished people who have enrolled their children in school. We’d hardly know because they don’t all go prancing around wanting attention and contacting The Daily Mail because their father was Sting or their great grandfather was Prime Minister or whatever.

Because I have dyslexia and was typing fast and it's a word that I embarrassingly make mistakes with phonetically when I don't pay extra attention. My spellchecker on here doesn't pick it up.

Famous though is an interesting word - famous is defined generally in dictionaries as being positively viewed. Meghan and Harry are well known and talked about but are more notorious. There is an unsavoury aspect to them - a suggestion of questionableness. This is based on their own conduct.

If I was worried about security for the school run, like HELL would I let my son do it without me!

Funnily enough my mum was really nervous of an abrasive neighbour when I was a kid, and would send me out to do the bins etc if she saw them about.

Whilst I never had an issue with them, even as a child I side-eyed her parenting - if she was scared, why did she expect me to face it alone?

Incredible. I didn't know that they'd sold candles, named after and relating to their children, using the full titles.
