This isn’t meant to be a provocative question; is he not allowed to be genuinely worried about his children? Especially given what he witnessed as a child?

I think saying that he is using his dc as a “human shield” is a bit extreme to be honest. He may feel that his dc are safer in British schools than American ones?

Of course he is allowed to be worried about his kids, but if he is that worried he would not be throwing his kids squarely into the very public discourse by using their school drop off / pickup as some kind of emotional extortion. He knows the majority of the British public are against him getting tax payer funded security, yet he is trying to further stoke up the controversy with all his contentious claims and pronouncements.

Going by everything he has said over the years and in his last statement, he is very clear his kids are not safe at all in the UK, yet he seems to be bent on using them to expose whatever he, rightly or wrongly, believes is a vulnerability in his security detail.

@Hostamenace689 "The DM and all of the journalists he implicated in his latest court case are hardly likely now to give H fair coverage, so he doesn’t have a lot to lose at this point."

I do have to say on this I do disagree with you. DM (ANL ) have just won a resounding victory against H( and to be fair not just him the other 6 claimants as well ) I very much doubt they (DM) are going to throw away the moral high ground with stories which don't abide by IPSO's code. I think for example on Palace Confidential Rebecca English said all the journalists she knows know the school H&M's children are going to but they will not reveal it. I think the MSM will do as they ever do. Some stories H&M won't like , I think they (the press ) will vary pro and anti stories to cover the bases for clicks but I don't think they will cross legal lines. If H&M would stop using "sources" , "friends of" to place stories and just keep quiet, the headlines / articles would dry up. Yes if H turns up to the Diana awards / WellChild etc it will be covered. But other than that they could cut off the leaked stories at source.

ETA I think saying H is using his children as a human shield is over the top language. Is he referring to them in a heart string tugging way ( eg his leak about Ravec - "the King's son and his grandchildren " ) yes I think he is using the children a bit.

Edited

I agree with this.

What the DM have to' lose' is that Harry is probably likely to go for them about any story he can, to reclaim the moral high ground and money.

We have already seen the correction re the story of the Sussexes telling the Horners they were coming to live in the UK, that happened on Friday.

Thank you @bluegreygreen . I did watch the docuseries and even I thought the , quite frankly , lazy description of the Commonwealth should have been cut out / modified by the fact checkers. It is a much more complex and nuanced thing than - Empire = slavery = RF are bad. But there are those happy to go along with it. Luckily the Commonwealth will stand or fall on its merits , not on what various commentators with their own agendas (either way ) ascribe to it.

I mean, if we’re going to talk about British slavery money, let’s have a look at the Spencers, shall we? Harry’s sainted inheritance from his apotheotic mother, part of which was her own ‘Spencer inheritance money’, was made originally on the back of the slave trade.

No aristocratic family is immune from these claims today, including the Spencers. Where are Harry’s plans for reparations?

@DandyAF I'm quite surprised the DM got the Geri lunch story so wrong. Inter alia , one thing that came out of the ANL case to me was just how very good the DM's legal sources were.

I’m not sure what you mean by this post?
I as most posters on here probably are already aware of …have had cancer….was ill and disappeared for awhile due to covid and very recently have not been on the board for the last two weeks because I had to go to hospital with diverticulitis!
is that important?

I wondered where you were! - I had hoped it was on holiday. Sorry you’ve got such a crappy disease to deal with, Jeff. Flowers Welcome back.

He will not be able to reclaim the moral high ground after a DM reporter outed him as being her direct source for a major story in 2025.

Perhaps it was another planted story by Harry and Meghan. If they’d leak such an important private meeting as the “peace summit” then cry foul when their own info got published, what would stop them from leaking a false story so they could rebut it?

I honestly hope that you are right about the DM and the moral high ground. But I am not entirely convinced that that organisation knows the meaning of the term!

Harry’s case and others may have been completely dismissed but morally, we all know I hope that the DM is a deeply misogynistic, sensationalist and divisive news outlet.

And I’m sorry but I have to disagree that the stories would have dried up if H&M had said nothing.

If H and M had come back to UK and their dc had attended a Cotswold school without any prior announcement and various press agreements in place; I think that news would have been all around the country by nine am on the first day of term.

KittyTinker · 31/08/2026 19:52

Hostamenace689 · 31/08/2026 17:41

I really don’t know how to respond to this post because you have made so many incorrect assumptions about me and twisted a reply that I made specifically to one poster called PigglyWigglyOhYeah .

Therefore I don’t understand why you saying “all” or or “we” unless you have set yourself up to speak on behalf of everyone here?

I stand by my opinion that some people in the uk were upset that Harry didn’t choose a white young aristocrat to be his bride and indeed some extremists were arrested and jailed for expressing that view in a threatening manner. One infamous radio presenter tweeted a cartoon with H&M’s future child represented as a chimpanzee fhs so it’s not an unreasonable thing to write.

I am sorry that you have personally faced such terrible racism.

And I afraid I don’t really care if you think I am a fan of H and M or not. I know it’s easy enough to come to that conclusion from what I have posted but I’m not actually. I don’t know them.

I am just someone who happens to believe that it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that there were faults on both sides , that MM may have faced some racism, unconscious or otherwise, while working for the RF, and that the two worlds of British hierarchical traditional monarchy v Californian celebrity culture were completely opposite and incompatible. That one isn’t necessarily innately superior to the other. And what ensued wasn’t all one person’s fault.

And above all, I think that all of the noise and diatribes against this couple have gone too far now. They have already been destroyed by the media in UK, USA and Australia? What more do people want?

I know these opinions are generally not welcome on this thread but I reserve my right to express them from time to time.

We have some things in common Hostamenice689, I’m no fan of any of the royal family and you said that Meghan’s actions were impulsive, unwise, naive and rash, when I proposed that discussing family issues on Oprah was taking things too far. However I think it’s also unfair to blame everyone but themselves for their failures. Harry thinks £5million per year security is a drop in the ocean when the government are letting dangerous criminals out on to the streets because apparently we don’t have enough prison spaces. £5 million would fund approximately 100 police officers for a year. He wants £26 million in government money to fund the Invictus games but has hardly raised any money himself then expects the games to go ahead when he’s arguing that he is a security risk himself which would endanger hundreds of people not just himself. They just don’t read the room. It would be really great if people didn’t have to criticise their actions but if they keep on doing stupid things and demanding more and more of our money and adulation I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Thats most kind of you autumn , I’m ok now but I doubt anyone would have noticed my absence anyway and especially not with all the excitement of recent ham activities!! , clearly I chose the wrong time to be ill! 😁

Yes that’s a weird one. The DM still does get things wrong (I’m talking generally) and it chances certain things.

But this was such a strange story to get wrong, because since it’s the Sussexes and the Horners, both of whom have been litigious, you’d think they’d double-check.

I wonder if it was an entirely different family that HAM visited, so there was a lunch, but just not with the Horners.

BemusedAmerican · 31/08/2026 19:54

Welcome back @jeffgoldblum . I hope you are feeling better. You have returned to more Sussex drama.....

bluegreygreen · 31/08/2026 19:55

The news that they were back and their children were in school would have been out, certainly. Any information about the children's whereabouts or their school would not (at least from mainstream organisations).

The main risk to the children, as far as photographs are concerned, will be passers-by and the internet.
We all know that there are photographs of the Wales family online that are never shown on UK media sites.

I am not sure what qualifies as “sticking to the subject of the thread” any more tbh, especially on the 32nd edition, but at the risk of breaking guidelines…

I couldn’t agree with you more about the Spencers and other aristocrats but do you not think that national public institutions have even more of a responsibility to make reparations than private families?

If rumours are true, it was the horners who insisted the story was removed and told the Sussex’s it needed to happen.

i think she issue is she has ‘annoying American superiority syndrome’ it’s like mansplaining but in an American accent with a side of waffle salad.

She tried to tell us we were backward, racist people for not recognising how she was going to bring the RF into the 21st century as she had played a lawyer on suits, written a letter to P&G when she was 11 and interned in Argentina for 6 weeks.

She has annoyed many Americans, too. Please don't think she represents my country. We don't think Harry represents the average UK citizen 😁.

Edited for typo.

No and some people will happily stick fingers in ears and pretend not to hear when Charlotte Griffiths is mentioned at all. They go poof!

SqueakyDinosaur · 31/08/2026 19:58

I want to know what happens if Invictus can't raise the additional funds it "needs" (to pay for M's demand for several floors of a 5* hotel as well as all the other freebies). They didn't clap back on THAT story, I noticed...

If he's worried about them, why has he brought them to the place he said last year he couldn't possibly bring them because it was unsafe, to live? I'm genuinely baffled as to why he'd do that if he really believes his children are at risk, when there's been no change as yet to their security.

bluegreygreen · 31/08/2026 12:02

@upinaballoon This news page gives some references that may answer some of your questions (sorry I can't archive it)

PH asking for privacy

It's worth pointing out that the first black and white photo shown from their Netflix trailer is a behind-the-scenes photo from Buckingham Palace.
That caused some upset, as it's from an area where the public are never permitted, so was not only a breach of the Queen's privacy (they were walking to meet her), but is also a security breach.

Thank you.
