OK you're being snide and passive aggressive now.

If you don't want people disagreeing with you, a public discussion forum might not be the best place.

Oh dear! Calm down!
The thread police 🚨 🤣🤣🤣

Any danger that H feels that he may be subjected to has been occasioned by him flapping his big fat gob, then thinking about what he has said, having second thoughts about it and dirtying his drawers.

The thing is, I will put money on any potential enemy being of the same opinion as most of us.

He is a joke who speaks shite.

I think, as per - you're spot on 👍🏼

I assume the aim is to attack the part of the monarchy currently seen as strongest, @AutumnCrowOnTheMold

Yes, excellent point.

I’m mildly republican and I’ve come round to thinking some positive thoughts about W&C and disliking the attacks on them from Republic the activist group.

I accept the UK and many Commonwealth Realms are not ready to eschew a constitutional monarchy, so it needs to be as strong and decent as it can be. If it isn’t, then it will collapse.

Meanwhile the MalcolmTuckering self-interested shenanigans from the ex-politicians as lucrative career extensions are bloody annoying. I’m talking about Hughes, Baker, Blunkett, Thornberry. Add to that parliamentarians like Lawrence. Yay, let’s pointlessly and painfully destabilise our system of government that the majority of the nation want to keep in order to cash in.

Andylion · 30/08/2026 14:21

AutumnCrowOnTheMold · 30/08/2026 06:59

It doesn’t help that that former senior police officer Neil Basu (fan of Doreen Lawrence and big fan of DEI-ing the Met in all the wrong ways) seems to still be blathering on publicly in support of H. Keep it discreet, boys. This is highly confidential RAVEC security under review and discussion, so don’t turn it into a political stunt from a royal clown in a circus.

Well, Harry, at least could never keep it discreet. He doesn’t want to just have what William has, he wants everyone to know it.

JenRummy · 30/08/2026 14:22

The apology demand if true is beyond a joke. This is the same couple demanding from one family capitulation and from hers ostracism. It’s cruel and cold not to let her Dad see his grandchildren. She and H don’t need to be there. That tells us all we need to know about their hypocrisy, narcissistic tendencies and absolutely deluded sense of grandeur. Wish they had stayed away.

IcedPurple · 30/08/2026 14:22

notimagain · 30/08/2026 14:18

Honestly, at this point H should be charged by the security services as breaching operations confidentiality by briefing the newspapers.

In all honesty I'm still of the opinion he could quite easily be making a lot of this crap up or embellishing something slightly factual for effect.

I certainly wouldn't be assuming he's put a human source at risk, but if he's any privileged info at all he really shouldn't be talking about it....

If the int people/police have any sense the best thing to do is for them is to go strict "need to know", if they haven't already.

I would have thought that is the usual policy?

Are 'principals' usually informed as to the exact nature of a threat against them?

Also, Harry doesn't currently enjoy official police protection so I wonder if he was told of this supposed 'threat' by his own private security people, who are literally in the business of telling him what he wants to hear?

Your last paragraph is completely correct.
Those reports were headline news - they were from his own security team, as you rightly said. 👍🏼

I suspect they have.

Somewhere among the multiple complaints he had about his security provision (or not...) was the fact that police security would have up-to-date intelligence briefings, which would not be relayed to his private security team.

I suspect with every story like this he just adds further evidence to a file that says 'Need to know only'.

If I recall correctly, one of the big complaints that Harry has had is that RAVEC and the governmental security services won’t share intelligence with him/his ‘team’ in the US or when they’re in the UK?

One can hardly blame them if true.

I'm open to correction on this but I believe RAVEC do liase with elite private security firms in Britain, though I'd imagine it takes the form of 'We're aware of increased threats to your client. Please plan accordingly'. I doubt they would share the exact nature of the threat. Also, given that Harry travels with his American 'team' which would be unknown to RAVEC, unlike the top British private security firms, I'm not sure if they'd be trusted with this sort of information.

If anyone knows anything more about such matters, please feel free to chime in!

I don't have much more knowledge than you, but they rarely give anything away to private security teams bar basic heads up.
It has to be confidential for very good reason.

FenellaFeldman · 30/08/2026 14:32

It's true, but that applies to everyone.

I’ve had stuff shared with me about a particular death threat, and it was very controlled (inside a police station) and specific. ‘This is an up to date photograph of what this man looks like. If you see him you must call 999 immediately.’

They were incredibly careful about not over-sharing or over-providing. They fitted a lot of security to my home, which I still have.

Harry seems to want the equivalent of access to the police database. And guns.

Hostamenace689 · 30/08/2026 14:40

Bit of a stretch to be suggesting Harry should go to jail quite honestly. Let’s see if that happens to AMW for alleged crimes for which he has actually been arrested rather than making them up for H!

Also those of you saying H doesn’t deserve the police protection he is requesting, then I suggest you listen to the first part of the latest podcast called The Crime Agents in which they discuss whether the threat to Harry is real or not. Unfortunately I have no idea how to link it here.

Funnily enough, Neil Basu, who served as assistant commissioner for Specialist Operations in the Metropolitan Police and the National Police Chiefs' Council lead for counter terrorism policing not only says that he thinks on balance that Harry should get the police protection he wants, he thinks it would be cheaper to do that than keep assessing it on a case by case basis.

Basu actually sat on RAVEC so I think he is more qualified to comment than any of us posters on these threads.

Also, interestingly, he added at the end that whereas RAVEC is said to have an independent Chair, in his experience the Chair listens to the Home Secretary, who listens to the PM, who listens to the Head of State. Very interesting listening.

I can’t believe she didn’t reach out to him when he had his leg amputated. She must be a very cold person.

What a waste of a new start, again.

New start in Canada fizzled out
Lots of interest and opportunities in the US came to nothing much so
So back to the UK for a country childhood

All they had to do was be positive and polite and happy to be back. Instead they are still trailing all his old grievances behind them like Marley's chains. No apparent awareness that, whereas in 2020 opinikns were pretty divided, in 2026 after interviews, books, court cases and statements galore, the majority know who Harry is (and who the Wales' are) and aren't supportive of his endless complaints and grievances.

Patience has run out, indifference is setting in. Let's hope he can eek out interest with Invictus, Well child and Scotty's Little Soldiers because good PR and public affection is a long hard climb away.

Sorry but I think your and PPs suggestion that Harry isn’t worried about the safety of his own children and that he could even be knowingly putting them in danger, or wouldn’t mind if there was an incident because it would prove his point, is really an unpleasant thing to post.

Do posts have to be 'pleasant'?

I could have used a different adjective that’s true.

When did he sit on RAVEC? Is he in possession of current information? I thought he retired several years ago.

Also those of you saying H doesn’t deserve the police protection he is requesting,

It's not about 'deserving' police protection. It's about whether or not RAVEC's current threat assessments deem it to be necessary and in line with Harry's relevance to national security. Despite what Harry thinks, simply being the son of the king does not entitle him to automatic security.

RAVEC have an excellent record in keeping people safe and if we're using such terms, they 'deserve' to be allowed to do their job without a petulant fool of a princeling whining and leaking confidential info to his pet media outlets.

Indifference is setting in?

Really?

Did you see the headlines last week?

And this is the 32nd thread of this series!

I agree with Rachel Johnson that whatever you think of H&M they are definitely winning the publicity war against the RF, even if the publicity is bad. Everyone is broadcasting about them!

And it’s the people spreading the negativity about them who are keeping them in the news the most!

notimagain · 30/08/2026 14:49

Basu actually sat on RAVEC so I think he is more qualified to comment than any of us posters on these threads.

But Basu doesn't sit on RAVEC any more, so while he may know how it worked , and his views on that may be interesting his info on current threats will be out of date.

bluegreygreen · 30/08/2026 14:50

@Hostamenace689 Two people on this thread have shared the security threats they faced, and how it affected their lives.

I have friends and family members whose work entails that they need to be extremely careful with regard to security.

You are correct that we cannot know what Harry is thinking. We can, however, see or listen to what he says and look at what he does.
He puts information into the public domain that does not need to be there (and that in some cases could endanger others, as has been discussed).

Other actions that people who have serious concerns about security would not typically do

  • publish their itinerary in advance when not required
  • make a lot of noise in the media before travel
  • roll down bulletproof windows in cars
  • order takeaway delivery to a friend's house
  • ring strangers' doorbells

Regarding Neil Basu - only he knows if he is breaking any regulations by talking so openly about RAVEC.
One could suggest that he doesn't have a great deal of understanding of the system, if he is talking about the ongoing cost of assessing 'on a case by case basis', given that Harry no longer qualifies for that 'bespoke' security package if he is not living abroad, but will now be dealt with as a non-working royal living in the UK.

It's easy to win a "war" when you're the only one fighting, isn't it?

After all, Don Quixote managed to win all those wars with those dastardly windmills!

Bluegreygreen already made an excellent post about this, but it's the suggestion of access to a police database which would worry me most, @AutumnCrowOnTheMold

Should it include the least suggestion of a threat against himself I'd say his blabbing would be a certainty, but given Harry's utter lack of discretion it's others I'm thinking of ...
