GBNews are reporting that Harry and Megan are moving back to the UK at the end of August.

I won't believe it until I hear it on the BBC.

Couldn’t care less. The RF means nothing to me. Frankly, they’re a national embarrassment. Harry is an ignorant little yob with a posh accent, and the rest of them are so ugly, vulgar and foul- mannered that I can’t bear to look at them.

My patriotism is rooted in Shakespeare and Dickens and Jane Austen. I take more pride in P G Wodehouse and Monty Python than I do in that lot.

Justdancevance · 20/08/2026 14:00

They haven’t admitted they were wrong which makes it funny. I’m sure more of the ‘I never said that’ comments to follow.

once they don’t try to nick ‘recollections may vary’

just saw that the king was told on Sunday but the kids are apparently already enrolled in British schools....so he didn't know then?

Its all a game to the sussexes. Wonder if they are staying in or around althrop?

Edited

Time to cash in on the children..pics of the backs of heads will be traded up to facial ones in manufactured situations.

Harry said it was unsafe for them as recently as May 2025.
Meghan said in a magazine interview that her children couldn't go to school in the UK because they would be harrassed and papped.
I wonder what has changed both their minds, and so quickly?

Money...or the lack thereof...the Nicklin judgement is due imminently and I suspect Harry will be on the hook for millions in uninsured legal costs, particularly if Nicklin rules that ANL can claim costs on an indemnity basis i.e uncapped.

ANL total costs amount to £34.5 million and they have asked the court for an interim payment of £9.9 million. As I understand it the after the event insurance is capped at £16.2 million leaving a potential deficit payable of £18.3 million.

They will probably be seeking to quietly offload the rather expensive house in Montecito as they will not be able to afford to keep it with all the associated costs i.e mortgage / property taxes / upkeep / bills / staff / security etc.

This is a very sudden announcement and one that I understand the King was not informed about until a couple of days ago...I think this must have been planned for a while because otherwise it looks like a bit of a moonlight flit. I cant imagine the chaos of a transatlantic house move and having to settle their children into new schools all within a matter of days...

To enrol the children into private school must have been planned quite some time in advance

I understand that Harrys visa may also have been a key factor..some media outlets are reporting that his visa renewal has been refused. I have no idea about whether this is accurate or not.

Lots more going on here than any of us are aware of but it does look very strange..only 5 minutes ago Harry was refusing to set foot in the UK without armed taxpayer funded security and suddenly they are both running back here and bringing the kids...heaven knows what the heck is actually going on.

DelectableMe · 20/08/2026 14:12

Thanks, @MauveLibrary- interesting!

Some seven and five year olds in a Cotswolds prep school are about to get Archie and Lilibet in their class.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 20/08/2026 14:18

The king having cancer isn't news. The choice of schools in Montecito vs the UK isn't news. Neither of these are credible reasons for moving to a different country just a couple of weeks before your kids start new schools. They'll barely be over their jetlag, poor kids.

The only news is the loss of the court case - and all the costs concerned. And potentially the visa issue, though this isn't confirmed.

I feel quite sorry for Archie and Lilibet. It must be very strange and very unsettling to have to suddenly be taken to another country away from their home and friends and placed in a school environment which will be very different from the US. These are small children and this must be frightening and unsettling.

And I think we can all guess what their teachers will be getting as a end of year gift next summer.

Possibly. You can’t say ok to the tindalls and the York daughters but no to Harry and Meghan.

Why can’t you?
If they are not invited why would they be there?

Paunchyy · 20/08/2026 14:25

HolidayHideaway · 20/08/2026 13:08

I agree but I wonder if there’s an additional bombshell to come?

If M I’d see this as an opportunity for a glamorous ‘three way’ kind of life. Cash in on business ops in UK that being royal adjacent brings. Get boarding established at best schools. Pop off to Portugal when UK based for odd month & then back to Montecito with cash for perma sunshine & R & R.

The key phrase was “that MM would be spending her time in their international residences in order to manage her businesses”

This is a soft launch separation.

Maybe PH hasn’t clocked it yet.

She will swerve the upcoming character assignation which is the Sentebale trial - stepping out of that shit storm.

She will not set foot in UK in public - but will burnish her DCs in a royal glow and Britishness to merch off herself. No one is buying their royalty in US so shes packing the 3 of them off the the UK.

She will live in Cali and pop to Portugal for half terms to save the DCs long haul jet lag.

Watch PH push for his DCs to be at PC Christmas Carol Concert and the Sandringham Christmas walk. MM won’t be there she will be ‘absent’ like Doria was in her life.

Dontevenlookatme · 20/08/2026 14:26

I don’t believe for a second that the first the King knew about this was on Sunday. There is not a chance that the King’s grandchildren would be enrolled in a UK school and government security services not know about it.

BemusedAmerican · 20/08/2026 14:26

The kids will also have to deal with seasons. I lived in LA for 2 years. I am from the East Coast and it was weird never having to check the weather in the morning. The UK will be very different for them.

IcedPurple · 20/08/2026 14:28

HolidayHideaway · 20/08/2026 11:53

Objectively they are rich, they have 2 properties with the one in Portugal being worth millions too. However, they need/want a limitless supply.

I'm sceptical about the claim that they own a home in Portugal.

And sure, by normal standards they're rich. But they don't aspire to 'normal standards' and given that most of their commercial ventures have flopped, it's hard to see where any future income will come from.

No, security can be arranged between now and the start of term.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 20/08/2026 14:35

How long before Harry gets his honorary military titles back ?
just in time for Invictus

God knows what he was thinking about on his freedom flight - he could never give it all up and it’s just dawned on him

Maybe he can reverse Megxit but his grandparents are gone now and he can never undo the hurt he inflicted on them

Noone is saying they didn't happen elsewhere

But they happened in Ireland too... And that's with elected officials. You kept on saying "wah wah wah unelected blah blah blah" as some sort of gotcha or indicator of an elected official being better.

We just pointed out that elected officials and the Church in Ireland over saw the atrocities of forced separation, forced labour and murder if babies. Which you seem to deny they had any responsibility in that a d trying to blame it entirely on the English?

No, you just pointed out

Interesting & quite, absolutely…

True, although IME making switch much tougher for older kids.

I can't believe it either. And if it is true that it's all happening so suddenly, it's very cruel to A and L - last minute move from their home and school friends, to a country thousands of miles away that they barely know and schools with children they've never met, a completely different curriculum and rules (like wearing a uniform!).

Incredibly unsettling for anyone, let alone small children.

DelectableMe · 20/08/2026 14:30

It can, but more generally the family’s movements whilst in the country would surely be known to the security services. I would also expect the Head/governors of any school admitting a royal child to flag this to the appropriate agency/authority.

Gettingbysomehow · 20/08/2026 14:41

Im old enough to remember the ghastly Diana. Our children are the same age.
What an appalling attention whore she was.
Having hysterics everywhere, throwing herself down the stairs, a series of excruciating tv interviews peeping out of her fringe the whole time. The endless affairs with random men. Making every public photo taken during her marriage a poor little me event. The operating room photos with her watching the surgery in full hair and makeup.
How the royal family survived that I have no idea.
Now the younger generation are at ir.
All of them except Edward are divorced, Andrew....I neednt say any more about him.
Margaret and her shenanigans.
I think the entire royal family has rotted from the inside out. There is virtually nothing left.

Paddingtonsmarmaladesandwich2 · 20/08/2026 14:44

The irony of them constantly moving homes while she simultaneously tries to present herself as a vegetable and fruit growing settled home maker 😂😂

I think this may well be ‘nail on head’…Although sad for kids, if so…

M will be just fine & will poss end up in a Jackie O scenario. Security & someone to provide £. I think she’d enjoy a life like this, the glamour, elegance & status without the accountability & scrutiny…

It’s funny how history repeats. H the casualty if this unfolds, there’s a danger he ends up like her father.

Is this post not testament to how the RF permit their women to be treated by the media wheb there are other stories that need to be buried?

All that you have mentioned were very much under the microscope wheb these incidents occurred. All suffered poor mental health, at the point MM was allegedly suicidal, her mother-in-law was inviting the Daily Fail & Sun journalists for lunch at the palace. This happened despite the horrendous treatment she had received at the hands of the sane press many years before.
Do you see the pattern here?
