I think a collaboration with H and Uncle Spencer sounds likely. Earl Spencer is, I believe, low to no contact with his daughters. Bearing that in mind, I don’t think family unity and loyalty are things Spencer and Harry put much store in.

Spencer can write what he wants can’t he -“Diana told me xxxxxx” and nobody can disprove it.
Charles has been married to Camilla longer than he was to Diana. Having someone write about your marriage -especially someone with a track record like Spencer - is beyond the pale.
Spencer shpuld have confined his book to childhood and the days after her death. It’s disgusting that he is choosing to write about her marriage when she’s dead and unable to consent. A book l certainty won’t be buying.

I expect the DM will serialise the book.

Maybe the shoe's on the other foot - perhaps he turned on his ear-piece, got out his iPhone and recorded and snapped HAM in his Rose Garden having a major ding-dong!

Really daft question - is anyone who has previously used the phrase 'Kennedy Ripple of Hope award' finding that neither 'Kennedy' nor 'Ripple' is coming up in advanced search when you search for your own posts?

I was looking for my posts earlier to check a date, and apparently had no posts until I tried a different word.

It may just be a glitch, but when I search for either of those words without a username plenty of posts come up, and I'm fairly sure I've only used them in combination.

Username is case sensitive. You've typed a Capital "B". I searched on lowercase "b", and got many results.

Charles Spencer is an established historian and author. I can’t imagine H could possibly have anything to add to Charles’ memoir/book. He barely remembers his mother does he?

I actually think this could be quite an interesting book from an historical perspective. Charles Spencer is one of the few people who knew Diana throughout her life - together with her sisters of course. If it focuses on their childhood and then his involvement in persuading her to do the Panarama interview, and the time after her death, it could be very informative.

I would have thought he's run it by William.

Maybe Charles extended the hospitality to Harry and Meghan at the request of the 'proper' Royal Family - they knew they'd be looked after, and not cause too much trouble elsewhere?

It’s interesting that this book is called “Swan Song”. Is Charles Spencer implying that this is the last time the subject will be discussed? We can only hope.

I find it highly amusing that the picture which presumably Charles Spencer chose shows that William is the absolute image of his mother.

The Diana books, documentaries etc have been done up death. Excuse the pun. What an earth is left unsaid ??? H was a young child when she died and by all accounts, she certainly wasn't a hands on mother despite his efforts to canonise her. You can bet William has a much more nuanced book in him regarding his mother

I find myself coming back often to Tina Brown's take on things in the Palace Papers. Whether she's right or not, she makes a lot of it make sense for me. She says that William is far more temperamentally aligned with the Windsors - cautious, undemonstrative, can be seen as cold and formal - and Harry with the Spencers - volatile, reactive, prone to speak before thinking. It certainly fits the pattern of behaviour that we've seen from them both, though of course W's position of direct LoS would push him in that direction, both in terms of training and time spent with e.g. QEII.

Yes, this is interesting. It’s not up to Spencer. This could unleash the dogs of war on Diana and her reputation. He can’t have NDA’d everyone in his life who ever heard him talk about her. He can’t have control over those hurt by her shenanigans like the ex wives of lovers.

You can’t libel the dead. Anyone can say anything they like about a dead person.

Spencer has now broken the unspoken barrier of respect.

They might have come to some agreement while they were sunning themselves around the pool together recently, I find in quite interesting how now all of a sudden Harry is publicly aligning himself with his Uncle, their relationship has never been at the forefront so publicly before yet now we have had pictures of Meghan on a sun lounger with CS conveniently in shot, pictures of the hamlets marching to Diana’s graveside and now CS releasing his book on Diana, it’s no coincidence, I think the HAMS and CS are definitely out to claim the 30th anniversary for themselves, I think this comment in the DM sums the three of them up.

The only interest anyone apart from William has in Diana is how much money they can make from her.

And Spencer magically marries the (once) respected archaeological and historical author Cat Jarman.

I think she’s right and all I can say is -thank goodness!
William has grown into a wonderful man. He seems to be a great husband and father, he’s not a walkover and wants to forge his own path.
He isn’t overly emotional -but it’s all there. Look how he welled/choked up when he spoke to the lady whose husband had taken his own life.
Hes intelligent but not overly in a condescending manner.
He has had a lot of shit to deal with in the last 6 years -and yes, we all know he has no housing worries/money worries but I wouldn’t swap my bank balance for his if it meant my kids were targets for every terrorist and nutter out there and for my marriage to be discussed and lied about by millions on social media.
He has grown into a wonderful man - due to himself and the people around him. I suspect Camilla has been a good influence on him as well as his father and we all know how fabulous the Middletons have been for him.
I think his mother would be bursting with pride over him - her son, the next king.

I think it is to do with his love of swans.

I remember soon after Diana’s death he recounted how he awoke one morning having dreamed of black swans on the lake surrounding the island where Diana is buried there were black swans swimming on it. He immediately rang his estate manager to tell him to get some black swans and his manager replied we already have some coming - someone or other had been in touch offering to gift them some.

More recently he has posted on instagram about the arrival of some new black swans - I think the Oval lake may be a different lake to the one where Diana is, anyway it has some new swans. 🦢

Ummm, Cat Jarman is a historian of the Dark/Early Middle Ages. What are you implying?
