Are the bets on or off for an invite to Balmoral?
Will Meghan bake a humble pie for Catherine?
Let’s discuss……!

Lord Allen needs to rein in his loose-lipped founding patron

He does indeed, @AutumnCrowsMusings, but for whatever reason nobody on the board seems willing to do this, and it's hard not to wonder what they too are getting out of it

As I've said so often it's fortunate that Invictus is by no means the only organisation supporting veterans, so when the insensate spending - on what isn't clear - gets too much at least they have others to choose from

bluegreygreen · 17/08/2026 10:50

Starryfifty · 17/08/2026 10:15

If KC gives into H and attends Ingruftus, what next ? He'll hold Ingriftus 2029 in UK and accept same. And on and on etc. Tantrum after tantrum until he gets his way

Invictus 2029 is in S Korea.

Ah yes of course 😀

I love that M was made to wait outside while H saw his father first. Compare H agreeing to his wife being made to wait outside, which is a bit humiliating, to the huge tantrum he had over M coming to Balmoral when HMLQ was dying.

I love that M was made to wait outside while H saw his father first.

I did some hunting around this, because no-one could tell me where it came from when it first began to be posted here. Clearly the palace wouldn't have said so, and I couldn't see it being the kind of thing H&M would leak (if it was true, M would find it too humiliating).

It was first suggested (as sheer speculation) on The Rest is PR podcast on 13th July. It has gone round the internet as a rumour since then.

AutumnCrowsMusings · 17/08/2026 11:05

It'll be interesting to see how the South Korean public funding model stands up to public scrutiny when the budget for what Invictus calls 'dignitary logistics' (as opposed to 'event delivery') starts to climb sky high.

jeffgoldblum · 17/08/2026 11:05

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/08/2026 10:04

They would indeed have been rejected, jeff, and they'd be less than human if they didn't resent the change

However if it's a matter of the funding I could quite see the idiot pretending there'll be a royal turnout, and who knows what'll then happen if they don't show

So true! , he really is delusional! , if rumours are to be believed he was actually expecting William and his children to show up to see him at the meeting too! , apparently couldn’t understand why he wasn’t there! 😬

Given H and M ‘s tendency to clap back I would have expected them to deny that part .

Well if Sophie Chandauka of Sentebale is right, ‘the number-one risk for this organisation was the toxicity of its lead patron's brand.’ She said it was hard for the organisation to recruit, fundraise and progress while carrying the weight of the founding patron’s activities and mixed messages from the US. (She was being polite.) She further pointed out that the charity could not be used as an extension of the Sussex PR machine.

And if that is true for Sentebale then it will be true for Invictus.

When the dimwit and co flounced from the sentabale board, didn't a close friend of William join the board and was with her on the interview where she accused him of Misogynoir. So you can bet William knows exactly what has gone on and probably seen the emails.
I know W can't control his twat of a brother but it isn't going to reflect well on the family if this goes to court. I blame KC for having indulged h all his life rather than parent.

Starryfifty · 17/08/2026 11:34

KC will pay Dr Sophie off unfortunately. I imagine what she has in H is very damning

SqueakyDinosaur · 17/08/2026 11:39

"Dignitary logistics". FFS.

I am not sure .
I am not equating H’s behaviour with AMW but can we remember the public backlash when VG was paid off ?
If Sophie has strong evidence of misogyny etc then KC might well take the view that he needs to accept the consequences.

Not necessarily, I think the AMW debacle might have put paid to the idea that the monarch can pay someone to go away. This isn't such a well known case of course but I'm sure the papers would make it so if Charles was stupid enough to intervene in a UK court case.

bluegreygreen · 17/08/2026 11:49

It's also not Sophie Chandauka bringing a personal case, but Sentebale the charity bringing the case, which makes it even less likely that others would intervene (though, like you, @MrsLeonFarrell, I don't think KC3 would).

Now, the fact that it is the charity bringing the case may also mean that they are more likely to settle, but that's not a given - especially if they feel this is the only way to recover from the adverse media campaign they describe.

If it wasn’t true we would have certainly heard about it in People magazine, plus it would be perfectly normal for the King to want a few minutes with his son before the rest of the family, I’m sure he wouldn’t want Meghan barging in front of Harry as is her normal MO so they put her in her place before she could take control, plus although a family meeting precedence would be adhered to.

Also, the AMW situation was while he was in the centre of the RF. Sentebale and SC has happened since H flounced and has been very publiclyat odds with the RF, so a lot easier for KC to distance himself from H's misbehaviour

BigWillyLittleTodger · 17/08/2026 11:58

There is a lot of “paying off” KC is expected to do, ANL court costs, the family’s security bill now Sentebale, KC would be an absolute fool to settle these after the VG situation, he could fudge the royal accounts or pay from his private funds if he was really determined to I suppose, but it’s to the tune of millions, it’s not small change, plus surely he would think it gives Harry free reign to sue whoever he likes in the future because Daddy Warbucks will pick up the tab.

I agree. Between AMW, Harry, and Markle the institution of monarchy has been undermined in no small measure. Paying off VG was a huge mistake; paying off SC could be a terminal move - and from what I've read about her, I believe she would be too principled to accept such a bribe.

Dignity is the only way forward for the RF.

That said, sometimes I think the quiet dignity they've employed to deal with HAM has been a little too quiet. We need a few more rejoinders along the lines of "recollections may vary" to throw the Montecito duo off balance.

I read or heard somewhere (can’t remember where annoyingly) that SK are funding absolutely everything, not sure how true this is.

Oh, I'm not sure. For a narc, any response, whether positive or negative, is fuel, and proof that their strategy is working. I think that the long-term grey-rocking is probably their wisest approach, and no doubt is absolutely infuriating to HaM.

It was reported ( People?) that Meghan felt humiliated and sidelined during the U.K. visit so I suspect there is some truth in the story about H seeing his father on his own for a short while .

Thedom · 17/08/2026 12:29

I guess the independent report on Harry & Meghan’s toxic brand image would have to be disclosed, that will be an interesting read.

I hope it is not settled before it gets into the courtroom.

I agree it makes sense.

I was just interested in where it came from, as the rumour suddenly appeared and clearly hadn't been released from anywhere official.

ETA Even in a normal family it would be quite likely for the son of the family to wander off with his father for a few minutes to check in on a visit home.

Lifestooshort71 · 17/08/2026 12:54

I have no idea how much has been/will be spent on these games but, now all this disturbing stuff is worming its way in, hasn't the time come to knock the event into touch and for any money to go to the participants? I've no idea how it would be divvied up but there must be some medical guidelines somewhere. It could be announced at this year's Boy Scouts' Jamboree...

Humiliated and sidelined are intolerable feelings for a narc.

SqueakyDinosaur · 17/08/2026 12:57

Surely nobody can outdo Meghan herself in the business of humiliating and sidelining herself? I mean she's gone from the joyous scenes of Windsor on their wedding day, to giving a speech on a traffic island outside the WHO watched by about 3 people.
