Are the bets on or off for an invite to Balmoral?
Will Meghan bake a humble pie for Catherine?
Let’s discuss……!

Zara is popular, she’s a welcome addition to any royal gathering. H and MM are like a bad smell. Everyone feels more comfortable when they’ve gone.

“The thing is, Harry could always have had the sort of relationship he will likely end up having - a Zara type relationship.”

The thing is @TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis that’s not what H and M want . They want to be at the centre of things especially Meghan hence the problems 6/7 years ago .

That was kind of my point. They've likely ended up at the same destination (and still haven't reached that) through a lot hubris and heartache because they thought they were entitled to so much more.

SqueakyDinosaur · 16/08/2026 19:53

Except that I suspect the Tindalls are bringing in a lot more in sponsorships etc than the Sussexes...

bluegreygreen · 16/08/2026 20:02

They are very shortsighted.

Meghan is the only one with any kind of strategy, but she works on a celebrity timescale, which is why they keep trying to ingratiate themselves with the current monarch and antagonise the heir.

When you're up against an institution that works on a timescale of centuries, that type of strategy is useless.

Charles spent a working lifetime preparing for his current role. He has a genuine interest in history in addition to the trappings that come with the job. He's not about to mess it up just because someone who is currently fifth in line to the throne is stamping his feet.

Could SC / Sentebale be painted into a corner to accept an offer from PH that was more than could be won if they went to court? I would imagine the legal and financial counsel for the charity would be to accept a significant contribution to the charity - and PH would pay up to avoid exposure. But I expect she would be disappointed on moral / ethical grounds.

She would also want a full apology that referenced each of the defamatory charges made against her and made it clear that they were false.

In addition to her costs being paid and a massive donation to Sentable.

If someone else is funding her, they might not care about the cost, and be more interested in getting it all out into public view. Especially if they have all the receipts.

The thing is, Harry could always have had the sort of relationship he will likely end up having - a Zara type relationship.
Pa can pay the big bills discreetly (school fees and some private security), they can make some coy royal-adjacent content off the side, and they can make occasional appearances at family-type events

I would have an issue with this, I wouldn’t support this at all whilst they are a Duke and Duchess and their children are Prince and Princess, the making royal content on the side (in other words using their royal titles for personal monetary gain) for all titled royals needs to stop, SF did it and it shouldn’t have been allowed, I don’t want any titled royals “building a brand” off of being gifted a royal title, that’s not what royalty is about.

Prince Harry wants to come home more. Here’s how that one plays out…

I can’t help but picture Harry, in his many upcoming trips, floating around Mayfair alone in the small hours, and pointing to an empty restaurant and saying aloud to no one in particular, “This is where I punched that photographer in 2004!” Or standing outside a misty mansion in Wiltshire, announcing, “And in there’s where I wore the Nazi costume at that party!” Or gesturing towards the kitchen of Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace and saying, “And that’s where Willy broke my necklace and hurled me down onto the dog bowl after calling Meghan ‘difficult’ ‘rude’ and ‘abrasive.’”

Brilliant! 😂 great article.

It is hilarious isn’t it? Very funny and with (I suspect) more than a grain of truth.

Jamie Kern Lima has distanced herself from MM according to Paula Froelich

Basically a low key grifter?

Well he has to come home more to drum up support and funding for Invictus 27 before he gets dumped.

Well, all that association brought Jamie Kern Lima was ridicule, so probably best.

I do think this will be last Ingriftus event. He's screwed if he doesn't get KC to attend

It's really a no-win for Charles ....
-give Harry the publicity?
-or risk not supporting disabled veterans?

Perhaps they could send Edward and Sophie (links with their Paralympic patronage) or Anne, Zara and Mike for their Olympic/sporting backgrounds and ability to keep Harry and Meghan under control?

My guess is that the William and Catherine will be out of the country.

Whilst I am sure KC loves all his DGC is he really prepared to damage his relationship with the Wales , the Edinburghs and Anne by bringing H and M back into the fold ?
He is the Monarch not just a father/ grandfather and he will know how betrayed many people in the U.K. feel .
I have a friend who is not allowed to see 2 of her grandchildren which distresses her ( due to a money issue) but she has 3 other DGC who she enjoys a close loving relationship with so has had to accept the situation.
I suspect KC feels the same .

KC3 most importantly is a husband to a woman who tolerated decades of disrespect from the public and media for him - and then had all the dust kicked up in her face again by PH …. I think this will be central to things going forward. There are a lot of people PH has deeply hurt and there is a lot at risk to the reputation of the monarchy. C&C are holding their noses and managing H&M very tightly for their own ends. PH is being grandiose and delusional, As Ever, if he thinks this version of reconciliation is going to progress any further.

Thanks for the Times article

It reminds me, of course it does, of Ewan McGregor as reformed drug addict Renton in T2 Trainspotting, returning home to Edinburgh, to all his favourite spots, but finding his world utterly changed, eerie and ghost-like

😂

But back to Ingriftus, I still can't see it happening.

If he can't get KC onboard, I think he will have to cancel

I think there's a fairly easy solution for KC3:

Invite the UK Invictus team to a pre-Games reception (Buckingham Palace or Windsor), and send good wishes to them publicly.

Send the Edinburghs (who almost certainly already know some of the competitors, given their patronages - Edward as Vice Patron of British Paralympics, Sophie with her recent patronage of Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team) to Birmingham as his representatives for the Invictus Games.

Lots of visible support for the veterans, respected RF members at the Games.

Cismyfatarse · 16/08/2026 21:41

Charles should offer to send Camilla in his place.

HAM didn't slag off Ed and Sophie did they ? I'd say they'd rather not go

AutumnCrowsMusings · 16/08/2026 21:56

I doubt the ‘white pill in mouth’ story went down well with either Camilla or Sophie, given their work (that I think is genuine) to support abused women and girls.
