I’m in a very similar position to your friend. I love the love bangle, but can’t bring myself to buy one now because of MM.

Unless the black tie anniversary gala is to raise funds for the charity I think it is a very strange thing to do. I say this as someone who also lost their mother in tragic circumstances.... Remember her but let her rest in peace.

I was of the Diana era, we were of similar age, married and had babies at the same time. I followed her with interest. When she died, I was genuinely upset.

But all these years later, she’s a distant memory. Those of us who remember her at all are a dwindling number. Those who will put their hands in their pockets to support a legacy project even fewer.

I’m sure the Diana Awards charity does great work, but by now it stands in its own, not as her memorial.

My friend reconciled herself to it because she had wanted one before she had ever heard of MM. So she eventually thought MM isn't going to stop her having one. But my - she dithered because she didn't want to wear something people might associate with MM. She may be alone , but just a thought as to why MM might not be the best "face" / "ambassador" for very famous high level brands. I thought she was maybe the only one , but with you there is 2. Ha ha. Now I suspect Cartier don't care , but I doubt MM gets a commission on that bangle and they certainly don't seem to have asked her to be a public face - even with the watch as well 😂

Why yes! , yes it is! , fedexed her wedding rings back , but kept the Cartier love bracelet he gave her on their wedding day!!! , I’m sure Harry is delighted 😁

I’ve coveted it for years too, long before I had ever heard of MM, but now I can’t see one without thinking of her and how she displays hers in all pics etc. I think I’m destined not to have one, as I just couldn’t disconnect it from MM in my head

@sammylady37 I can't speak for you but don't let MM stop you having something you would love. I don't think anyone would think you had bought it because of her - it's something of a modern classic. But it was rather my point - as with my friend there are people who will positively not buy something MM has. I'm not sure she would be a great ambassador for an expensive brand.

Sprouts are a very popular side in the US. Very common to see them on menus. Usually served crispy with bacon and some kind of glaze. Its a year round thing

@PullTheBricksDown - with all their money maybe H bought her a replacement from him if that's what she liked. Or they just decided it was a nice bracelet and little sentimental value. That's up to them - I had thought I read that H bought it for her. But of all the criticisms of M I have, rewearing an expensive bangle if H is happy with it being a present from a former husband (if it was ) that is the very least I would criticise. Unfortunately, or indeed fortunately , I don't have former husbands who have given me expensive jewellery so I am singularly unqualified to comment 😂

@BasiliskStare Unfortunately or fortunately, I don't have experience in this particular moral dilemma either 😆 My view is very different and it would feel off to me to wear a present from an ex husband while out and about with the current one. But it's ok, we're thread friends, we can agree to disagree 🤝

I recently gave a dear friend a pair of diamond earrings that were a gift from an old boyfriend.
She mentioned that she’d always wanted a pair and it made me so happy! I do feel sentimental about jewelry and never wanted to wear these after I met my now husband.

As we all know that call was pre-arranged but I suspect that’s what got her the gig.

The audience and contestants wouldn’t have a clue who she was, but as wife of the King’s son? Yeah that’s “famous”.

Can you imagine if she’s done similar at the Invictus event? Nobody would have given a shit!

I suspect that knowing she is only who she is (with her big house and millions) is all down to being married to the King’s son.
