I think I’ve found the pigeons, they’ve shifted their focus to Dan Wootton.

Review of the show in The Times
Meghan does MasterChef — one big gush-fest with celeriac-based faffing

I know some Australians and I know it's wrong to generalise but always have them down as very no nonsense individuals. Don't fall for faff and BS. What on earth is the gushing over her on M Chef ?

BasiliskStare · 26/07/2026 16:05

@HoldMyWine Thank you - that's very funny. Surprise FaceTime my arse 😂

You see , I think this is what M likes. OK she wants the vast wealth , but I think equally , she revels in the "top spot" adulation. I think she was in her element there. & she sure didn't get it before she married H.

So staged, hello my love. The same love she dodged after ANL case verdict. I really don't think Meg knows what love is. Take the shit with the good

Usually insisted on by the director, Starryfifty Hmm

There are those who'll do ANYTHING to get their faces on TV - even just in an audience - and if leaping and shrieking is what's required, then leap and shriek they will

PullTheBricksDown · 26/07/2026 16:40

Topic adjacent: I find celeriac the most dull and uninspiring and not-worth-the-effort food item. Eye rolling at people getting excited about it, or spoiling perfectly good ice cream by including it

Dontevenlookatme · 26/07/2026 16:48

This might explain why they went home thinking the Australia trip had been a roaring success. But if it hasn’t translated into other bookings and projects, well, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

This is their perennial problem. They have no problem getting attention and headlines, but their commercial projects keep flopping. Other than as a pseudo royal curiosity, they really don't have much else to offer. They've had nearly 7 years to build a 'brand' and consistently failed.

ShamedBySiri · 26/07/2026 17:30

As an aside, it looks like there's a gallery with studio audience watching the show live. It must really affect the vibe and how the show works, and must really add to the pressure for the contestants.
I enjoy our (British) Masterchef but I definitely wouldn't like this hyped up version, no wonder the viewing figures are down. Here's a tip for the producers - go back to a simple cooking competition.

NormalAuntFanny · 26/07/2026 17:32

I got DH to find the episode on a sharing site but although it is listed, no-one is sharing it so it won't download.

Says it all.

bluegreygreen · 26/07/2026 17:35

If I remember correctly @ShamedBySiri in Finals week the previously eliminated contestants return to watch from the gallery.

Meanwhile, on a different note - a possible anniversary event by The Diana Award next year ...

The phone call has been linked on X - SOoooo cringy.
"My husband's here....He's in Canberra with the veterans...."
I can't watch it again to transcribe more of the chit chat, it's too painful.
Anyway here's the link for anyone wanting to see it.

How cringe "Hello my love!" But I guess the audience couldn't be allowed to forget, even for a moment, that she married a prince. Which of course is the only reason she's on the show at all.

I wonder whose idea it was to have the oh so spontaneous call? With live footage of Harry's mug? Enough to put you off whatever was being cooked!

I really can’t see William and Harry both being involved in this. Of course the charity has to invite them both but it must be a diplomatic nightmare for them.

ShamedBySiri · 26/07/2026 17:58

Another clip. Her children like Brussels sprouts apparently. I love them actually but aren't they a winter vegetable? I wouldn't expect them to be on a California menu.

What about Christmas?

A source said: 'Harry wants Meghan to be part of it, to be closer to his mother's legacy.'

Oh, I'll bet...

Dontevenlookatme · 26/07/2026 18:11

I must say the idea of marking the anniversary of her death at all seems a very odd thing to do, let alone doing so with a glittering black tie gala. Apparently the charity did something to mark the twentieth anniversary which both brothers attended, but there’s been a LOT of water under the bridge since then.

😬 there's going to have to be some behind the scenes discussions for sure. Certainly if Meghan is expected to come, can't Imagine William appearing. One in person, one on video?

BasiliskStare · 26/07/2026 18:19

OK I know Diana was beloved by many - not least by both her sons. But is there any necessity for a 30th anniversary shin dig. Wouldn't you do as with Wedding anniversaries 10 , 25 , 40 ? 30 seems a bit neither here nor there to me ( I speak as one in their early 30s of wedding anniversaries ) But to be fair it's not my mother & my mother isn't famous.

Fromhere1 · 26/07/2026 18:26

I've seen a few little clips of the MasterChef programme....it's cringingly awful. The gushing cheering is terrible to watch. Christ she's just a person like the rest of us!

She has nothing interesting or clever to say (from what I have seen so far). The 'surprise' facetime call is blushingly horrible in it's cringiness. A clear set up... Can you imagine anyone else getting a facetime call from their spouse at work?! Absolutely ridiculous....their need for attention and self promotion is massive. And yes, as someone upthread pointed out, it's a bit much that this self proclaimed feminist can't even get through this without her husband having to prop her up.

There is a very funny mimic on Instagram who does spoof videos of Meghan....I'll look forward to seeing what he does with all this material.
