No, he went at the start of the academic year. William was already there.

My error - you're right, it was September 1998.

Thedom · 17/07/2026 10:35

I think he looks terrible, blotchy red face, possibly sunburnt, red nose, eyes sunk in his head.

@SqueakyDinosaur Plus, it's become apparent that it would have been better if William and Harry had had a bit more distance, especially as it now seems Harry expected William to parent him while they were at school. I agree that the Scottish school seems to be a much better match with his character.

H has said William supported / took care of him after Diana's death and acknowledged it was probably very tough on him. Odd how he turned to utter hatred for his brother

Serenster · 17/07/2026 10:37

More rumbling about Kate and Pippa's distance. They really haven't appeared in public together in ages.

Since Kate’s carol service in December 2024 in fact. But trying to make something out that seems spurious in the extreme. Both sisters clearly value keeping their private lives private, and we have never known much at all about what either of them do out of the public eye. Some things do come out - like the Italian restaurant in Hungerford, Barkshire, that confirmed after the event that Carole, Kate and Pippa had all quietly lunched there for Kate’s birthday earlier in 2026.

There’s a whole narrative about “Kate has no friends” coming from certain quarters. How would they know? is the obvious response - the Wales don’t leak pictures to the press of their personal social lives. You also see disingenuous misunderstanding of photos we do have - like at Kate at the polo last week. She didn’t attend the fancy fund-raising luncheon that gathered to watch the polo ( that Peter and Harriet Phillips were at). She came to watch her husband play polo and present the prizes, and so stayed on the side of the pitch with the grooms and vehicles. So guess what - there aren’t any photos of her mingling with the luncheon guests. Apparently that means she has no friends, though. I sigh.

He looks like a heavy boozer. The blotchy skin is a dead giveaway.

bluegreygreen · 17/07/2026 10:39

Pippa and Catherine don't tend to appear in public together often - Catherine has a public role, Pippa does not.
There are frequently reports in 'royal' publications of private family meetings for birthdays etc - and no doubt they will see each other at other times as well.

If you look back over the years, Meghan has never publicly commented on Harry's court cases, so it's not surprising that she avoided doing so this time as well.
Having made such a point about security, both of them would have lost face had she appeared openly in the UK last week.

Starryfifty · 17/07/2026 10:39

H looks a lot older than 41, which I consider very young

SqueakyDinosaur · 17/07/2026 10:39

Why would Pippa want money? She's married to a billionaire!

HoldMyWine · 17/07/2026 10:50

you never see Harold and Rory McGrath in the same room do you?

Recklessismymiddlename · 17/07/2026 10:50

I’m reminder of the brilliant The Windsors
‘Johnny’s a billionaire’ so wish it would come back and the marvellous Haydn Gwynn 😢

They are very alike 😂

More than they lost with him appearing quite safely in public after insisting he was a taliban target and the nation would be devastated should anything happen to him?

No - but this random comment from her was obviously a clap-back to the criticism from possibly here and maybe elsewhere (was she criticised elsewhere?).

Stuff gets lifted from here directly into YouTube content and the odd opinion piece in the DM. Strange but true …

PotolKimchi · 17/07/2026 10:59

@Lifestooshort71 Relax! I'm not a H&M fan. Or a monarchist. And I quite like KM because I think she's very much a 'what you see is what you get' kind of person- posh Berkshire girl with an expensive education who is clearly a devoted mother, good with kids, and keeps her head down and does what she has to for the institution. I'm okay with that.
I find Meghan's fake wokeness (I say this as a very woke person myself) really grating. It's all performative rather than substantial. She clearly loves being a Duchess, and being adjacent to the Royal Family. Why pretend otherwise?

He was never an attractive man, though. It was hardly going to improve as he got older.

Meghan has great sadness that she was unable to support Harry last week

More like she's allergic to a loser 🤓

You took the words right out of my mouth, Cathy, though actually I thought she was supposed to have been here with him but just not seen?

She's been the shield he's hidden behind when it suits him - 'ooooh racism' - for ten years and she knows it. Doreen Lawrence can only take him so far. He needs her

That's an interesting point, @AnAutumnCrow, and here's another:
We've often seen Harry blame an entire group when one of them has "wronged" him - the media, the MIGS, government agencies, etc. - so when the inevitable happens, and if things get unpleasant, I wonder if there'll be any shift in his projected empathy with people of colour

It was announced in June - Time 100 most influential people in sport 2026

https://time.com/collection/time100-sports/2026/prince-harry/

Based on the theory of Invictus then yes there is a possible inclusion here BUT the REALITY of Invictus and its finances throws a big cloud over that.

She can sugarcoat it all she likes. She was not supporting him because he's an absolute embarrassment

Apparently in other news, the Eugene Levy interview with Prince William , has been nominated for a primetime Emmy!

In two categories.

MyDogClive · 17/07/2026 11:15

My bad about Harry not starting Eton for a year, I hadn’t realised he had delayed his start. Though I imagine that wouldn’t have been straightforward either and still think his stage of development at that time is pertinent.

But away from the heavy stuff. Can I just say how much I enjoyed the thought of married-to-a-billionaire Pippa, trying to sponge off Kate and being knocked back? Let me take a wild guess about where that story could possibly have originated.

It was the academic year that started in September 1998 whereas Diana died in 1997.

Cismyfatarse · 17/07/2026 11:18

On the Harry school thing. My source (educational link) at the time suggested he was not expected to go to Eton, but to Radley as much less academic. Eton had very strict entry requirements in terms of academic ability and knew he would be lost there. But, with Diana’s death, Eton relented so he could be with his brother and have the supportive housemaster who was so important to them both. He struggled academically at Eton, which was entirely expected. Which can’t have done much for his feeling of self worth, particularly given his 2nd son resentment.

At the same time she made a complete fool of herself when she did ' support' him. She always wants to be the centre of attention so it's much better she didn't go at all. Let him have the limelight. They are his charities, not hers. I don't think there was any need for her to be there at all.
