What more summer shenanigans await us from the Montecito duo?

Because the Palace announced the meeting was private, the current spin is that it was all very secret and last minute, so much so that the Queen had to get in her car and rush over from Ray Mill at no notice to attend. William and Kate were not informed.

Everything is calculated to increase the importance of the Sussexes.

No thinking person seriously expects that the meeting did not happen at the exact time planned by the King and Queen, and with the full knowledge of the Prince of Wales.
The idea that the Queen had to 'rush at the last minute' to attend is just ludicrous.
What I suspect is more likely is that the Sussexes were told which location was being used at the last moment, to reduce the chances of 'accidental' photographers at the location.

Well, we got it all wrong. According to the daily express, HAM insisted on keeping the meeting with KC strictly private

I wonder who told them that.
I wonder if anyone told the press about the meeting in the first place, given that BP didn't announce it, but merely confirmed itbwhen asked.

Theunamedcat · 16/07/2026 19:16

Didn't the king and Queen have appointments before and after harry and meghan? Why would she be at ray mill?

BreadInCaptivity · 16/07/2026 19:21

Starryfifty · 16/07/2026 18:58

I was kidding 😅 HAM were hoping for a photo at the very least. They absolutely didn't want a private meeting

I knew you were kidding 😃.

I just wanted to post about imagining QC’s withering stare 😂.

I imagine she does a good one - though I’d wager Anne has them all trumped on that one!

In short everybody hates it, except for quotes and hilariously the MimsnetHQ post telling us how great it is was itself too long and got click me'd.

If they keep it I will ask one of my DS's who's a bit of a genius to make a browser extension to zap it. V annoying how they invent crap stuff no-one asked for and tell us how useful it is. It's like a bloody LinkedIn post.

Exactly. People wanted it for when very long posts get quoted. Which happens a lot on this board tbf - but it should still be optional.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 16/07/2026 19:39

As this was only a few days prior to the HAM’s visit I’m pretty sure William knew exactly what was happening.

King Charles and Prince William recently had a private family gathering in Scotland rather than a lunch, taking part in an overnight "dine and sleep" event at the Palace of Holyroodhouse alongside Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward on June 30, 2026.
Gathering Detail

  • Location: Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland.
  • Date: Tuesday evening, June 30, 2026, during the annual Royal Week.
  • Attendees: King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward.
Context and Events
  • Event Purpose: The dinner functioned as an intimate "dine and sleep" stay ahead of the traditional Order of the Thistle service held the next morning at St Giles' Cathedral.
  • Media Focus: Reports noted the timing coincided closely with discussions and media speculation surrounding an anticipated UK visit by Prince

You're not wrong, KilkennyCats, but her alleged remark still sounds rather "distancing" and we can only wonder why

She's been the shield he's hidden behind when it suits him - 'ooooh racism' - for ten years and she knows it. Doreen Lawrence can only take him so far. He needs her.

We could have done with you Cathy! And @Puzzledandpissedoff on the now hidden thread that turned into an excuse to bad mouth those critical of ham !
apparently republicans aren’t allowed to post!! 🙄

Ah, I didn't see that bit.

It was just getting started when RL intervened (as ever) but hadn't turned into a bear pit.

I still wondered what it was all about though. Haven't seen MN picking their way through the flowers on behalf of newbies before 😅

AlwaysRightISwear · 16/07/2026 20:07

Tbf I think getting a bit of a kickback when people who like a dress on Meghan buy it for themselves is not unreasonable. I'm not a big fan of most of their money making endeavours but this is OK IMO.

DaisyDooley · 16/07/2026 20:09

I’m laughing at ‘Meghan lets him lead’.
Shouldn’t it be ‘Meghan lets him off his lead’??

Lunde · 16/07/2026 20:12

Yes, a regular scheduled daily teams call, it seems.

Perhaps there is a US WhatsApp group as well

LOL 3-2-1

HAM leaked article in People!

Meghan has great sadness that she was unable to support Harry last week - but Harry is in charge of dealing with the rf😂
Another source tells PEOPLE Meghan “is very supportive” of Harry, adding, “There’s a lot of sadness” over how the week unfolded and that she wasn’t able to be by his side.
However, another insider adds, when it comes to Harry’s dealings with his family, “she always lets him lead.”

Then another "well placed" source says it's all because of security 🙄if only it was sorted out (presumably as HAM want) they could come more often
says a well-placed source. “It all comes back to security. If that was resolved, there would be so much more certainty every time he comes—or they come.”

They don't give up

They just can't STFU can they ? 🤷‍♀️

I would agree with you , but not a kickback when they are doing highly publicised so called charity visits ( eg the hospital visit in Australia ) or eg meeting Bondi beach survivors. When she's out and about on their own business , fair play.

But see my comment above - I think commission on the odd frock is not what M is in the One Off thing for.

I agree - I don't think HAM knew exactly where they were going until the last minute so there was no chance for HAM to text Chris Ship et al to ensure a pap caught them driving into Highgrove while Meghan rolled the window down

I think the "Camilla had to scramble to get there" is also a clapback because HAM cannot stand that she knew more about the strategy for this meeting than they did

Translation, she's keeping her distance while he constantly messes up

CathyorClaire · 16/07/2026 20:52

Meghan has great sadness that she was unable to support Harry last week

More like she's allergic to a loser 🤓

Well, why didn't she ?

Aprilfountain · 16/07/2026 21:01

Starryfifty · 16/07/2026 20:55

Well, why didn't she ?

Because they have to keep up the pretence that it's not safe for her and the kids unless they get the security they demand!

CathyorClaire · 16/07/2026 21:02

Starryfifty · 16/07/2026 20:55

Global allergic compromising of normal function I expect.

Starryfifty · 16/07/2026 21:02

Looks like they will continue with the security spin until Ravec cave in 🙄

Starryfifty · 16/07/2026 21:15

So we will have the same kick off next July ? And will expect an invite to Camilla's 80th.

MrsLeonFarrell · 16/07/2026 21:16

The comments on that People article aren't convinced at all by the Sussex spin. Which should concern them as really America is their only market these days.

If it was the Sussexes who wanted to keep the meeting private the palace wouldn't have released a statement at all.

I'm not sure why they are still banging the security drum after proving that they can all visit safely with the public and press none the wiser. The only information anyone had about the itinerary was put out by Harry who is still under the illusion that he's royal and people are interested in him.
