They packed a lot of short visits in, cynically it feels like they want to get there first for the things W&C may have planned for their next visit
(Bondi, hospital, military, indigenous people, speech about mental health, surprising tv show guest appearance, rugby)

its the merching, appearance fees and ticket sales access which makes it grubby and entirely different in intent to a royal tour. There are definitely echoes of air miles Andy about it.

@OctopusFriend Of course Meghan was going to look emotional

I honestly don’t know how to take the above. Is it sarcasm or is it acknowledgement that she was moved by what the bereaved mums tragedy.

If you have to ask...

Honest to God. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but some folks don't! 😉

Let them get on with it. Will they still be able to do this in 15, 20 years time? Even 10?
"Here's a link to what I'm wearing/my Mum died when I was 12/ I'm the most unfortunate person in the world/nobody's been treated as badly as me/I'm an expert on mental health" etc etc.
To be clear: the above isn't sarcasm, I really mean it.

I agree.

All the damned complaining. Even the true-believers must get tired of it eventually?

Lockupyourbiscuits · 18/04/2026 08:44

In 10 years they will be rolling out the kids - neat handover time - that’s the only reason they keep teasing appearances
Thats unless they have to wait a little longer to get the Kylie Kardashian make over first - I have no doubt Meghan will encourage this due to her own extensive facial surgery and her children are going to be “upgrades” so will have to be perfect

The man in budgie smugglers got a bigger audience on the beach and his photo was free. I would rather have a fun, spontaneous photo than what looks like a work do. I have a lot of famous and titled customers I have never felt the need to ask for a photo or autograph and certainly never tried to pay for one. Strange world.

About 15 years ago when in Paris we watched a volleyball match taking place on a pretend beach on the banks of the Seine. One of the players must have been in his late 60’s or early 70’s and was obviously a very fit man. We know this because his minuscule bright yellow budgie smugglers left nothing to the imagination from head to toe. Fifteen years later I still think about that man with affection and if he’s dead now I bet his family would be happy to know he made such an impression in me.🤣

I bought I’d make it clear it was a genuine question, not a loaded one. I’d actually lost track of the thread.

And as for giving people the benefit of the doubt - it’s such a pity you obviously don’t a practice what you preach despite thinking you do.

Meghan made a big deal about her special gift as an actress… being able to cry on cue ! Hence the quote from her very own lips … left eye , tear , go !

Thank you Jeff. I didn’t know that about her but I’m still inclined to believe she fought breaking down and giving the photographer the shot he wanted when he had his camera trained on her for quite some time.

This is one of the very rare occasions I’d give her the benefit of the doubt

Leave it.

According to someone on X who claims to have been there , M arrived 25 minutes late and left early to get changed for the rugby . She also claimed there were only about 100 people there.
I am sure more details will emerge !

Are you talking about her Jessica Lockhart hug with the Bondi survivor and then the ridiculous rapid eye fluttering trying to to get her eyes to well up? It was the most hammy acting I’ve seen from her!

If Meghan is trying this as a money making scheme, she's going to have to make more of an effort!

Choux · 18/04/2026 09:53

Sounds like Meghan wrote the retreat off as it wasn’t a sellout and wasn’t going to generate good press. So she arrived late and left early.

If there were only 100 people there and hotel guests were allowed to attend for free to boost numbers then it can’t have made much money. The onstage set looked nice (and expensive). In the photo someone posted above of M posing for photos there are two blonde women hanging back. One is wearing trousers - I would guess they are two hotel guests attending for free out of curiosity.

Interesting. Someone above posted about going to a fan events (sorry I can't remember who it was). It was worth it because of the engagement and interaction with the stars/celebrities. Meghan is going to have to make a much bigger effort to bring in the dosh.

Dustyblue · 18/04/2026 10:02

Truly, only 100 people? And then she fucked off to the rugby?

I still want to know what they had for dinner at 2-3K per ticket.

Was it me? There would be a full day's programme of guest talks on both Sat and Sun. Unlike the pp whose cousin met Patrick Stewart, the cons I went to didn't have really big name guests, but they were all highly entertaining and interesting. As actors and professionals, they just got up on stage with a mic and talked directly to the audience. I remember once one of the guests most people wanted to hear was the stunt director, who also performed many of the stunts himself as a stand in for the actors.

Someone sneaking a selfie - excuse me that's 400 bucks 😂

With the size of those budgie smugglers it looks like Meagain got a view of the crack of his arse.

Thank you - yes! It sounded really interesting and definitely worth the money.

I saw somewhere they will earn over £120k for these Australian appearance!
How does this work, agents in Australia find events for them to go to.... MasterChef, weekend retreat.... They then get paid appearance fees. Presume events can be put on for them to attend too. I would imagine it would impact a hospital charity negatively if they are paying for appearance at hospital.
I really can't understand why people of Australia are interested
Do other celebrities go on these appearance circuits too?
I don't understand the whole business/economics of paying so much for them to visit Australia

Is that all? £120k?

They must be desperate.

The fall is epic - I can't think of another couple who have fallen so far from so high. From 4th Lord & Lady of the Realm on the BP balcony to ... this for £120k.

Forgive me for quoting Paul Burrell - but they drained an ocean of goodwill and for what?

I found this on an IMdB site. Wasn't there , cannot comment on its veracity 😊 But here you go

At the gala dinner, fans were treated to kingfish, beef tenderloin, and coconut crumble.

Ambassadors for the Commonwealth Trust as well - think what an incredible opportunity that was.

So it was an expensive women’s retreat gala evening … with blokes?

Well, it is Australia.
