More to the point, what are two men doing sat at the front of a "girls retreat" gala dinner?

I thought those front tables were the VIP photo tables?

Yeah, I guess Harry shelled out the extra few hundred quid for a group photo with his wife.

Onto the girlie weekend . What do they think is going to happen ?

Choosing my words carefully here because I don’t want to say anything that seems unkind about innocent members of the public, but these do not seem like society ladies with thousands to throw away. They look like ordinary folk who might have treated themselves, or been treated to, a special event. What a disappointment if they expected to be in the presence of royalty and instead just get a drive by.

BasiliskStare · 17/04/2026 14:19

@Ohpleeeease - I think I know what you're driving at. This is an excerpt from the DM which does seem to say that this wasn't a Truman Capote Black and White Ball anyone who's anyone would do anything for a ticket type of event.

"Meghan Markle's upcoming Sydney 'Her Best Life' wellness retreat may promise serenity, sound healing and a carefully curated escape - but one detail is proving harder to ignore: the guest list is looking surprisingly thin on familiar names.
For an event commanding $3000 a ticket, industry watchers say the usual signals of social interest simply aren't there.
In a city where attendance is often telegraphed well in advance, the silence has been notable.
'We've been keeping an eye on it, and there's no real traction among the usual crowd of celebrities and socialites,' one eastern suburbs insider said.
'No one's hinting they're going, no one's posting about it. That's very unusual for something positioned as this exclusive.'
Even among influencers, typically quick to align themselves with high-end wellness experiences, enthusiasm appears muted. "

I don't think Meghan is doing herself any favours with these 'hit and run' 'appearances.' Is any major event going to hire her as a star guest when she makes it so obvious that they are not a priority, but just a lucrative 'drive by' en route to somewhere more important?

We could not adore you more @meghan! Thank you for your vulnerability, honesty and joy

Where's the vomit emoji when you need it?

I notice the plebs were all kept at a distance. Doesn't look like she actually interacted with the attendees at all. Show up, grab the money and run.

Ohpleeeease · 17/04/2026 14:26

Although you’d have to pay me to attend anything like that, I feel sorry for anyone who did cough up to attend thinking it was going to be something special. It looks like every boring business conference I’ve ever attended, but with fewer biscuits.

22YearsAndCounting · 17/04/2026 14:30

What the hell was Harry doing there? Can’t they doing anything alone? But on another note Meg looked lovely. Best outfit yet.

MrsFinkelstein · 17/04/2026 14:33

Whether or not this was a success may yet to be decided.

But they certainly didn't get the crowds. Pics may take a minute to upload.

I'm sure her speech was profound and deeply meaningful.

I'm absolutely not a body language expert at all, but I have noticed when Meghan is bored or anxious/flustered in a situation and wants to leave or change the aubject - she always starts blinking very rapidly.

This is a narc sign. They can't stand it not being about them. They are struggling to process.

It could also be her attempting to suppress or force some tears? It would be hard to know what to say to the lady as a response, her story is just so sad. I presume professionals i.e. real Royalty/diplomats have set phrases to use when profoundly moved.

HelenaWilson · 17/04/2026 14:47

With real royalty, highly sensitive or emotional meetings usually take place away from the cameras.

Meghan should have worn brighter colours for that event. In the photos, she disappears against the pinky beige background.

Meghan showing her ignorance today at a Jewish remembrance event. Did she think it was beachy and nautical?

I am embarrassed to say that I didn’t note that . I was so surprised to see her in something I liked that I overlooked the significance. Apologies .

She has said she can easily produce a tear.

I’ve no time for these two but I think Meghan was trying very hard not start crying when the bereaved mum was describing her daughter’s last moments.

I think you'd have to be inhuman not to.
She ought to have paused the money making link for that outfit on that occasion, though.

Exact opposite in my opinion. I think she was trying and failing to cry.

I'm listening to a YouTube thing with a woman called Shawna Kay (sp), she's Australian and says that the public mood swings between disdain and disinterest.

MookieCat · 17/04/2026 15:35

I don't really understand what MM can bring to a conversation?

It's all 'I'm a victim' and 'It's all been so horrible to be a multi millionaire'.

Guests attending the highly anticipated “Her Best Life” retreat in Sydney this week are being asked to pay an additional $330 for the opportunity to secure a group photo with Meghan, as part of a premium VIP upgrade

$330 for a group photo! They must have more money than sense.

This report makes no sense
I did wonder if the £330 add-on was for those who hadn't paid the VIP price, but am certain the more expensive tickets were said to include group photos

So why were they too expected to cough up more? Confused
