It's irritating to have a British royal title being reduced to the same level as Bourbon Two Scilies but after Harry it creases to be a royal dukedom anyway

I think there's only ever been one other D of Sussex - a little known son of George III.

Unlike York, which is a very long established royal dukedom, dating from the time of Edward III.

Probably a good thing York was taken when Harry got married.

I didn’t realise that, I thought it would got to Archie, thank heavens for small mercies.

Archie will inherit the title if it is still H's on his death, but if A is an American citizen he might have to decline it. It won't be a royal dukedom at that time and Archie's descendents will steadily move away from the line of succession. I can't see it being a long-tetm boon.

He’s a very shadowy individual right in the thick of things! , his nickname is the fixer , he was responsible for checking and granting membership to soho house to all the unsavoury people..Epstein, maxwell , Weinstein to name but a few ..he is also difficult to find anything concrete about his background or life! Everything has been scrubbed from the internet, it’s only recently since he facilitated Harry and Meghans relationship that his name and image has become reported on ! , very interesting and very worrying.

Markus strikes me as being M&H's very own Michael Fawcett, jeff Hmm

Gala dinner implies posh frocks and bling. Is she going to do a quick change in the Ladies back into shirt and jeans for the rugby?I

And most importantly, Mergie's dropped significantly down the fashion chain....

There will come a point when reputable brands won't want to touch her, because of potential associated reputational damage. Isn't Reitmans a Canadian equivalent to M&S? Wouldn't have thought M now would fit their image, and the two of them aren't that popular in Canada anyway, are they?

here will come a point when reputable brands won't want to touch her

Or a time when those small brands she is wearing will grow because she championed them

If she wears givenchy and the like she is accused of being out of touch and flaunting worth. If she does cheaper (still expensive) she is accused of being a downgrade

So you would rather a sex offender and rape enabler/apologist than H&M. Wow.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 17/04/2026 19:17

When they divorce when Harry is of no use anymore I can see him doing an interview “There where three of us in this marriage”

Well yes, an unknown brand getting any sort of media coverage is a win for them, sure.

But that doesn't change the fact that for Meghan, going from custom Givenchy to an AI merching site is a distinct downgrade.

You don't seriously think it's an active choice for her to dress in unknown brands, do you? She's doing it because no major fashion house wants to work with her.

Not at all, I will clarify. York as a title, until the recent incumbent, had a long history in the British monarchy. If a title is going to cease to be a royal dukedom it's better for someone who likes history like me, for the minor ones to go first.

Absolutely nothing to do with AMW who is a disgrace to the title Mister at this point.

It passes down to Archie but ceases to be a royal dukedom. It is the same with the Gloucester and Kent Duchies. They get too distant from the direct line and are no longer attached to HRH. Ultimately it's a good thing. I would like to see any dukedoms going forward being bestowed like Edinburgh was, for life rather than being hereditary. Makes it clear who is core to the institution and who is simply part of the family.

A was born in the UK. Would that make a difference? (The other one wasn’t).

Archie could get American citizenship but that would knock him out of the line of succession. Who knows what the long-term plan might be.

That's not true at all.

Besides the fact that Archie is a British citizen by birth, holding foreign citizenship is no bar to being in the LoS. For example, members of the Dutch and Norwegian royal families are in the LoS. Way way down, but the principle remains the same.

I meant that if he wanted to apply for American citizenship it is a requirement of the American state that foreign titles are given up. Sorry to be unclear.

His mother is an American citizen so Archie would not need to apply. He is surely already a dual national.

Anyway, we're getting off topic. Back to Oz!

He wouldn’t leave the LoS, but he’d have to relinquish his titles to get American citizenship. The irony is that American born Lily gets to keep hers regardless.

Exact opposite in my opinion. I think she was trying and failing to cry.

I think she was determined not to cry in front of the photographer who had his camera trained on her face just waiting for her to be upset listening to the bereaved mum. She even turned her head away at one stage and took a breath to compose herself behore turning back to the mum.

The whole aim was to have the exchange in front of the cameras, though? Usually royals do very sensitive stuff like that behind closed doors.
Of course Meghan was going to look emotional.

I honestly don’t know how to take the above. Is it sarcasm or is it acknowledgement that she was moved by what the bereaved mums tragedy.

Now, this is interesting about the background of Markus Anderson, I hadn't realised how dodgy he is. It's a very murky situation, particularly with his close friendship with Meghan. All very odd.

I honestly don't know how to react to the accusation of sarcasm in this instance.
