Support for Monarchy dwindling

Support for Monarchy now down to 45%

Following on from the previous yougov polls, it seems the constant negativity about Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, William dodging tax / evicting people, Charles ignoring his brothers actions etc... has pushed royal support down to 45%.

How long until a future election process includes a party saying they'll have a referrendum on the Monarchy as part of their manifesto? probably not next time (3 years), but maybe the one after that?

Blow for Royal Family amid Epstein scandal as support reaches tipping point

A new survey has suggested that support for the Royal Family is dwindling amid the ongoing Epstein scandal that has prompted Buckingham Palace to issue an unprecedented statement that the Royals will support the police if approached

I agree fully puzzled this outfit to visit a school was particularly ill considered!

She really seems to have no concept of dressing appropriately for an occasion.

It’s more bizarre than that noodle , she wears the opposite to what she ought to wear! Flashing flesh at a school in Nigeria …modestly covered for a Kardashian party in la ! 🤷‍♀️

🤣 I did notice! , wonder what he’s reaching for in his inside pocket?…..a white pill perhaps 🤔

Where Meghan and Harry bring with them a maelstrom of drama, K and W need to have been the dreary, steady, reliable and stolid faces opening hospitals, visiting kids football matches, planting trees, opening shopping centres and other boring things that we traditionally expect and like our royal family to be seen doing. All that presence would have done a lot to quell the noise the Sussexes bring.

I agree.

E2 recognised the value of being 'seen' and that's being dispensed with in favour of 'initiatives' which however worthy on paper (and let's be real, they are simply replicating an awful lot of other people's work) is unlikely to appeal to die-hard royal fans who just want to see 'em in the flesh.

Either their expensive Crisis Manager and assorted PR team aren't pointing this out to them (unlikely) or they're simply not listening.

I think it’s exactly the right time for the Sussexes to return and inject a bit of glamour into a fading dynasty.

Part of me thinks this too. In the words of Pam 'I love the drama' (unashamedly ;)

mypinkdog · 21/08/2026 23:49

Glamour? That's a strange word for lies, deception, underhand behaviour, mockery and all their other attributes.

Lilliputain · 22/08/2026 07:54

My post seems to have triggered a lot of people.

I worked for the drama dept in the BBC a while ago. We were at an OB (rare now in this green screen age) and a minor actress in a minor role rocked up with her entourage lauding it everywhere. She had been part of a relatively successful sit com and was now in her downward trajectory. I can’t remember her name but I do remember her hangers on and the beautific smile she gave everyone who looked in her direction.

adragoncalledaudrey · 22/08/2026 09:58

Triggered?

No.

It is just that sometimes one feels the need to point out something for the pile of keich it is.

And on this occasion? People did.

Because it was.

Yes - the initiatives are fine but, let’s be real - K and W, however willing, are not qualified authorities in the fields of sustainability or early years. However they can network, platform and champion and this is what they should be doing a lot more. It’s been fine while things have been quieter but now, with the return of more drama, they just aren’t busy or present enough to rise above being involved. Their headlines aren’t powerful enough sadly.

Have you never watched Dynasty, so much lies, deception and underhandedness.., still very glamorous 😉.

adragoncalledaudrey · 22/08/2026 13:17

I think the headlines of W&C are always going to pale into insignificance against those of H&M.

Although why anyone would want to make that a competition or comparison I don’t know.

I think M&H are welcome to their headlines about libel costs, questionable German uniforms, jam and yachts.

Is that what you were hoping?

I read the word “glamour” and thought about Catherine in the Jenny Packham dress she wore to the Bond Premiere.

Then I thought about what Meghan wore to the Kardashian birthday and how the shades of the top and bottom were mismatched. I wondered if this event and that costume seemed glamorous to anyone.

Honestly, I am very uncomfortable at the comparison, at scrutinizing Meghan that way. I feel second-hand embarrassment for this woman whose fans gush over her like a mother living vicariously.

When will the game of treating these women as if they are things to be compared end for you? It is very one-sided and quite cruel.

simpsonthecat · 22/08/2026 13:35

Yet that is exactly what you have done in your post!

Compared what Kate wore to a premiere with what Meghan wore. You didn't need to compare to prove your point but that is exactly what you did!

chirrupybird · 22/08/2026 13:38

They would probably be relieved no more public duties, just the life of a rich family.

I didn’t do it in my post, I did it the minute I read your words saying the Sussexes would bring what was lacking. You or that other poster used the word “glamour”.

My post only laid out for you what actually went on in my head immediately upon reading it.

But that’s what you both wanted, is it not? Why otherwise make the gloaty post about “triggering” others.

Please stop pretending you care about these people and admit arguing here with others is just a hobby for you. There’s no morality to it, just a pastime.

simpsonthecat · 22/08/2026 13:48

@UserNomNom

Please check your facts.

Another poster talked about injecting glamour. Not me.

Another poster said about triggering posters. Not me.

I have only just entered this conversation when you said how wrong it was to compare two women, whilst doing precisely that.

And as for my motives in posting, you don't know me. I'm pleased about that actually!

DH has put on some Meghan & Harry documentary and the narrator has said glamour or glamorous at least 3 times in the last 5 minutes.
