William and Catherine are comfortable hugging strangers, their DC are following suit. I’m sure they’ve talked to them about boundaries and personal comfort and safety, but they also know there are certain expectations which go with the job.

Only in Britain do people get panic stricken about this stuff, in Europe children still get a lot of affection from strangers and are not psychologically damaged by it.

Yea but not randoms who treat them like Demi gods. It’s not healthy at all. Plus they are being photographed and those photos are there for perpetuity. The whole thing is deeply distasteful.

You might be surprised how children are showered with affection by strangers in Southern European countries. I’m thinking particularly of Sicily, Spain and Portugal.

I think the Demi God thing is a valid point but it isn’t a new thing, the British Press fosters it and always has. It’s up to their parents to monitor the situation and listen to their children’s feelings when engaging with the public.

Unfortunately phones are part of people’s lives now, it’s sad but some people cannot experience anything without also feeling the need to capture it in an image. The Queen said she missed being able to see people’s faces as so often they were hidden by their phones pointed at her.

Time to end the tradition of the Christmas Day pap walk.

Time to end the tradition of the Christmas Day pap walk.

Why? It’s one of the few times the royal family are seen en masse, costs nothing, takes a very short time and does no harm to anybody.

Except the children when they are being hugged and pawed .

ThePoshUns · 31/12/2025 13:24

They could do the walk but not allow the children to be pawed over and have selfies with the oddballs that go there to watch

And que a thousand complaints about that too!
they cannot win, this behaviour is fuelled by the same people who think that because they pay taxes towards the royal family that they own them and deserve to see them and know their private medical information.

They’ve done the walk for ages-they haven’t introduced the children to members of the public or let them do selfies before.

Isn't 'the walk' being discussed on at least two other threads currently? Including its own dedicated thread?

Yep. I think it’s making people’s heads spin a bit!🤣🤣

I've often thought that in the absence of more strict monitoring for off topic comments, this forum would be better as a kind of a blog. Because all the threads merge into one after a couple of pages, so you end up having the same people discussing the same thing across three different threads!

Yet you saw fit to revive a thread that’s been dead for 7 days.

She is reverse searching me and going onto other threads I've commented on and replies to them to make a nasty point. Thankyou for pointing it out hopefully MNHQ will ban her soon
