I have no problem with H&M keeping their kids faces private but because the way they have chosen to do this by constantly featuring them but mostly from the back of the head, or face obscured, it’s led to an unfortunate and weird impression for me.

And now I’ve seen it I can’t unsee it.

If you scroll down the IG feed Lili runs all the way through it always looking in another direction - it feels a bit like a creepy Doctor Who episode or that movie with Nicole Kidman. It’s that unnerving feeling that you get in jump scares when the character finally turns around.

I think a much better option would have been to not use the kids so much in the brand advertising if they weren’t going to have the faces being seen naturally occasionally.

Yes!

ThePoshUns · 21/12/2025 07:23

The Sussexes could easily avoid all this commentary and speculation by simply not including their children in the photos in the first place.
They don’t want their faces in the media , fine. Has anyone ever seen photos of George Clooney’s children? He’s as high profile and has kept his children’s privacy.
M&H have chosen to invade their children’s privacy , much like the Beckhams to prop up their brand. Obscuring their children’s faces doesn’t cut it for me, in fact it’s worse as invites more speculation than if they actually just showed their faces.
The Wales ‘ have it about right, regular, official photos released to the press when it suits them. They have complete control of the narrative.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 21/12/2025 07:37

It’s just so weird. On the one hand, you’ve got H & M preaching about not exposing children to the evils of social media….and then they voluntarily post pictures of their own children online, exposing them to all manner of scrutiny. They absolutely do not have to do it. Most celebrities don’t. It’s almost like one person in that relationship thinks, ‘We must protect our children’s privacy at all costs’ then the other one has two glasses of wine, sees that the Wales’s have released a family picture and thinks, ‘What the hell….’ and shoves a picture up online anyway, knowing they will win any subsequent argument.

BlueThunder · 21/12/2025 11:06

I’m not the only one who’s wondered if Meghan and Harry post their children’s pictures to social media (with all, or some, of their faces obscured) in response to the awful lies on the worst of social media that they don’t even have kids and that Meghan was never pregnant.

I doubt it. Those fantasists aren't worth pandering to.
No, it'll be to get more followers/clicks/headlines... it's certainly worked!

I have to agree with this. People say " oh but you never see their faces"- you see a great deal of these children enough to identify a likelihood of it being them. Now if you had some of the crazies that H says are out there wanting to kidnap these children or pap them it wouldn't be too difficult if you were in the right location. They are playing with fire and the biggest issue with it is they are hypocrites! How the heck can you preach to the world about social media when they are using their children as bait for their " cause"?

Does a child’s clothing choice matter to you? I think she can wear whatever she likes.

It seems to me she was asking a question not making any criticism.

I was indeed . I was just curious , certainly not a criticism. I wouldn’t criticise A and L. Their parents are a different matter…..

BasiliskStare · 21/12/2025 16:52

My view for what is worth - I don't mind that photo of the Sussexes on the bridge . I can see the cuteness even if it isn't a great photo, and in some ways I can see it not being perfect has some charm. What I would say is don't send it out to the world if you don't want comment.

I thought it was a strange question. Does it matter what other girls wear in the US? Maybe this particular child likes long socks or maybe Meghan and Harry just choose to dress her that way. Children don’t all have to dress alike so why would it matter what other girls in the US are wearing.

Dweetfidilove · 21/12/2025 21:20

Does she have messy, unkempt hair or does she have thicker than usual hair that frizzes; and her parents have decided less manipulation is the best way to go?

MrsKateColumbo · 21/12/2025 22:10

She has the same hair type as DD i think and it naturally goes like that. It can look all glossy after she's been to the hairdresser who has blow dried it, but i dont think little girls need to worry about blow drying their hair for a picture.

Yes I also wonder if they post the obscured partial photos of the dc to diffuse any competition among paparazzi to get the “first shots” of the children and reduce the value of them on the market.

Fair enough. You are going to get comments if you post a picture publically.

But that doesn’t remove individual responsibility from each and every one of us wrt what we comment on and how we comment.

And I still don’t think it’s right to comment on a four year old’s hair.

I disagree. There is no way I would recognise their dcs’s faces in a crowd but I would definitely recognise George, Charlotte or Louie.

Well of course you would recognise the Wales children 😂 even if you can't spell his name.

I agree. The public can even tell when Louis has lost more baby teeth!
I haven't a clue what the Sussex children look like facially. I think Harry and Meghan have managed it well.
I wish the Wales children could be kept out the media more, it comes to something when you've got Charlotte repeatedly on the front of Hello! (Not their parents' choice I'm sure, nothing to do with them)

NormaMajors1992coat · 22/12/2025 07:19

Surely ‘managing it well’ would be never posting pictures of their children on the internet, as they repeatedly warn other parents not to do? There is no need for A+L’s privacy - and if you believe Harry, their safety and mental health - to be compromised in this way, no need for their parents to deliberately ramp up interest with the stupid tease photos. Except of course to feed their own desperate need for attention and to promote their online shop. It’s a horrible, needless breach of the children’s privacy for their parents’ own selfish ends.

Thegala · 22/12/2025 07:52

I think Meghan appears desperate to launch the kids, maybe building ‘value’ for the big reveal? That would likely get her a Vogue spread. She won’t like the comments if Lilibeth still looks like her grandfather Markle though, could be a possible reason she hasn’t launched them yet.

JSMill · 22/12/2025 08:32

I think Harry and Meghan have managed it well.
But there didn’t have to be anything to be managed. Archie and Louis could easily grow up away from the public eye, unlike their cousins. I don’t know what motivates them to release these ‘teasing’ images, given they claim to be passionate about children’s online safety.

Mylovelygreendress · 22/12/2025 08:33

I think she would be making a huge mistake @Thegala. As others have said , many celebs( eg Clooneys, Julia Roberts) manage to keep their young DC out of the spotlight.
The DC will immediately be compared to the Wales DC which is not fair on either side .
Given everything H has said about growing up in the spotlight it would be outrageously hypocritical for him then to use his DC for publicity / money .

bluegreygreen · 22/12/2025 10:11

I think Harry and Meghan have managed it well.

I think it's the hypocrisy that annoys people @simpsonthecat. Harry is on record (in his most recent podcast interview with Hasan Minhaj) telling parents they shouldn't be putting photos of their children online, while the Sussexes the same week released photos and videos of their pumpkin patch trip.

The Wales children (at least George, and most likely the other two) will have a constitutional role as working royals, so need to get used to public appearances. Their parents are clearly trying to manage this. The Sussex children do not have that role.
