Thomas Markle very ill

I've just read Thomas Markle is in hospital intensive care. He has been treated poorly by Meghan. I doubt if the pair will have anything to say about this. Though they've always plenty to say about a lot of things. Doubt they'll be rushing to his bedside.

It was. When I first read your comment, as I hadn’t read all the thread, you said that the poster said, ‘those that are lonely brought it all on themselves’ when in actual fact, the poster had said ‘lonely people are usually lonely because they’re are unpleasant.’ Totally different because she said the word ‘usually’. Her words leave room for those who haven’t brought it on themselves, yours didn’t. You twisted it, which was unfair. As you keep pointing out others are calling them out on it, others including me are also calling you out for twisting it.

No it wasn’t I copied as it was said. It’s interesting that the only ones who think it was twisted /edited are the same ones who think Thomas Markle is the devil incarnate and deserves ever the got.

Lonely people are usually lonely because they’re not pleasant people to be around.
Like some others on here, I was fairly horrified by this comment and ready to jump in on the attack. However, @jeffgoldblum agreeing with the poster has given me pause for thought. I usually respect their opinion on these threads (well balanced and fair) so I'm now rethinking my original reaction - but, whatever the reason for loneliness, it's extremely sad 😔

Oh you may have got the wrong impression @Lifestooshort71!, I definitely don’t agree and am fairly horrified myself that self confessed members of the caring profession could exhibit such a lack of care or empathy towards elderly patients!
perhaps you got confused by my comment to another poster who was saying similar?
when I said it was “usually “ the case I was referring to the uncaring attitude from caregivers towards their patients.

lickingfingertastingfood · 14/12/2025 18:30

There's some horrible statements on here. I agree @jeffgoldblum.

jeffgoldblum · 14/12/2025 18:31

And I would like to add that this rather sad discussion is odd considering that it was posters on this very thread that put forward the notion that Thomas markle is lonely!
we have no actual evidence that he is , missing his daughter when he has two other children ( one who is his caregiver and one in constant contact) doesn’t mean he is lonely .

Because of texts released in court documents? She tried very hard to get him to come to the wedding. But if you don't believe court docs, there's not much more I can say
He refused to answer her and his calls and texts, and twice turned away security people she had sent close to the wedding.

I do, however, agree that Harry should have met him beforehand.

@ShesGotItAll Yes, it is true. Both harry and meghan repeatedly tried to contact him.

I haven't managed to read the court documents yet - if you have direct links I would be grateful.

The reports I have seen discuss texts mentioning 'logistics and supplies', keeping a low profile, not talking to the media and sending 'security guys' but not begging him to come to the wedding.

Thank you Jeff. I thought this is what you meant but certainly don’t want to speak on your behalf and I do agree with you

This was what was said . It means most people who are lonely are unpleasant. Stop trying to pretend it was anything else. As for I'm a nurse I know - what kind of attitude is that to carry? It's like a teacher saying well he or she will fail because they are from a council estate.

👍 , when I was younger I worked in a care home ( two in fact!) , I was witness to the horrible conditions and treatment that the elderly residents received from so called “care staff “ and nurses, yes a few were difficult but even those were reacting to the treatment the only way they could! , I won’t upset you by going into details.
im also not happy by the ageism that seems prevalent lately, old people seem to be treated like burdens and not people.
getting elderly doesn’t suddenly make someone unpleasant, they would have been unpleasant as a young person too.
And I’m genuinely horrified at seeing the sm posts from Meghans fans on the internet, one actually posted that he “ should have his arms and remaining leg as well as his tongue cut off” !
im speechless at this level of hate towards an old man.

Your post is not being discounted but when you are claiming texts from Megan to her father encouraging himto come to the wedding form part of a court case it would be nice to see links to these documents as I’m sure you would want to see the same?

The poster said ‘most’. Thats not all. Why is that a problem if that is what is true in her experience. As I said in my earlier post about her other comment, and it applies to this one too, her words leave room for those that are not lonely due to bringing it on themselves or who aren’t lonely because they’re unpleasant. If the poster had said ‘everyone that is lonely is lonely because they’re unpleasant, you would have a point, but from what I can see she hasn’t.

Ime, most nice people aren’t lonely and have people around them who would come to their aid if they had their leg amputated. Not every nice person, but definitely most. I know more lonely people who aren’t very nice people than I do lonely people who are nice.

That’s a dreadful thing for people to say. It’s beyond comprehension really. As I’ve said earlier loneliness in the order generation is caused by many factors and being horrible may in some cases be true but it’s certainly not true in all cases. Older people have a lot to offer the younger generation and is such a waste of learned intelligence for them to be totally disregarded. Whether peoplelike Thomas or not he has had a leg amputed. It’s an awful thing for anyone to have to go through and the suggestion that he somehow deserved it is abhorrent to me.

But this is pointless speculation! , Thomas hasn’t revealed he is lonely and his son was at his side when his leg was amputated, a friend who is also a journalist also rushed to his side, his other daughter obviously couldn’t fly to him with her own health issues understandably.
he isn’t alone.

Other people disagree with you. It seem odd to me that for not being a fan you defend everything where Megan is criticised.

You want me to do the hard work then! And link court documents!

I’m sure you would want to see the same?
No. I'd do my own research!

There's Reuters, Sky, BBC, Guardian, People, Newsweek and many many more, even Woman & Home haha, but that's not enough. 😂

Here I think it is.. It's a lot of pages. Good luck. No idea if this link will work, it's on Adobe, I hope I haven't compromised anything on my laptop with the chrome extension.

The court documents don’t say what you said though (which was “Because of texts released in court documents? She tried very hard to get him to come to the wedding”).

The texts discussed in the court hearing show both Meghan and Harry tried very hard to stop Thomas talking to the media, and to engage with them in their attempts to get him to stop talking to the media. They got very heated (the judge declined to read one of Harry’s out aloud as he said it reflected too badly on him - remember, this was to Harry’s ill soon-to-be FIL whom Harry had never met). They weren’t pleading with Thomas to come to the wedding. They were trying toy get him to do what they wanted.

Again it’s interesting that you get all perturbed when someone asks you to verify a post you made and yet you asked me earlier to show you proof of a wedding invitation. Quite why you asked me I don’t know as I didn’t speak about any wedding invitation, but what’s important here is if you ask for verification you are also going to get asked to provide it. There is no point in getting all upset about it.

Yes this is my recollection too !
and wasn’t this about the leaked letter that was written to “ pull at heartstrings “ if it was released to the public? ( although so many cases I could have confused them!)

Splitting hairs! I said I hadn't read the court docs, but I had - however - read the countless news reports on it on many different media outlets.

They contacted him repeatedly. He ignored them. In my book, they were trying to sort out his travel, security and attendance. You may feel different. Your opinion. He chose to ignore them.

We all have different opinions on here don't we???

It didn’t take long did it. The mask has also slipped from some of the “I’m not a fan but”
