Thomas Markle very ill

I've just read Thomas Markle is in hospital intensive care. He has been treated poorly by Meghan. I doubt if the pair will have anything to say about this. Though they've always plenty to say about a lot of things. Doubt they'll be rushing to his bedside.

Do we know if the half siblings were at M’s first wedding ?

Don’t think so. Iirc it was her mum, her now ex best friend, ex colleagues from Suits then various “celebs” such as the Beckhams and Oprah. And Oprah had only met Megan once before and i don’t think had ever met Harry. She was reportedly surprised to have got an invite.

TM is clearly a misguided, tragic individual. I suspect (like his daughter) he likes the attention and limelight from the media, and let’s be honest, without it, what would he have?

meghan has written him off years ago and whether or not he talks to the media clearly has no intention of reconciling. Whilst I think it’s highly unedifying behaviour on his behalf, I can also see that from his perspective, this is likely the only way he can prompt a response from Meghan, because she may not want to look completely uncaring in the eyes of the world.

I’m sure her preference would be that he stops making a spectacle of himself, takes himself out of the public eye and goes off and dies quietly without embarrassing her further - so in his mind I suppose he sees it that he has nothing to lose as she’s going to ignore him either way.

I suspect there’s also a bit of wanting to set the record straight - as I had already seen a suggested narrative from the Sussex camp casting doubt that he actually was as ill as he claimed (aides reaching out to “verify” his health claims)

On all sides the situation is ugly, dysfunctional and at its heart, very sad.

Thank you for the reminder that the Palace/LQ said that they were taking the allegation seriously.

Buckingham Palace statement:

The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.

They said nothing and picked up an award from the Robert F Kennedy centre for tackling institutional racism in the RF. They let both Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth die with the slur hanging over their family. Harry only backtracked during his Spare press junket. Curiously, that awful racist treatment of Meghan was never mentioned in either the Netflix docusoap or Spare. It only came up again, a year later, with Omid Scobie’s Dutch translation of Endgame, which has still never been explained. We don’t even know if the person referred to in that translation, “The Princess of Wales” was meant to be Catherine or the actual person with that title at the time of the alleged remarks - Camilla, who (for obvious reasons) never used it. Harry and his wife let another two people, Charles and Catherine, suffer through their illnesses and cancer while the racism slur hangs over their heads. The one and only source of those names and the parties who can put the record straight must be the Sussexes - and yet they remain silent. And as we know from Meghan, silence is complicity.

Hoo, I'd forgotten about the Ripple of Hope award for tackling racism in the RF.

( But I hadn't forgotten there was just one racist Royal in M's initial story ( but she wasn't going to name them because the shame would be too much for them to bear, so they all got tarnished). But by Endgames it had become two.)

While adding the caveat that "some recollections may vary".

bluegreygreen · 07/12/2025 12:56

Yes, the Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award was December 2022.

By January 2023 Harry denied the racism accusation in his interview with Tom Bradby. Apparently it was all the fault of the 'British press'.

In Sunday's interview, Bradby said: "In the Oprah interview, you accuse members of your family of racism..."
"No," Harry interjected. "The British press said that, right? Did Meghan ever mention 'they're racists'?" Bradby said: "She said there were troubling comments about Archie's skin colour. Wouldn't you describe that as essentially racist?"
Harry responded that he would not describe the incident as racist, "not having lived within that family".
"The difference between racism and unconscious bias... the two things are different," he said.
Unconscious bias is "the tendency of us as humans to act in ways that are prompted by a range of assumptions and biases that we are not aware of", a University of Edinburgh definition says.
Harry continued: "Once it's been acknowledged or pointed out to you as an individual, otherwise an institution, that you have unconscious bias, you therefore have an opportunity to learn and grow from that... otherwise, unconscious bias then moves into the category of racism."

So, a month after accepting the award for standing up against 'structural racism' in the Royal Family, he denied it existed.

Her father was definitely at her first wedding too .

Oops There seems to be various reports.

So Meghan now claiming ‘she sent her father an email’.

It’s laughable, the man is in intensive care, he has had a limb amputation and she thinks he is opening his emails.

I read somewhere (so might not be true), that the late queen urged her to make amends with the family to try and manage the situation and halt the negativity. If that's true the queen was very sensible but not persuasive in this instance.

Harry himself said that both the Late Queen and then POW tried to persuade M to visit her father but she refused .

Sorry, so it was 😀

however I’ve always found it odd how few people that she was actually close to/or even knew came to her second wedding. Even if your family was batshit surely you’d have more friends! And of course the friend she did have then she no longer talks to. It’s an interesting pattern of dropping people.

He seems to be communicating with the press and enjoying his m9ment in the spotlight, so it’s not unbelievable that he could read an email. If he has asked Meghan to make contact, then it would make sense that he would check all ways that she may get in touch with him (or get someone else to on his behalf). The whole thing is a circus and beyond embarrassing.

I watched the wedding with my DS and every time I said “Who’s that?” he said “Someone from Suits”. Considering she’d been on the show for 5(6?7?) years isn’t it likely that a lot of her friends would have been from the show? No idea if she’s still friends with any of them now, of course!

Thedom · 07/12/2025 15:15

The man is 80, even if he wasn't in intensive care and recently operated on to remove a limb, he may not be very technically savvy anymore, I think using the email is a get out of jail attempt for Meghan

No, Thomas was there too. He gave her away.
In Trevor's wedding speech he also said Meghan now "had the family she'd never had" - to the bemusement of Thomas and Doria.

She didn’t even invite her own niece whom she says she say she is close to in order to “protect her”. Protect her from what exactly? I’m sure the niece would have loved to attend her aunt’s wedding.

Yeah she isn’t friends or in contact with the Suits lot. There was some awards show where the buzz was about Suits coming back on tv again and one of the actresses Gina someone said they don’t have her number and that they haven’t spoken in a long time. This was during Meghan’s philanthropist/ humanitarian reinvention which has now dropped by the wayside.

At the time it was odd - in hindsight it was clearly a huge red flag.

She had all of Doris’s family - aunt, uncle, cousins who seemed lovely and normal and said nice things about her when tracked down by the press.

Her father’s brother who had helped her get her Argentinian internship - who had been a diplomat so perfectly capable of behaving at a royal wedding.

The niece she is close to etc etc

I wonder if she gambled on not inviting any so she could justify not inviting her half siblings?

The thing that struck me re her friends and colleagues was the Suits cast who she had worked with day in day out for five years were in the ‘cheap’ seats in the middle of the chapel and George Clooney and Oprah who she had NEVER met were right up in the front of the chapel.

Possibly, but if he is technically savvy enough to use texting, then he can use email, or get someone to help. If you ask someone to get in touch, you keep an eye on all the ways they could do that. He sounds like a nightmare, photos in his hospital bed and enjoying the ‘fame’. What a dick.

Omg. This is a man who has just had his leg amputated, is probably in a lot of pain and is probably wondering how is going to look after himself and you call him a dick? I suspect the money the MoS paid for the photos will help him pay for his expenses.
