The statement says “formal notice has been served to surrender the lease”. It’s the tenant who surrenders a lease, not the landlord, so Andrew has obviously been prevailed upon to quit the lease himself.

Ah, fair enough Serenster - though goodness knows what's gone on which meant he could be persuaded

@AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta I looked it up and the last one this happened to was Prince Ernest the Duke of Cumberland, back in 1917.
Apparently he swore allegiance to Germany during the war, which being German himself may have been a natural thing to do, but presumably didn't look good

ShenandoahRiver · 30/10/2025 19:40

Lownie also said the RF will be toast if all the stuff about the absolute disregard for tax payers money comes to light.

Statement below

About time.

Very good statement. Should have been issued 2 weeks ago, if not way sooner.

Allowing Andrew to issue his own statement and the weaker measures were a mistake.

Zov · 30/10/2025 19:40

Shocked. But pleased.

I honestly didn't think that the title of 'Prince' could be taken away from him, as it's his birthright? Seems I was wrong.

Also seems (from that statement) that King Charles doesn't believe Andrew is innocent.

Also, it's good that they mentioned the survivors of the abuse, but it would have been nice to have mentioned the ones who didn't survive. (e.g. Virginia Giuffre.)

Oh, and SHAME on anyone comparing Harry to Andrew. Disgraceful. Harry is NOTHING like Andrew. What a vile thing to say. Hmm

BigWillyLittleTodger · 30/10/2025 19:41

Arraminta · 30/10/2025 19:39

So, will his 'Prince' title also be officially removed by Parliament?

The Monarch has the sole power to remove the Prince title, it doesn’t need an act of Parliament unlike the Duke title.

PrincessofWells · 30/10/2025 19:41

mumofsixfluffs · 30/10/2025 19:31

They should house him amongst commoners in a council house just so he really feels his fall. I’ve nothing against council houses and I don’t mean commoners as a slur but that is how he must view the general public thinking we are all stupid. Happy Christmas Andrew!!!

Do you really think he isn't a multi millionaire? With fairly huge resources running to at least quite a few millions if not more. Maybe not enough for a house in Grosvenor Square but I'd be confident they could buy somewhere for a few million.
Plus he hasn't agreed to surrender the lease without something in return. He's stupid but not utterly stupid.

Viviennemary · 30/10/2025 19:41

Arraminta · 30/10/2025 19:39

Looks like it.

Arraminta · 30/10/2025 19:39

So, will his 'Prince' title also be officially removed by Parliament?

KC seems to have requested the Lord Chancellor to do this; I don't know if it's then passed on to Parliament.

Imaginethatifyoucan · 30/10/2025 19:11

Let’s hope Harry is next

Harry’s a gobshite but has not a broken the law , not slept with trafficked women, not maintained friendships with pedophiles not lied about all the above AND harry IS living in private accommodation making his own money

Arraminta · 30/10/2025 19:42

Thank you.

WineBeforeWhine · 30/10/2025 19:42

What is ironic is that he takes the name of his uncle who had very serious allegations against him as well.

Dweetfidilove · 30/10/2025 19:42

Will peado also lose the Dukedom?

Lemme guess, he'll move into another property funded by ?

That we know about yet.

sexlesshusbandwoes · 30/10/2025 19:42

Well done for being so very brave Virginia …rest in peace

Flixon · 30/10/2025 19:10

And KC has made the statement. Backbone at last. He has finally had enough. Thank goodness.

No backbone at all. Republic are taking out a private prosecution. Charles’ hand was forced.

IcedPurple · 30/10/2025 19:42

WineBeforeWhine · 30/10/2025 19:13

This is huge!

It is.

The Duke of York, son and brother of monarchs, to be plain Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

Unprecedented, certainly in modern times.

bluegreygreen · 30/10/2025 19:43

The statement says the King has 'inititated a formal process' to remove the style, titles and honours.

Presumably that means he will remove the ones he can (Prince, KG), and ask parliament to remove the one they need to (Duke).
It would make sense if the practicalities of it have already been discussed.

RhododendronFlowers · 30/10/2025 19:43

Arraminta · 30/10/2025 19:42

Thank you.

KC's request is with the Lord Chancellor.

Noras · 30/10/2025 19:43

As I said in the thread I started last week that there was no alternative. I am a die hard supporter of a CM and he was destroying the institution brick by brick.

JSMill · 30/10/2025 19:44

NConthe · 30/10/2025 19:39

Why would it be William? He’s happy to be seen with him and has been happy to be his neighbour 🤷🏽‍♀️

The only reason they’ve done this is because they’ve been asked formally to explain and justify keeping him there in Royal Lodge all these years. The only reason.

How do you know he was happy to be seen with him? He looked pretty pissed off when Andrew kept chatting to him at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral. To say they are neighbours is quite a stretch. It’s not like they live in a cul de sac on an estate in Maidenhead. I think their homes are a couple of miles apart. Windsor Great Park is huge.

frostedpixie · 30/10/2025 19:44

Hopefully he'll be so angry he'll decide to take others down with him and start naming names. Fingers crossed.

Bobiverse · 30/10/2025 19:44

WineBeforeWhine · 30/10/2025 19:42

What is ironic is that he takes the name of his uncle who had very serious allegations against him as well.

He hasn’t picked it. That’s their name. Decided a long time ago.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/10/2025 19:45

Yiayoula · 30/10/2025 19:14

@ShenandoahRiver - Are you saying Charles had to be forced ?
By whom ? ( genuine question).

Public opinion?

StartupRepair · 30/10/2025 19:45

This is a really good outcome in the light of his potentially criminal behaviour. Also satisfying when I think of his awful laughing and pushing to the front at the Duchess of Kent's funeral.

MrsLeonFarrell · 30/10/2025 19:45

HedwigIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/10/2025 19:42

This would have been in process for sometime. Probably before Republic decided to grandstand.
