I wonder if something else is about to come out about him!

Very possibly, @Thedom, but right now I'm interested to see if Andrew will retaliate

Also, what happened to the lengthy lease which so many insisted Charles could do nothing about? Confused

The rumour mill said that his daughters had been told if they didn't get him to relinquish it they'd be next for title stripping.

Since he's done his utmost to ensure they're as fully in the RF as they can be, I'd say it was probably a threat to his daughters that's made him do it.

Let’s hope Harry is next

There's something very wrong with you if you think that using trafficked young women is in any way comparable to anything Harry has done.

That's pretty offensive.

They should house him amongst commoners in a council house just so he really feels his fall. I’ve nothing against council houses and I don’t mean commoners as a slur but that is how he must view the general public thinking we are all stupid. Happy Christmas Andrew!!!

Why should his council house neighbours have to put up with him and the publicity and nuisance that goes with it?

RogueFemale · 30/10/2025 19:34

I welcome the Palace statement but it's still unclear about stripping Andrew of his titles, we were told this could only happen with an Act of Parliament.

Imaginethatifyoucan · 30/10/2025 19:29

Yes he is doing it his way. Publicly trashing and embarrassing his brother and family and the sister in law who had been so good to him.

Yeah, it was lovely of Ferguson to talk about Diana's verrucas, have her photo taken of her toes being sucked and try to sell access to his brother.

I wonder if certain other non working royals are getting a wee bit worried about how far William might swing the axe when he himself is King.

All to the good if W does intend a cull - my personal view is the RF is outdated. If we must have one, then just leave it at a King (or Queen) and one heir.

ShenandoahRiver · 30/10/2025 19:36

@Yiayoula
The weight of public opprobrium. The RF couldn't withstand it any longer.

Would that have already been done behind the scenes?

Yes, I can sew that happening. Just the immediate family.

Does anyone know the last time this happened?

George V used the Titles Deprivation Act 1917 to remove the British princely titles of several of his relatives who had fought for Germany.

The two most prominent royal family members who were "de-princed" by this were Charles Edward, Duke of Albany and Ernest Augustus, Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale. Both were titled princes as they were grandsons of Queen Victoria, and were stripped of all British titles, including the royal dukedom and the title of Prince.

MadameTwoSwords · 30/10/2025 19:37

He should be known as The Andrew Formally Known As Prince

dagoo · 30/10/2025 19:37

Serenster · 30/10/2025 19:29

I don’t think you can really say Andrew’s been thrown under the bus here given his own past conduct, including lying about his contact with Epstein, is the reason why he’s facing consequences. Jes Staley, ex-CEO of Barclays lost his job and has been banned from working the City for the same reason. They are reaping the consequences of their own choices.

Agree, Lownie said he WILL be thrown under the bus as more comes out

I think if he isn't stripped of all of them (and is only going to not use them) it will come back to bite the RF.

However, if the monarch can do this, then we know for next time!

It's quite the watch. This won't have happened overnight and i so wonder if wheels started moving after his released that awful statement a couple of weeks ago. The King is certainly wanting to emphasise that he is on the side of the abused, and quite right too.

At every turn Andrew has refused to apologise or show shame or remorse. If he had done he might not be in this position. He was arrogant and entitled to the end and it has resulted in his downfall.

RhododendronFlowers · 30/10/2025 19:38

For a person so entitled, so arrogant and so superior as Andrew, this will devastate him.
Good.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 30/10/2025 19:38

Thank you @Serenster . I guess one thing Andrew can console himself with is that he's now in a very unique club.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 30/10/2025 19:39

Too little, too late. He's lived a life of extreme privilege and greed - and it won't stop behind closed doors. All he's lost is a title and a home he couldn't afford to maintain. He'll still have housekeepers, cleaners, cooks, butlers, drivers, gardeners, the best cars, the best diet, best medical care.

It's all about optics here and the public are falling for it.

NConthe · 30/10/2025 19:39

SpottyAardvark · 30/10/2025 19:24

I assume it’s William who is really behind this. By all accounts he can’t stand Andrew. So if the monarchy is going to cut Andrew off completely, will he only have his Navy pension to live on?

Why would it be William? He’s happy to be seen with him and has been happy to be his neighbour 🤷🏽‍♀️

The only reason they’ve done this is because they’ve been asked formally to explain and justify keeping him there in Royal Lodge all these years. The only reason.

Arraminta · 30/10/2025 19:39

So, will his 'Prince' title also be officially removed by Parliament?

wordler · 30/10/2025 19:39

I think this shows that the bar has to be quite high to result in title stripping so Harry or others with current titles shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

I suspect William will change the way titles are awarded and passed on though to reduce the possibility of the Prince/ess title ending up within the non direct heir branches of the family.

ShenandoahRiver · 30/10/2025 19:39

The late Queen didn't have the heart to do it to her own son.

She didn't believe a word Virginia Giuffre said. That's why she didn't take action.

RogueFemale · 30/10/2025 19:34

The statement talks about the King "initiating the formal process" which indicates that this will go through parliament. It just takes time.

WineBeforeWhine · 30/10/2025 19:27

Has he paid tax all his working life?

20 years in navy and 10 for the government so falls 5 years short short of full pension. SF unless paying UK tax on her book publishing she will have no state pension contributions, knowing how dodgy she is I doubt HMRC ever entered her mind.
I expect part of the deal is an allowance and his daughter's remain princesses.
It will be a terrible wrench for his 40 bed teddies, bit of a come down for them!

Vaxtable · 30/10/2025 19:40

Good. Wonder if the teddy bears will go as well, and now he is plain Mr and banished to Sandringham will he have to do his own cleaning, cooking and washing!
