@nomas why did she settle at all then? I think if it were me I would have insisted on my day in court.

It goes against the plaintiff if they refuse a a pre-settlement offer the judge deems to be adequate and reasonable.

RhododendronFlowers · 31/10/2025 09:40

Yes, @LBFseBrom there's absolutely no point in speculating, we don't know who he was. It must have been absolutely terrifying for her.
We can only hope that he's brought to justice one day, although I don't know how.
Virginia's last interview was absolutely heartbreaking.

And The Windsors!

I don't know if they'd do a new series because the actress who played Camilla has died, but I'd love a York (as was) family special. I could watch Katy Wix as Fergie all day.

Thought to ponder - if most men weren't obsessed with sex, none of this would have happened! Its not money, but sex, which is the root of all evil.

I suspect, power. You can do what you want with a vulnerable young woman or girl.

Hope all you witch hunters are happy now, then? Bully for you all.

Why is it witch hunting to want to see justice done ?

For the PP who said something like why would the survivors want everything "raked over". I work with survivors of historical sexual abuse and assault every day and most of them absolutely DO want the abusers' crimes known and acknowledged, and their story and suffering heard, even decades later. I can't believe you dont understand this.

Yes, I believe that by far most survivors want their abusers named and known and acknowledged.

They’ve likely been gaslight for years.

I also can’t believe when people scoff at victims for taking settlements and for seeking compensation, implying that they were only in it for the money, when in fact the compensation is another acknowledgement of what happened to them, and sometimes the settlement is as good as they’re going to get in acknowledgement of what happened to them.

Virginia’s family on Newsnight suggested a quick google would tell us all who it was.

I listened to the BBC Newscast podcast that was linked up thread.
Victoria Darbyshire made the very pertinent point that their Majesties' finances would also bear scrutiny. She is not wrong there.

💯 . And that’s the last thing they want.

Several identities have been claimed. It appears to be speculation.

It’s certainly not as obvious or easy to know as they suggested.

There should be a full Inquiry on both sides of the Atlantic . Virginia also said that an ex British Prime Minister abused and strangled her !!!

This is how things get legs, she never said a British Prime Minister, she said A prime minister, and apparently previously named him as an Israeli PM

Epstein had settled a lot of money on her when they parted, she no doubt thought it was behind her

@LBFseBrom I thought Virginia received the settlement from Epstein in 2011, after he was released from prison for soliciting a young girl for sex?

You’re jumping to conclusions. As far as I’m aware, there’s no direct evidence to say for sure what his level of involvement is, it’s mainly circumstantial given the passage of time involved. Therefore, they don’t know enough to “agree to disagree” with his version of events - it’s a generic statement carefully written by legal teams and publicists to cover all bases. You’ll notice, that the statement can pivot to innocence or guilt.

You are assuming there that the Palace has as little evidence as we do.

Epstein kept evidence. His house was filled with files, tapes, photos, records. To use as leverage.

All that evidence is now in the hands of the FBI and US government.

And people wonder why Trump was wined and dined by the Royal Family en masse?

waitamo · 31/10/2025 10:03

Not only is A banished by the King, it's a way of rehabilitating H+M also. They are the son and DIL of the King and their "misdemeanours" are so trivial compared to this.

Rapprochement time! And I think it would be a great gesture on all fronts particularly KC's. Again, it's up to him really and he would leave a good legacy if he did. Square the circle. One in, one out.

Sure, but this is a carefully curated media statement. They are not going to reference evidence that is not in the public domain - that’s not the purpose of such a statement. It’s designed to be as bland and non committal as possible.

Trump was not "wined and dined by the family en masse".
Trump was invited by the government on a state visit to the UK. As part of this, he was invited to a State Banquet, hosted by the King.
This was not a personal invitation, but one to do with diplomacy. You may not like Trump, but he's the elected leader of the USA, and it was in that role he was invited.
Just as Macron was, (and other heads of state have been) shortly before.

I think it was pretty clear.

I also think that some people have started rumours about Ex prime ministers they’d didn’t like and posted them. And people have read those posts and thought they were reading the real name.

You do understand that as the representative head of state, this is expected? Hosting official state visits and welcoming foreign leaders is literally the bread & butter part of KC3' job description. And the invitation for a state visit is issued on the advice of the UK government, not at the King’s personal discretion.

But it must feel clever and fun too hint at some conspiracy 👀

have said before and will say again. All those men and only a British woman & a dead American behind bars. And no one other man than Andrew Mountbatten Windsor rightly vilified. Why? I want justice for all those poor girls.

Agree again.

Andrew deserves whatever he gets as a result of his behaviour; but the reason we are talking about him and no-one else is that others are more powerful.

Katiesaidthat · 31/10/2025 10:13

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 30/10/2025 20:04

It’s brilliant. Good for Charles.
A close relative is good friends with someone who worked at the Royal Lodge (a contractor not an employee). Andrew was openly vile to staff and would shout and scream at them for perceived misdemeanours in front of anyone who happened to be there. “I’m the Duke of York and I’ll do what I want” was a particular favourite. I’m delighted that he’s fallen from grace so spectacularly.

A friend of mine worked with Protocol at a Spanish airport and she met Andy. She described him to me back in 2001 as an arrogant twat. She thought he was very rude. She also got to meet Diana, about a year before her death, she arrived at the airport hounded by paparazzi and had to be escorted to a private area, so not at her most calm moment. She said she was uber polite and just so nice to everyone. The difference was stark.

Andrew exposed himself in the Newsnight interview. I read that he said things Virginia’s lawyer could question.

The others have either had better advice or listened to their lawyers not to say any anything (other than what a lawyer drafted for them probably).

Absolutely. The whole Harry and Meghan debacle was handled so badly. But they are settled and happy, owning their own house and earning their own income, so for sure they wouldn't want to come back permanently. But a public rapprochement with Charles and Camilla and a few visits with the children would be a good look for them all.

It would fit in with the teachings of the Church of England that Charles is the Supreme Governor of too. Tongue in cheek, maybe that's why (according to some media) there have been decorators at Frogmore Cottage!!!!!!!

Arraminta · 31/10/2025 10:16

Anyone else think that the open heckling directed at King Charles a few days ago was the straw that broke the camel's back and made him bring out the big guns?

It was only last week that we were being told that Andrew couldn't be compelled to leave Royal Lodge because of his cast iron lease? But then suddenly it wasn't?
