Did the spokesperson actually say that the RF would not want to take time from other Parliamentary business???

A Whitehall source says, "William is in on it."

How is that proof of anything but the PR machine using William's popularity to make it look like something might happen?

Same with Starmer. He didn't back call for further scrutiny at all. What he said was that it was important the Crown Estate was scrutinised. He didn't say it needed any more scrutiny.

Let's be realistic, last Friday it was deemed enough for Andrew to say he would no longer use certain titles.

Neither parliament, the government or anyone in the RF seems particularly in on anything if that what they deem acceptable.

Topseyt123 · 23/10/2025 14:54

I wonder what William will actually be able to do? It will be interesting to see because undoubtedly something does need to be done and Buckingham Palace seems unable to do anything but dither.

It's not a secret that William is no fan of his Uncle Andrew and has little time for him. I'm team William here.

Jennie Bond (of BBC royal reporting) says W is 'hopping mad'.

Why is he hopping mad? Hr knew all of this first time it came out but carried on talking and laughing with him yet the narrative is he never liked him.

ShenandoahRiver · 23/10/2025 14:58

It's almost comical at this stage - watching them all flailing around desperately trying to make people think there is nothing to see.....

I think Charles needs to deal with this as it's his brother. It's not fair to leave it to William to sort out once he takes the throne. He will already have to deal with Harry and Meghan if they go on to any more TV shows lying about the RF again. I have read that once William is king he will slim down monarchy by doing the Letters Patent to remove HRH and titles from all non working royals including Andrew, Sarah, Beatrice, Eugenie, Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet taking away Prince and Princess and and Duke and Duchess titles.

She might be right, but do we know what her sources are? Palace insiders that she can't/won't name?

That William is no fan of Andrew is clear, I think, and he must be worried about the future of the monarchy given his position within it. He will be acutely aware of the damage the continued Andrew saga is wreaking.

Charles is dealong eith it, it was reported he spoke to Andrew about the titles but all we now see is PR at work pushing the narrative that its all William

Is it? All we know is that the palace PR machine tells us William's no fan of his uncle. What is the evidence for it though?

Jenny Bond saying he's hopping mad only means the palace have told her this.

Although I can imagine he's annoyed that it's taking the focus away from his dad and the Pope.

Hopping mad it hasn't just disappeared.

As you suggest, it isn't proof of anything @CrimsonStoat - the more so as I see we're back with "sources" again Hmm

The RF need to deal with this properly, and if they won’t, then the government should. And properly means that Andrew becomes nothing more that any private citizen of this country. Furthermore, if he faces criminal charges in the US, he should be extradited without delay. Anything else just demonstrates that this country finds it acceptable for powerful men to be above the law.

xla · 23/10/2025 16:00

What good will this do? Unless he’s hauled in front of parliament and loses his titles it’s not enough. It’s also not a scandal. It’s a crime.

Oh not. "Hopping mad" 😂

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 23/10/2025 16:11

When William says something or puts a statement out, I’ll believe he’s actually hopping mad about this. While he’s doing nothing saying nothing but lots of “sources” are saying he’s angry, I don’t believe it.

he also can confirm what he’s angry about, his uncle’s behaviour or his fathers slow response making the family look bad? Is the abuse the problem or the slow response?

BreadInCaptivity · 23/10/2025 16:26

Well someone needs to get a grip.

Letting Andy put the mealy mouthed statement out about renouncing his titles was a big mistake.

I should have come from the top and included a decisive statement that given further revelations that he lied about cutting off contact in the Matlis interview whilst related by blood further sanctions are being reviewed.

CathyorClaire · 23/10/2025 16:27

I'm surprised W has time to get involved what with all his behind the scenes top secret work that nobody can know about.

But they’re not.

the family don’t care. Why would they? They’ve long protected alleged pedophiles

Prince Andrew is an absolute traitor. He needs to be banished from the family and formally stripped of all his titles and privileges (including Royal Lodge and all his lifestyle perks - horses, events, etc). He’s an embarrassing, entitled arse who does this country no benefit whatsoever yet seems happy to continue sponging off the state, because it’s his “birthright”. Time to live as a commoner, pay taxes and find something constructive to do like the rest of us.

There is a trend in some of the European monarchies to restrict royal titles and privilages to only direct heirs. For example In late 2022, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark made the controversial decision to strip four of her grandchildren—children of her younger son, Prince Joachim—of their royal titles. Most of the Euopean monarchies no longer have an expensive coronation - simply an oath taken before the parliament to uphold the constitution. I think this is the kind of direction William may go in.
