The Queen has a lovely home in Wiltshire, I'm sure she'd choose to live there.

MrsLeonFarrell · 25/10/2025 08:31

I think the Royal Lodge and Camilla rumour is simply because it was the home of the Queen Mother. I strongly doubt Camilla would want to live there.

Andrew's past and his shady dealings keep coming to light from his past, and his ex-wife are apparently in negotiations with C to seek out another residence because W is looking to send Camilla to the RL to live out her days after he passes so he and his family moves in and takes over. Andrew knows if he waits for W to negotiate with him, he'll be on the losing end. They're just trying to look out for Beatrice and Eugenie in the negotiations so they don't lose their residences in St James’s Palace and Kensington Palace, as well as keep their titles intact. Why H is also trying to negotiate his family's place with C before W goes all scorched earth after the funeral.

As others have said , I imagine Camilla will live on her own house and retain an apartment somewhere , probably KP.
KC will look out for Beatrice and Eugenie but not convinced William will have the same loyalty. B and E were rumoured to be less than friendly to Catherine in the early days and W seems to have a long memory !
I do agree that H has to negotiate something before KC dies .

Its grim whatever way we look at it. The landscape of the RF has to change now to survive. We know that the king is unwell and is having ongoing cancer treatment for nearly 2 years. Sadly he is not likely to have the longevity of his mother in terms of length of his reign. Andrew Windsor needs to face the full consequences for his appalling conduct and face the full weight of the law. If his ex wife and daughters are at all complicit they need to face consequences as well. The RF will not survive unless they cut out those among them who have brought their name nothing but shame and disgrace. I am not going to disparage Williams estranged brother but I think it likely that William will seek to cut him off completely as well once the King passes away. We dont know how long the King has left (and quite rightly as it is none of our business)

I think people are seeing and reading about Royal Lodge as home to the Queen Mother as a widow, rather than as her country home from 1931, when she moved there, as the then Duchess of York, with her husband and small daughters. There are lots of books that talk about how sad the family were to leave it after the abducation and the outbreak of war. I can't see why Camilla would want to live there; she still has her own country home.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/10/2025 13:10

I very much doubt Camilla would want to live in a house effectively controlled by her stepson, @NumbersGuy, and certainly not when she already has her own home in Raymill

And wasn't it said that Charles had bought the neighbouring property as a base for security staff, if and when Camilla outlives him?

jumpingthehighjump · 25/10/2025 13:51

He bought it because her neighbour had thoughts on setting up a wedding venue, so it was for privacy

Zippedydodah · 25/10/2025 14:46

I imagine Camilla would continue to live at Clarence House as William has indicated he intends to live in their new home post-coronation.

SprayWhiteDung · 25/10/2025 14:59

Isn't it strange how, if it were Bert and Edna, a working-class couple from Wrexham, when the first of them died, nobody would dream of ordering the survivor to leave their home before their own death... but when you're ultra privileged, very rich and married to the monarch, if you outlive them, out you are chucked?!!

ShenandoahRiver · 25/10/2025 15:32

Does anyone know exactly how many properties the RF own? And who lives in them.

OP posts:
jumpingthehighjump · 25/10/2025 15:43

In Great Britain I believe there to be 27. Some sources say 32.
Most not lived in.
Some they own, a lot are crown properties

CrimsonStoat · 25/10/2025 16:36

What do they own themselves? I'm sure it's plenty to keep them in the manner they're accustomed even if we divest them of their other houses.

There's Balmoral (which includes Birkhall, Craigowan Lodge and Tam-na_Ghar) and Sandringham (which includes Anmer Hall).

Gatcombe Park.

Highgrove is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, so potentially privately owned or not.

Llynwynermod is also owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.

Ray Mill is Camilla's and Old Mill next door was reportedly purchased by Charles.

ShenandoahRiver · 25/10/2025 16:48

There is also the Castle of Mey in Caithness. And Dumfries House.

janamo · 25/10/2025 16:53

And Charlie has a bolthole/air BnB in Romania. He told us about that one.

MrsLeonFarrell · 25/10/2025 17:25

The confusion over what is private and what is public in terms of property is one thing that could be cleared up if they wanted to make finances clearer. Balmoral and Sandringham are definitely privately owned because the late Queen's father had to buy them from his brother after the abdication. But lots of properties are owned by the Crown Estate or the Royal Duchies so aren't actually personal property.

Clarity would benefit everyone.

Ah, thank you jumpingthehighjump; I was pretty sure he'd bought it but wasn't aware of the thing about next door

I was reading that we have seen the last Duke of York title - it will be retired

CrimsonStoat · 25/10/2025 18:24

Strictly speaking the Castle of Mey is owned by the King's Foundation...

From Wiki:

On 1 January 2019, stewardship of the Trust passed to the Prince's Foundation.[8] The president of the Foundation is Charles III. Since 1 January 2019, he has been not only the president of the Castle of Mey Trust but also its sole Trustee, through the Foundation.[14]

CrimsonStoat · 25/10/2025 18:29

So is Dumfries House it seems. The Wikipedia History section for which has some interesting reading about the finances.

It needs to be retired now.

ThePoshUns · 25/10/2025 18:36

Yes Andrew has forever tarnished it.

ShenandoahRiver · 25/10/2025 18:55

Presumably it would have been granted to Louis at some point in the future.

bluegreygreen · 26/10/2025 10:40

Andrew has forever tarnished it.

Have been reading through the history of the York dukedom (just on Wikipedia - apologies to proper historians).
Andrew's was the eighth creation of the title.
I suppose when you think of the timeline that monarchy considers, the title could well be used again in a hundred years or so - possibly a bit soon for Louis.

This was interesting
'Aside from the first creation, every time the Dukedom of York has been created it has had only one occupant, that person either inheriting the throne or dying without male heirs.'

MannersAreAll · 26/10/2025 10:50

ShenandoahRiver · 25/10/2025 18:55

Presumably it would have been granted to Louis at some point in the future.

I don't think it would have been. Generally Dukedoms are given out on marriage. Louis is 7 so if he does marry he's likely to do so in the next 20-25 years (ish). Andrew is 65 so he is very likely to still be alive when Louis marries.

It was always more likely imo that a next DOY would be a son of George's.

Has anyone considered maybe Charles has a plan he and Camilla will live at RL together in retirement? I agree Camilla would not like to live there on her own as a widow. Charles is quite old, receiving weekly cancer treatment, maybe he wants to hand over his reign before his death and a base in London? Charles likes grand large properties and had a close relationship with his grandmother who lived at RL for most of his life so he will have a close attachment to the home and fond memories. It would be a sensible place if he was to retire early. The gossip about plans for Camilla to move to RL started from Prince Andrew just after QE's death as a smear campaign. I can't see Camilla wanting to live in a huge property with such a reputation and grandeur on her own. What are your thoughts on RL being an early retirement home plan? It's also a shame William and Catherine couldn't move into the RL property when they moved to Windsor with 3 young children instead of Andrew and Fergie staying put, the property has a swimming pool, special historic play house and tennis court, Williams children should have had access to use these child friendly attributes instead of letting it fall in disrepair and no one using them besides the occasional visits from his adult children who only had toddlers at that time.
