Why is she so opposed though? What has KC ever done to her? He provided a huge amount of money, not least for their wedding, he's consistently invited them to Balmoral and Sandringham, even after the ghastly "Spare" they were both invited to the Coronation. He's never publicly criticised or undermined them.
What is Meghan's reasoning?

Refused her what she wanted with half in half out?

My guess - and of course it is only a guess - is that she doesn't want Harry and the children outside of her control. She has them now where she wants them - on her territory, and she's not about to let go of that.

IcedPurple · 19/09/2025 11:15

Exactly.

Charles is an elderly, ill Head of State whose diary is booked months in advance. He can't just jet off on a whim for a photo op. Harry and Meghan however, can and do, with or without the children. They could easily make arrangements to fly over pretty much any time, and meet Charles in one of several secured, private royal estates.

I suspect the main reason for the lack of a visit is Meghan's opposition.

I suspect the main reason for the lack of a visit is Meghan's opposition.

That’s exactly my point about the ‘neutral territory’ if she sees the UK public, press, BRF as hostile to her or a security risk to her and her DC - even if these thoughts are totally irrational and unreasonable - if KC3 wants to meet his DGC in at this late and vulnerable time in his life then he may choose to meet out of the UK for his benefit and the DGC not MMs. No need even be a photo op or for the general public to know - just innocent children are caught up in a family estrangement - not of KC3s making but if a family torn apart has the opportunity for the wise and compassionate elders to initiate steps and make compromises to focus on the benefits to the innocent children as their own parents are incapable.

If I were KC3 I would make it Thailand and include Thomas Markle.

Mildorado · 19/09/2025 11:37

Yes, @Baital and @IcedPurple , you're both probably right.

Thedom · 19/09/2025 11:41

Didn’t Harry announce he was taking legal action against the author who reported Andrew made derogatory comments about Meghan, has that died a death in the same way they threatened legal action over the claims they used the queens nickname for their daughter without getting the Queens approval.

Yes, King Charles, Head of State of 15 realms, is definitely going to take time out of his busy schedule to fly himself and his security entourage to Thailand, putting great expense on both British and Thai taxpayers, and absenting himself from his constitutional duties, in order to meet the 'DGC' who could easily fly to meet him in England any time.

Yes, that's definitely going to happen.

Come on.

Baital · 19/09/2025 11:48

It would be completely possible to visit without dealing with the press or public, if that is what M is worried about.

It would probably leak out eventually, but by then they could back home.

I don't get the impression that they want to keep any visit quiet, though.

Yes, he just likes to make headlines, I think. He won't sue.

Of course they could visit under the radar. Famous people do that all the time. That's not their style, though.

Tubestrike · 19/09/2025 12:15

I would hope but doubt very much, that the reason M doesn't want to visit the King , is because she's ashamed/embarrassed at their behaviour towards the RF.

ThePoshUns · 19/09/2025 12:40

I highly doubt it. She has the hide of a rhino.

Loads of Heads of State holiday in other countries. Why wouldn’t he have a holiday abroad with his DGC?

I doubt it. She doesn’t seem the type for self reflection. In that she seems to share the same attributes with Harry and his uncle.

Everyonesawher · 19/09/2025 13:12

I do wonder what they tell their young children who are of an age now to talk about their grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, ex-best friends etc

We've been through this, haven't we?

If Meghan is so averse to England that she won't allow the children to be brought there, then Charles simply is not going to have any meaningful relationship with them. Is he going to burden two countries' taxpayers every time he wants to see his 'DGC'? Royal estates in England are among the most secure places imaginable. Why would Charles travel abroad for this purpose?

Why do you think the sick, elderly Head of State of 15 realms has to do all the running, and not his unemployed son and daughter in law?

MaturingCheeseball · 19/09/2025 13:27

I wouldn’t think Meghan would be welcome at Balmoral/Sandringham even if visiting under the radar. She just cannot be trusted - and once you’ve abused someone’s trust - let alone if that someone is the King and royal family - it’s a long, long road to rebuild it.

spanieleyes · 19/09/2025 13:44

The King had a holiday home or two in Transylvania, perhaps they could all meet up there!

The cost to either country is irrelevant if a head of state wants to take a holiday abroad with their family - that would be a choice and judgment he and the other country makes between them.

Hasn’t held him (or Camilla more recently)!taking private holidays abroad - who they see there isn’t relevant.

KC3 might want to do it (if well enough) to call MM’s bluff?

To see his DGC in his lifetime?

To put the DC first if their own parents are obtuse?

Often it takes the actions of a wise older person to shine a light on the right path to family healing.

Exactly.

H,M and family could book tickets tonight on one of the many airlines that operate from LAX into Heathrow....No protocol issues that I can think.of so it could be reconcilliation job jobbed PDQ if there was the will to do it and no blockers.

MrsFinkelstein · 19/09/2025 13:48

BusWankers · 18/09/2025 21:30

There's being photographed with G, C and L at Polo or whatever....and there's having a photograph taken of the King and his heirs.

One is a snapshot of them caught up in every day life, another is a historical record.

If Charles had a posed photo taken of him with A and L, it would be an official record etc.

So unless there's an official photo of KC with Williams offspring, there shouldn't be one with Harry's really.

Whoops.

H&M haven't allowed their children to have the opportunity to have any official photos taken, because they chose to step down as Working Royals.

Again, I think you are ignoring the fact that Charles is a Head of State and his travel is subject to all sorts of constraints.

As I said above, if Meghan hates England so much that she won't allow her children to spend even a few days there, then there simply isn't going to be a relationship between the King and the grandchildren. You can't build a meaningful relationship over a few meetings in 'neutral countries', even putting aside the considerable hassle, expense and pre-planning. It's sad, but this is what their parents have chosen for them.

DipsyDee · 19/09/2025 14:21

If the next year is all about Charles as Harry stated then you’d think that Harry would make the effort to bring his children to see Charles. It’s not just down to Megan to make this decision (but I bet this is exactly what she’s doing). Harry has to grow his ballad back and TELL her this is what is going to happen. If she doesn’t want to join them then she can stay at home.

Yep. Fly 1st class BA to Heathrow, be whisked from the plane to the Windsor Suite and from there to whatever highly secure royal estate is the most suitable.

But instead the Head of State has to get two governments involved in his journey to a 'neutral country' because his daughter in law has thrown a strop?
