Continuing the on from the As ever thread

  • Funny article from Jan Moir

https://archive.ph/UfTPx

  • Turns out Chrissy wasn’t the only known bully that Meg invited onto the show. David Chang has serious anger issues and has bullied staff

https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/tvfilm/meghan-markle-s-shameless-pr-stunt-with-david-chang-is-disgusting-b1244549.html

  • Megs new show hasn’t appeared in the Top ten on NF in the UK or US, which she had done for the first series. NF aren’t promoting it other that in the ‘new this week’ section. You also have to scroll along to find it.
  • No stock sold out yet

Meghan Markle’s shameless PR stunt with David Chang is disgusting

The first episode of With Love, Meghan season two has a nasty jumpscare

I watched Meghan’s twaddle — it’s like being waterboarded with treacle

https://www.thetimes.com/article/601aa0d7-3174-410f-ba71-5293628351e4?shareToken=10195721560025e1b5d23e22f599c7f1

Have there been any positive reviews at all?

I've not watched it, and didn't watch the first installment either, other than the little excerpts which showed up on the internet. But my impression is that it's just terribly dull and doesn't really cater to any niche, other than of course her superfans who would watch her reading from the phonebook from an hour and still proclaim it to be a masterpiece.

Meghan has shown herself to be exactly who she is - unremarkable. She was an unremarkable actress. She thought becoming a princess or a duchess would elevate her to superstardom after the affection shown at the wedding. She isn't the entrepreneur, the feminist, the groundbreaker or all of the other things she thought the marriage and the title would bring, she is just an unremarkable person who is completely out of her depth.

But she is that fascinating combination of minimal talent with ferocious ambition.

These types are always ready to stand on anyone’s neck, exploit others, kiss-up / kick-down in order to grift and grab what they believe is theirs for the taking.

They are desperately insecure, always waiting to be found out, so manipulate, bully and disrupt in order to divert attention from looking too closely at their shortcomings.

Always moving on - using others and discarding them. Grandiose and delusional.

I watched the Bloomberg interview it’s such a contrast to the OW interview. Fawning sweet little Megs in her yellow sunshine frock vs the sullen, brittle, kohl eyed, misery that was OW.

I suspect she has learned that that image didn’t serve her well.

I agree that she has always elevated herself on the backs of others talent - she did that in Suits if you watch her promo interviews with the big stars and talent from the show - she takes over and pushes in.

@ThePoshUns that's for the share token. It is quite a funny article, but it must sting.

Imagine being waterboarded for four hours with treacle and insincerity. Well, it’s more painful than that.

You’re welcome and yes it is scathing. I’d be embarrassed to show my face in public if I had that written about myself.

I think she saw how dignitaries and heads of state (possibly even charity representatives etc) were to be invited and realised there would be plenty of people there that Harry hadn't met so why not forge connections for herself?
I suspect the people present who Meghan really cared about and counted as friends barely reached double figures.

There was no requirement for dignitaries or state representatives (there weren't heads of state). It wasn't the wedding of the heir, so they didn't have to consider specifics like that - they could have had a small wedding if they wanted.

I think Meghan did at one point say they wanted a small wedding, and the spectacle was only for 'the people' - but I believe Harry had also asked for St Paul's Cathedral so, as ever, two opposite things may be true.

Butteredtoast55 · 30/08/2025 14:13

@bluegreygreen and @IcedPurple
I stand corrected! I was trying to be a teeny bit fair to Meghan, but obviously was clutching at straws!

They didn’t want a small wedding! H personally asked the Archbishop of Canterbury to perform the ceremony, even though it wasn’t his church. He went over the head of the deacon (correct title I think) of St George’s chapel to ask Justin Welby. H wanted the top dog, just like his bro. Apparently QEII was upset about him breaking protocol (church not royal) and going behind her back to do it.

They wanted Westminster Abbey or St Paul’s but were told no .
they were also refused a red carpet .,

Yes! So they went without a red carpet and went for a bare floor rather than face the humiliation of a blue carpet like other members of the RF 🤨. If you ever doubted the veracity of bridezilla tales of scented candles for the chapel, tiaragate, bridesmaids tales, I give you the absence of any carpet instead of the usual blue carpet in these occasions as evidence we can all see that H and M were a difficult bride and groom to please and wanted things done differently for them.

Sashaying through a bookshop saying she doesn't have time to read is on point.

As in not read books she would like to as her time is spent reading books with her children. Im sure most parents qoukd love to lots of things but dont have the time to spend doing what they would like to e.g. read a book/ exercise etc.

Whats wrong with that? That is just life after all that millions of people also experience.

I would have thought one of their Nannies could give her a break for a couple of hours to read her book .

FleurDeFleur · 30/08/2025 16:38

Yes. Reading isn't her thing.
If you love reading, you find time.

FitatFifty · 30/08/2025 16:46

I’ve seen a clip where she says she left Suits because she ‘fell in love’ but she was already leaving.
she has utter confidence in telling lies that can be easily disproved.

Absolutely. In fact, I read more books than ever when my DCs were little. It was a great way to unwind after they had gone to bed.

Neither she nor her husband really work and they have household staff.

If she doesn't read, it's not due to a lack of time.

JADS · 30/08/2025 17:49

If you are sashaying through a bookshop, wanging on about how it feeds your soul, you name a book, any bloody book you've read in the last 10 years!

She couldn't even really name a children's book - I can tell you what both my children are reading at the moment and they are both revolting teenagers.

Also her children aren't babies anymore. When your kids start nursery/school, you get a few extra hours to do things you love. I imagine Meghan loves the image of being a book lover and enjoys a quick coffee in a book shop.

AtIusvue · 30/08/2025 17:50

She also admits she makes chicken nuggets and tater tots for the kids dinner because she hasn’t got time to cook in that interview.

But she’s got time to mince about making marbled silk scarves for dear friends she’s literally just met. The woman is an utter loon.

IIRC Fergie wrote a book about Queen Victoria as she was fascinated by her and had access to so much documentation. I think her interest was said to be why she called her eldest Beatrice ( and I think Eugenie's middle name is Victoria, not that I am a sad royal geek but it stuck in my head because Eugenie Victoria is the proper name of Scarlett's daughter Bonnie in Gone With The Wind) Off to Google now, and probably find out I am totally incorrect!

That's interesting about Gone With the Wind.

Beatrice was Queen Victoria's last child, and her only daughter was Victoria Eugenie, who married the King of Spain (who was deposed in the early 30s, followed by civil war then Franco).

So may have been very much in the news when GWTW was written, and example of a 'classy' royal name, unlike Scarlett (which was perfect for the character!)

There's always time to read, unless you are working two.jobs to put food on the table.

Lots of people don't read for fun. Each to their own.

But I doubt lack.of time is Meghan's reason for not reading.

Scarlett chooses fashionable names for her children: Wade Hampton is named after her late husband's commanding officer as that is the fashion at the time, the next one is Ella Lorena as they are the most fashionable names when she is born. I can't remember what it says about Eugenie Victoria, other than when the nickname Bonnie stuck everyone forgot that she had been named for two Queens.

Got to love Scarlett, she is always led by fashion!

BalloonSlayer · 30/08/2025 18:42

Maybe Meghan didn't want to be judged on what books she reads. Because she would be!

She may have had that feeling you get when someone asks you what the last book you read was, and it was actually a re-read of Rivals by Jilly Cooper because you liked the TV show, "but I can't say that, can I? Think of something intelligent I have read recently, um, mind's gone blank . . . Aargh! . . . THINK!"
